Hey guys. I’ve gone through many mechanical keyboards in my time, mainly because I just love buying new tech!
But now I want one that has the F keys lined up right next to the number keys (1, 2, 3…)
I want to make more use of the F keys in both SC2 and WC3, and want it to be more comfortable than it is on my current keyboards.
I know that there are some keyboards out there that fit this description perfectly:
DREVO
Mini Choco
etc
However these keyboards do not have a NumPad. So my question is this:
Do you know of any keyboard with a similar layout, AND a number pad?
or
Does software such as Lesco Warcraft Tool (a program designed to rebind NumPad buttons), work for a keyboard that does not have a NumPad included?
Hope at least one of you was able to follow this, thanks for taking a look
Never heard of that, google says its for dota, so I wouldnt use that. Most people use Warkeys or AHK, to move the inventory onto TYGH. The best and simplest setup is right here:
As for keyboards I dont know much about mechanical, though I recommend making sure your keyboard has all the standard keys, every key is useful, including Esc, F#s, ~, etc. Personally I like ones that have additional programmable keys to the left of Tab/Shift/Ctrl, because you dont want to be messing with Function keys in-game
If I could make my own dream keyboard it would have the numpad on the left, but the numpad would be used for additional Ctrl groups (instead of inventory as that fits better on TYGH)
However, I already knew about the program you listed, and prefer the one I’m currently using it has an easy on-off command built in, and I have no issues with it.
My question was, would I still be able to bind the keys from NumPad, WITHOUT a NumPad physically existing
So according to the webpage for that tool (which I have never heard of) it says:
" Release date: 2005-08-20 "
" Note: Inventory hotkeys feature will remap your keys even on chat, if you find it annoying, you can use Warkey++. "
Im not trying to be rude, but Im very surprised that still works with Reforged. If it causes problems with chat (like it says in the Note) then idk why you would want to use that. It even says in the instructions to use Warkeys
Is there something my guide isnt able to do that I can help you with?
It is an incredibly lightweight program, very basic, runs minimized on startup with no issues.
When I switch it on (Alt I), it switches the chosen keys for the entire PC, not just WC3, so it works with Reforged for this reason. It’s not really a WC3 third party program, it’s just a generic program, designed to help people use items in WC3 or DotA.
I have no issues with it, I love it, it’s the lightest and simplest and I’d rather keep it that way if possible.
I just wanted to know if anyone was using a similar program without a physical NumPad, before I purchase a keyboard without a NumPad (for the sake of closer F keys).
Warkey is a slightly clunkier program, as it constantly switches on and off between chat. I just prefer Warcraft Tool because I can choose to swap it manually, that’s all
My guide doesnt use Warkey it uses AHK which is the most lightweight tool on the internet, it does everything you say your tool does and more. It works with other programs (not just wc3).
I dont know about your tool, but AHK works in everyway possible.
youre a very stubborn person. you stated you read my guide but clearly didnt realize my guide doesnt use warkeys. Good luck using an outdated tool from 2005 and believing its lightweight
It doesn’t “mess up” in chat, it keeps the remaining characters you’ve chosen. So if you do not manually swap it, it will have numpad instead of letters.
This makes it lighter, as it doesn’t have any automatic swaps like AHK.
You still do not understand my question lol, please, find something else to do
That is not something that would be unique to AHK. It’s whether or not keys can be read without them existing physically. At this point you sound like a desperate salesman, and I’d rather hear from anyone else (that I can legitimately trust has tried this).
PLEASE, for the last time, stop commenting on my thread. Your persistence about which program I should use (something that I never said I wanted to discuss) makes YOU look like the stubborn one.
I’m happy with my program. It’s incredibly basic and does what I want it to do, that’s it… I don’t need you forcing your preference down my throat.
Please… please stop posting here
EDIT:
A friend of mine was able to test this for me on his laptop. Using software like Lesco or AHK will work without a physical NumPad existing hope this helps anyone on the same journey <3
