And absolutely NOTHING else, just that they’re going to write more for her. This is so wonderfully ambiguous that you’re getting pre-emptively upset about almost nothing. If they narrowed it more to pre-death or post-death Sylvanas writing, maybe I’d see the leeway and possible worry.
Like I said before, the issue I have is that they may make Sylvanas into more of a Mary Sue because of how popular she is now. They might change her to appease those people…
They should not change her at all, they need to keep her the same, the last thing we want is for them to try to re-write her character in Warcraft 3 to make all her actions in WOW justified… thats covering up the dog poop with the carpet… something I’m sick of Blizzard doing.
So maybe you should just pump the brakes and wait for a new release or preview of the Reforged campaign to see if any Sylvanas stuff does pop up in there, rather than going off on your tirades. They aren’t thought-provoking, challenging anyone’s perspective, or constructive.
Again, we’ve all just heard one minor thing and you’re making a mountain out of, so far, an imaginary mole hill.
I’m trying to prevent it before it happends… once it’s happened… it’s too late. I don’t trust Blizzard to make the right changes. Forgive me for being cynical of a company that sold its soul to Activision, a company that does so many unethical business practices without remorse… and on top of that, the company that made World Of Warcraft and Diablo 3.
This is exactly why I havent preordered reforged… I own 3 copies of wc3 classic and I dont care about all these wow retcons… they dont improve anything
You’re jumping the gun before the gun was even invented or considering why the gun would be there in the first place.
That massively successful game that had 12 million subscribed players in 2010, which means the playerbase was still growing from its release in 2004?
That game that sold over 30 million copies by August 2015?
Like they’re successful commercially. Critically is another thing. But again, you said it yourself, they’re a business. It’s kind of no wonder that they’re hammering out the Reforged campaign with ‘modern’ (by the lore’s standards) writing and geography. They’re appealing to the Warcraft audience as a whole, not just laser-focusing like they did for Starcraft: Remastered.
Which means they’re appealing to WOW fans as a whole… because WOW fans give them the most money… this is why I know that if nobody complains about it, they’ll ruin the story for Warcraft fans because they will put WOW fans first.
See, it’s statements like this that sets things apart from being purely you sticking to the old lore. You’re not just sticking to old lore, you’re speaking on behalf of all Warcraft fans.
I am a Warcraft fan, you don’t speak for me, therefore I will counter your claim that this ruins the story for ‘Warcraft’ fans. The context is important because Reforged is not and has never been proclaimed as a purist vision of Warcraft 3.
But you’re already set on sticking to the original lore, so it’s not ruining anything for you unless you choose to have it affect you.
Which is the paradox we have here. You say you stick to the original lore… but Reforged is ruining it for you… but that can’t happen unless you chose not to stick to the original.
“Changes made to this thing that’s being made to bring it up to date with the rest of the series could ruin the next hypothetical thing” is a really weak statement.
