Patch 3.0.0 suggestions

Hello, I’ve combined all suggestions and bugs into this one list. There are some suggestions with “past tense” as I was trying to make this look like a real patch note but I realized it would be too much work to rewrite everything. :slight_smile:
I removed comments why each change should be done to reduce text amount.
Please also consider merging EU, US and other region forum websites into 1 forum website (us.forums, eu.forums…) for Warcraft 3.

Patch 3.0.0:

General

  1. Users can now upload their maps in custom games hosted by Blizzard servers. New “Browse maps” button added and 8 tags: Tower defense, Hero siege, Campaign, Moba, RPG, Mini-games, Melee and Other. Developers can release updates with changelogs and their BattleTag is automatically added to the map for authenticity. Players can subscribe to a custom map with only the latest version being available and automatically update when a new version is available.
  2. Added a “Reconnect” button in the main menu which gives you 45 seconds to reconnect after disconnecting from a game. This button only appears if you did not press Exit or Quit game manually. The other players that are waiting can vote to drop the player from the game after 45 seconds.
  3. Game Data Set options reduced from 3 to 2 in World editor map properties. Deleted “Default (Based on map melee status)” and changed name of “Melee (Latest patch)” to “Latest patch (Default)”. This applies balance fixes for campaign maps as they were made to introduce players to the game before you play multiplayer. This also fixes items in campaigns.
  4. Added the missing Orc prologue campaign maps for classic mode (Riders on the Storm, The Fires Down Below and Countdown to Extinction) with original voiceover.
  5. Share units is disabled in allies window so you cannot share units when playing “Versus mode” 2vs2, 3vs3 and 4vs4. If your teammate leaves only then are you able to control his/her units.
  6. Deleted “Patrol” from command card of all units except from units that have the repair ability such as peasant and peon. Patrol is rarely used and we want players to click with mouse to move units such as heroes and air units, not automatically move around.
  7. Reworked the female death knight model and improved the female demon hunter model in classic mode.
  8. Deleted the new Arthas vs Illidan cinematic, instead the classic version will be shown. This is also a step to reduce the overall file size of the game as players can’t have all of Blizzard’s games installed at the same time due to limited space. In World editor go to “Sound Editor”, go to folder “Units->Creeps->Spider”, in the spider folder there are duplicate files, there are 3x “SpiderWhat1” and 2x “SpiderWhat2”. Also in folder “Creeps->Unbroken” there are 3 duplicate files which can be deleted. All folders need to be inspected for more duplicate sound files which should be deleted from the game and world editor to optimize file size of the game.
  9. Fixed issues related to the new player slots such as violet and peach. Trading resources now works with the new players slots. For instance Player 1 Red can now trade resources to Player 16 Violet, and Player Light blue can now send gold to Player Peach. When playing as one of the new colors and being in a “player group” actions such as “grant shared vision of unit” or “pan camera to location” now properly works, even when players are in different forces but allied with actions when using “player group” actions. In World editor in object manager in map summary tab, fixed so it now shows units of the new player colors such as peach and violet.
  10. Blight on unbuildable textures such as “cobble path” and “rocks” is now shown as constant green mist (the same green mist vfx which already exists and appears randomly on blight on buildable textures). Fixed bug with blight and unbuildable textures such as “rocks” texture not being shown at the bottom of cliffs (to visually indicate that undead units can regen when standing there or that you can’t build structures there).
  11. Removed game speed “slow” and “normal”. Game speed “fast” forced for all maps and removed the option to change it when creating lobby.
