Why is there not an option to play against AI in VERSUS? I recently purchased WC3 and want to re-familiarize myself with the game, but not against another user. Blizzard needs to add a computer opponent selection so I don’t have to go to the world map editor and test a map just so I can play against the AI.
Yeah what the heck. Did they remove the Single Player stuff on purpose!?!?
The only solution to this is to create an online custom game, give it a name and add computers instead of other players. I guess even playing vs AI is an online thing now. What a joke of a company
I am sorry you didn’t get the experience you wanted
Versus is exclusively for PvP.
Like Festerhowl mentioned, the Custom Game mode is where you can play the AI.
I have tried to add a computer to the online custom game and every time it has kicked me out instead of actually adding anything. I have attempted this multiple times and have given up lol
That’s unfortunate! I gave it a try just now and it seemed to work fine. There’s a lot of reports of disconnects going around. Hopefully they iron those out soon.
If you go into a custom game. You can create your own game, make it a private game, name it whatever and set it up how you would like. When you move past the settings screen you can add AI. Side note: if you are like me and like seeing the AI duke it out, you can set up observers and can make yourself a observer. Pretty cool seeing 12 insane AI go crazy.
Go to your maps folder, delete the maps and then relaunch the game. This fixed it for me. I noticed when you tried to make the custom game it would say “map not found on this computer”. So this forced the game to re download then.
deleting the maps from the folder and relaunching the game fixed the issue. Thank you
No problem!
If I play vs AI, I always have ~200ms ping. Is that normal?!
You don’t need to use the world editor lol.
Create a custom game. Pick any normal map. Add comptuer AIs.
It is exactly the same as the mode designated for that purpose of old.
Ping depends on the connection quality between you and the server, which is made of 100s or 1000s of miles of 3rd party infrastructure. So there’s no real “normal” ping. There’s good, decent, bad, etc.
As for having ping in an AI game, it appears that Reforged is doing what SC2 does. Your single player matches are still facilitated through Battlenet.
The weird part is appears if you play offline (as in, Logout of the game), it still connects to Battlenet to facilitate the game. BUT… I don’t necessarily believe that is true because with my network card disabled/ethernet cable pulled, it was still showing ping, which is impossible:
but than your still connected to a game server and have ping.
The only way to truely play offline is via worldeditor or unplugging your router.
Logging off or “play offline” button does not work.
Not only does the ridiculous online version of a single player skirmish have network lag, there isn’t even the ability to SAVE YOUR GAME. Absolutely inexcusable.
Why don’t you simply go Offline mode?
There’s something funky going on in offline mode. The Ping meter will actually display a ping when there shouldn’t be. What makes it even weirder is that even by fully disconnecting one’s computer from the Internet, it’s still claims there’s a ping. So people don’t know what to believe.
…except you can’t Pause, Save or Load even when operating offline/logged out.
playing vs AI, this is pretty much a nonissue. Besides, you can activate offline mode. You do not have to unplug your router lol.
Custom game saves are returning. This was a feature both online and off in WC3 and it is coming back.
Also, you can still create custom games in offline mode. You don’t have to unplug your router. So you can drop all that “INEXCUSABLE!” hyperoble over a minor feature that wasn’t even commonly used, and which is coming back in an update.