  12. Deleted the “use old terrain” in gameplay options (“old reforged terrain”).
  13. Deleted autosave feature from reforged campaign maps. It is enough with progress being saved when you finish a campaign map and being able to manually save as before reforged.
  14. AI no longer uses dark ritual if lich already has full mana. AI prioritizes usage of dark ritual on summoned units such as skeleton warrior especially those who are about to expire instead of ghouls.
  15. AI endless attack wave bug: If you attack computer AI base and kite AI units back to your base then the AI sends an endless attack wave. The AI thinks it’s still defending it’s own base. An example of this is last Night elf mission “Twilight of the gods” if you kite purple’s units to your base the AI will instantly send any unit it trains to endlessly attack your base and never pull back. To try to stop this bugged endless attack wave you need to attack the computer AI’s base again or kill all his active units (the bug easier happens when train time of AI units is low).
  16. AI retreat bug: When AI attacks your base and destroys a building and then when there is no other building near: The AI will retreat to its own base for no reason. Example is Sentinel campaign mission 7 when you need to stop eye of Sargeras in Dalaran, Illidan’s army will attack your base and after they destroy a building they will retreat for no reason.
  17. When you have selected an enemy unit you can now see if it has resistant skin, hardened skin, magic immunity or true sight passive ability in the command card. Note: Only the four passive abilities mentioned above appear in the command card when selecting an enemy unit, because other passive abilities are already displayed in other ways.
  18. Teleport abilities such as the ultimate ability of Archmage and item Staff of teleportation no longer interrupts channelled spells of the target you teleport to and allows the targeted unit to continue to cast spells.
  19. Added new classic skins in collections for heroes and units: undead arthas death knight, fel grunt/raider/kodo beast/peon, mannoroth pitlord, reign of chaos priest model and white-haired paladin Sage Truthbearer (Dagren the orcslayer probably gives your paladin white hair in classic mode but in that case the icon “Classic” is missing in collections for Dagren).
  20. When you are the host of a lobby in custom games, players in your blocked list on Battlenet Desktop App can no longer join that specific lobby, and removed “Ban player” option when clicking a player in a lobby (because you can’t unban). Players in your blocked list can still join the same lobby if you are not the host.
  21. When you go near a shop your hero is selected faster, the update rate is now slightly faster.
  22. Arthas with frostmourne undead version now has attack type chaos in classic campaigns and changed the setting in object editor for custom maps that use the latest patch. Previously only the human version of Arthas with frostmourne had attack type chaos.
  23. It would be best if “Story mode” difficulty was deleted from campaign. You should not play versus if you can’t even beat the first campaign map on “Normal” difficulty. Also “Computer (Easy)” when playing custom games such as melee maps should be deleted from the game, only “Computer (Normal)” and “Computer (Insane)” should exist since the AI has not been improved for many years and is therefore “out of date” when it comes to tactics and gameplay.
  24. Added new “build grid visuals” to show walkable/unwalkable and buildable/unbuildable areas when deciding where to place a building. These new visuals can be disabled in gameplay options. It is similar in-game as the visual setting from World Editor “View - Pathing Ground”. For instance when playing a map and when deciding to place a barracks next to an altar it’s now easier to understand that you can move between the buildings with a hero. For the unwalkable area it shows the existing green color and the color of the area that is walkable can be set to dark blue as in World Editor or a very light green color.

Main Menu & Lobby

  1. Fixed color bug in lobby when you move to observer slot and then move to a player slot, more than one player would have the same color.
  2. When in a lobby all players can now send invites to players instead of only the host.
  3. When you are in the custom games browsing lobbies in the list and you right-click a lobby delete the option “Download map”. This is killing the community as people just right-click, download map and the game never gets started.
  4. Deleted the load game button which is a folder icon in “campaign selection” next to difficulty selection.
  5. Deleted the “Collection” button on profile page below profile picture. You can already change portrait by clicking the profile picture. The button “Collection” also already exists when you click the button with three lines in bottom left corner.
  6. When you click Multiplayer, then Friends tab and then Add friends, recent players list now appears even if there are zero players in the list instead of being hidden.
  7. "Recent players list”, for instance when you invite someone to lobby, no longer include your friends as they already appear in your friends list. To prevent players from sending friend requests to existing friends.
  8. Handicap setting in lobby forced to always be 100% and removed handicap setting from lobby so players cannot change it. Only the map maker can change handicap with actions in World editor.
  9. It’s now possible to edit races displayed in lobby and you can add custom races which are selectable in lobby.
  10. Local area network no longer freezes game for a while when you click it in main menu. Players no longer need to install a third party software to play warcraft 3 LAN.
  11. When creating a lobby and browsing “DOWNLOAD” folder, all those melee maps should be moved from the “DOWNLOAD” folder. The Download folder should only contain maps you downloaded when playing custom games. Also merge the 2 folders named “Scenario” and everything else in FROZENTHRONE folder should be moved out and then delete the FROZENTHRONE folder. Merge the ROC and TFT map folders.
  12. Deleted “Save game” from multiplayer such as custom games.
  13. Deleted the lobby option “Share units” when creating a lobby and forced it to be unchecked. It’s enough being able to choose who you want to share your units with when playing a map in allies window.
  14. Players can no longer reveal vision of an entire map with a setting in the lobby which is equal to cheating. Removed vision setting when creating a lobby. Only the map maker can decide vision setting in World editor. In World editor the action “Game- Set Map Flag” doesn’t work when you set “Visibility - Always Visible” to “Off”, the action should be deleted. Then where it says “Visibility:” below minimap in custom games list and in lobby replace it with “Game Data:” which shows “Latest patch” or “Custom”, so it’s easy to know if a map is using latest patch or not (useful when playing for instance melee maps in custom games).
  15. Deleted “Random hero” option when creating lobby.
  16. Deleted the “Random Races” checkbox option when creating a lobby. Each player can instead choose to pick random race in the lobby.
  17. Most players don’t know what observer type “Referee” does. Renamed the 4 observer options when creating a lobby to: “No observers, Observers on defeat, Observers chat enabled, Observers chat disabled”.
  18. Changed default observer option in lobby from “None” to “Referee”. Custom games in Starcraft 1 remastered always have observer slots in lobbies, do the same for warcraft 3 and make the observer slots start closed when you create a lobby.
  19. When you left-click an open slot in lobby, instead of having the “Add computer” option appearing add the 3 options right away “Add “Computer Easy”, “Computer Normal” or “Computer Insane””, to reduce the amount of clicking needed to add a computer insane in a lobby.
  20. All chat commands need to be listed somewhere easily found. The “Tips” and “Help” menus in-game are outdated and need to be shortened as they are bloated with unnecessary information.
  21. When adding new friends or inviting players to lobby the “Recent players” list doesn’t display everyone, it seems it only shows recent players from your region instead of all regions.
  22. Delete the commands !closeall and !openall in lobby and instead make lobbies automatically refresh every 10 minutes.
  23. When you are in a lobby you can now see who you are whispering to (name of player or channel now showing in the chat when you are typing).
  24. When you invite someone to a lobby, from either friends or recent players list, they can now see map name in the invitation.
  25. The 2 search boxes in custom games merged into 1. Fixed bug when you search a game name, in the search box below custom games list, the entire list of lobbies no longer locks itself only to the word you searched for and you don’t have to exit custom games to reset the list of lobbies.
  26. If a host presses ESC or clicks the “Back” button while in a lobby a confirmation window now appears “Are you sure to want to close the lobby?" with the options "Yes/No”.
  27. As a host of a lobby you can now see your teammates when in a lobby, slightly moved the “Start” button in lobby to achieve this.
  28. In “Multiplayer” on the pages “Versus” and “Tournament”, removed your team from being displayed in bottom right corner as it is unnecessary for your team to be displayed in 2 places.
  29. Score screen (“Match results”), fixed an issue where you could create a lobby and then afterwards report yourself for “Offensive content” or “Bad game name”. The report button is now hidden if you were the host of the game.
  30. Deleted one of the report buttons, the red “! icon” button, in the score screen (“Match results”) to prevent having duplicate buttons.
  31. When someone sends you a message via Battlenet app chat while you are in a lobby, then you send a message to a different friend via Battlenet desktop app chat, in lobby chat it displays the wrong player name as it displays the player that first sent you a message instead of the player you whispered to.
  32. When you are the host and created a lobby the game window in windows taskbar flashes if you minimized the game when a lobby is full. For all other players the game window in windows taskbar flashes when host has started game and map is loading. In addition, you can now enable a notification toast in Battle.net Desktop App which appears and can make a sound if Warcraft 3 is minimized to notify when a lobby is full.
  33. Make it possible to use arrow keys and enter key on keyboard to select maps and open folders when creating a lobby and when browsing lobbies in custom games. Right now the arrow keys can be used to only scroll the list which isn’t helpful. When you press “arrow down key” it should select the next map/lobby in the list.
  34. When creating a lobby and browsing which maps you have in the list, there are several duplicate maps which are exact same version which should be deleted. Some maps there are even triplicate! For instance there are three maps of “Wellspring temple v1.2” (one in “2023season2” folder, one in “Download->Season1” folder and one in “Download->Season7” folder).
  35. When creating a lobby and browsing which maps you have in the list, please delete old versions of each map so we only have access to the latest version of each map. For instance in “FROZENTHRONE” folder delete old version of road to stratholme, terenas stand, the two rivers, trisfal glades, avalanche, bridge too near, floodplains 1v1 version, frozen clover, tidewater glades, bloodstone mesa, duststorm, monsoon, thunder lake, banewood bog, deadlock, feralas, mur’gul oasis, northshire, sanctuary and twilight ruins. Since each of these maps have a newer version named “LV”. Also please delete old version of “Extreme candy war" (2004) and keep the latest version (2005) only. You then wouldn’t need to have a duplicate of “Lost temple LV” named “A Starter Map (Lost temple LV)” as it should be deleted.
  36. All players in a team should join custom games lobbies together when someone in your team joins a lobby. When someone in your team creates a lobby all the players in the team should join the lobby together automatically (like a party entering a dungeon in World of warcraft). If there are not enough slots in the lobby then as many as possible from the team should still automatically join the lobby.
  37. Countdown in lobbies, if you send a message after 1 second remains during countdown then that message will be displayed in the chat when playing the map. Also if you accidentally joined wrong lobby and host starts there’s not enough time to leave lobby, need to be changed so you can leave lobby later during countdown. Also when someone leaves during countdown is says “Countdown cancelled by host” which isn’t true, just shorten the message to “Countdown cancelled”.
  38. In lobby when you left-click a player’s name the button “View profile” now appears in the drop down menu, allowing you to browse a player profile while in a lobby.
  39. When you whisper a friend while in a lobby, then the game starts and then when playing a map the chat command “/r” now works as you can continue to easily whisper recent friend, the list of recent whispered friends is now the same in the lobby as when playing a map.
  40. When browsing lobbies in custom games list make it so slots which the map maker has forced to always be computer are not displayed in max players in players column (Scenario->Player properties->Players tab in World editor, controller setting set to “computer”). For instance if you have a map with 6 slots where the map maker set 2 slots to always be computer and you are alone in the lobby, then in custom games lobbies list it should display 1/4 players instead of 1/6.
  41. On the “Match results” page after you’ve played a map, removed the column “Mercenaries hired” from “Heroes tab”. Mercenaries hired is instead included in “Units trained” in “Units tab”.
  42. When you are in a lobby and click on an open slot and in the drop down menu click “Invite to game”, then the list of friends/players that appear: you should not be able to send invites to players who can’t be invited (for instance if they are currently playing a map), make it so the green invite button next to their name is grayed out if they can’t be invited. Also when you’ve clicked the green invite button next to a player’s name make it grayed out so you can’t spam invite and this would make it easier to know that you’ve sent an invite.
  43. Start the game, click Multiplayer then click Friends tab, when you right click a friend please move the option “Remove friend” further down in the pop-up menu so it’s located above “Report player” (so “Remove friend” and “Report player” are in the same “window” in that pop-up menu). It’s currently easy to missclick “Remove friend” when for instance trying to whisper a friend. This change would make it consistent with the Battle.net desktop app where “Remove friend” option is placed above “Report…” in the pop-up menu.
  44. When you are the leader in a team and right click your profile picture in bottom right corner please add a “Leave team” option in the popup menu. You currently need to promote someone else to leader or kick others to be able leave the team if you are the leader.
  45. Before reforged was released it was easy to browse the list of available lobbies in custom games but now there is too much information displayed. Remove the column “Region” (which shows USW, EU…) and instead add “Region:” below minimap between “Host:” and “Observers:” when you select a lobby in the list.

User Interface & Options

  1. “Allied Victory” is no longer displayed in allies window as it is unnecessary information.
  2. Display move speed in numbers such as “320” instead of the words “Very slow, Slow, Fast” etc. when you hover mouse over a unit’s armor.
  3. “Enhanced Tooltips” should be forced to on and removed from options.
  4. “Enable Formation movement toggle” in gameplay options should be forced off and removed from options.
  5. The “Formation movement” button next to the minimap when you play a map should be forced off and deleted from the game for players, to prevent player units from stopping and being slowed in unit groups.
  6. The “Allies” button, which opens the “allies window”, is no longer grayed out in singleplayer. This bug prevented players from sending resources to computer allies when playing singleplayer.
  7. When playing a map and you press “F12” to open the “Log” the option “Send to player” should be deleted. We can instead use Battle.net Desktop App to whisper and this makes it easier to block unwanted whispers from non-friends.
  8. “Spells” setting in video options forced to always be “High” and removed it from options. Deleted the setting “Art - Required Spell Detail” in Object editor for Buffs/Effects.
  9. When dialogue in-game is played the 3D portrait of your currently selected unit is no longer replaced with the portrait of the character that is speaking. The 3D portrait of the character that is speaking has been moved to mid-left side of the screen.
  10. If observers (for instance “Referee” option") are allowed, you can’t see who is currently observing. Names of observers are now listed in the “Allies window”.
  11. When you select units they appear on the HUD (maximum 12 unit portraits). When a unit dies all the unit portraits on the HUD of your selected units no longer reposition themselves.
  12. The button “show creep camps on minimap” next to minimap and the hotkey for it has been be deleted. Only the map creator can decide if creep camps are showed or not on minimap. For all maps the setting is on by default.
  13. Fixed an issue when you had a maximum limit for buildings (Action: Player - Limit training of Guard Tower to 30 for (Picked player)) and when you were near the limit and for instance selected 12 scout towers and upgraded them at the same time to guard towers, some guard towers would then show wrong icon.
  14. Change HUD Sidepanels in gameplay options to always be off and delete them from the game.
  15. In gameplay options “Enable system chat messages” should always be on and remove it from options.
  16. In sound options move the “Classic sound” option to the reforged tab.
  17. In gameplay options move the “Show portraits in cinematics” option to the reforged tab.
  18. In gameplay options move the “Classic cursor” option to the reforged tab.
  19. Players can now chat during cinematics (cinematic mode on) and when different windows are up such as victory/defeat window (when the “Continue” and “Quit” buttons appear).
  20. The Quests window should be improved to allow more than 3 main quests and more than 4 rows of text to be displayed. The current quests window already has enough space to display 5 rows of text without needing to make the quests window bigger.
  21. Make it possible to change camera distance (default and max distance) in options while playing a map.
  22. When using “Advanced observer mode” when watching a replay and you click the button in top left corner of screen that has “Units” and “Production”, you can’t click on the buttons in the drop down menu if the player you are observing has a hero since the hero portrait overlaps. Also the window showing resources and apm is overlapping with the default HUD in the top right corner of the screen.
  23. The option “Advanced observer mode” should be deleted from options and instead be added to the HUD, you should be able to turn it on and off (like a checkbox) when you are watching a replay. Right now you have to restart the replay if you want to watch in advanced observer mode.
  24. The game no longer pauses when you open the “Quests” window or “Logs” window when playing singleplayer, similar to playing multiplayer.
  25. Make it so the lowest setting for “default camera distance” and “max camera distance” in options is 1650 since that is the default before reforged was released. Only the map maker should be able to allow less than 1650 in World editor for their custom map. In addition, make it so you cannot zoom out more than 2000 for versus mode and melee maps in custom games. Being able to zoom out to ridiculous values such as 3000 makes the game harder to play since it adds an unnecessary depth to the game which we didn’t have before reforged. Only the map maker should be able to allow more than 2000 in World editor for their custom map.

Audio

  1. Added back Thrall’s original roar audio when Grom dies in the orc cinematic when you play on classic mode.
  2. “Movement sounds” in options forced to on and removed from options. It is now part of “Sound effects” (Standard gameplay sound effects).
  3. Added back the original “Storm, earth and fire” (Power of the Horde) song. The version with the crowd cheering audio that was added in reforged has been removed from the game.

World Editor

  1. The option “Game Data Version” has been removed and it is forced to “Frozen Throne”.
  2. Campaign units, which are in the campaign folders in the object editor, now have latest Blizzard patch such as changes for their maximum health, shadow, scale, gold cost, priority, attack speed, movement speed and starting mana. For instance Arthas’ attack speed reduced from 2.2 to 2.0 and Arthas’ shadow is bigger, Jaina has the same strength per level and move speed as archmage and undead sky barge has the same hp as zeppelin. Mur’gul Reaver should have the same icon (game interface) as Mur’gul Marauder because it’s the same model and to prevent having the same icon as Watery Minion. Naga siren master training research time should be reduced from 75 to 60 seconds. Please update the campaign units and upgrades when releasing any new balance patches in the future.
  3. Fixed not being able to click “Suggested players” in certain area in map properties.
  4. When browsing custom games and you select a lobby in the list, it will say “MAP PREVIEW UNAVAILABLE” and the minimap picture won’t show. There used to be NSFW pictures which map makers added before reforged was released. In World editor map properties, there is a setting “Scenario → Map description → Options tab → Hide minimap in preview screens”, this setting doesn’t work and should be deleted.
  5. Add a new action used to disable (by graying out) the checkbox option “share units” in the allies window for all players. When a player leaves only then should you get control of units.
  6. Add a new action used to block players from trading resources (sending gold and lumber) to a specific computer slot, so trading resources checkboxes are greyed out in the allies window for a specific computer slot such as brown computer slot.
  7. Graphics are now set to high instead of medium by default.
  8. The option to automatically create a new empty map when you start the World editor has been turned off and deleted since it is useless.
  9. The button “Calculate Shadows and Save Map” needs to be changed and then deleted. Make it so shadows are calculated automatically in real time when you add a doodad or create cliffs.
  10. When left clicking units that are placed in a map to open Unit Properties window and not clicking ok or cancel and if you continue to left click different units the “Unit Properties window” will become longer and longer and eventually text in all windows and menus will become invisible. Happens when Unit palette window is open.
  11. The action “Set Variable” has a visual issue where the word “Set” appears twice in GUI, example: Set VariableSet Arthas = Arthas 0032
    Please fix so it appears like this instead: Set Variable Arthas = Arthas 0032
  12. Many duplicate units and abilities should be deleted in object editor. For instance the roar ability which druid of the claw has in night elf form should be deleted from the game. Then give druid of the claw (night elf form) the roar (neutral hostile) ability which creeps (wolves) have since the roar abilities have the same stats, no need for duplicate. There are in fact triplicate, delete the third called “roar (skeletal orc champion)” since no unit uses that.
  13. Many units are placed in wrong folders in object editor, for instance corrupted moonwell should be in night elf campaign buildings folder but it is currently in neutral passive buildings folder.
  14. When you copy a custom unit from another map by first selecting the unit and then copy pasting into your map: the unit is not added in Object editor. You no longer have to first copy the unit in Object editor to make it appear in Object editor with correct settings.
  15. If you delete variables from “Object Manager” then World editor can sometimes freeze, for instance if you used the setting “auto generate unknown variables” when you copied triggers from another map. Make it so variables cannot be deleted via “Object manager” window.
  16. Help menu has the button “World editor help…” which doesn’t work, it says unable to open file. I recommend just deleting it.
  17. Merge the 4 unit inventory abilities into 1 (delete 3 of them) and merge the 4 backpack upgrades into 1 (delete 3 of them) and make all races have exactly the same backpack upgrade, so all units have exactly the same unit inventory ability. Then edit “Text - Tooltip - Extended” from “Gives specific Orc ground units the ability to carry items.” to “Gives specific ground units the ability to carry items.” so the tooltip can be used for all races. This would also be a nice improvement for instance when you play as orc and use dark ranger charm ability on a human unit, you then don’t need to research backpack for human units if you already researched backpack as orc.
  18. When you have reforged graphics set in options you will desync if a custom map is intended for classic graphics. a) Add an option in World editor to be able to force classic graphics setting for all players for your custom map, so it automatically changes during loading screen, then when you finished playing the custom map it should automatically change back to the setting you previously had. b) Also when you play reforged maps in classic mode you can crash/desync. Changing “particles” setting to “low” in options can fix it for some custom maps but doesn’t fix all crashes/desyncs.
  19. The advanced tool “Replace Doodads…”: Old doodads don’t get replaced if they were placed inside other doodads with shift button, it should automatically change “Pathing - Pathing Texture” in Object editor to “NONE” of the new doodad when you press “OK” and then change “Pathing - Pathing Texture” to what it previously was when it finishes replacing.
  20. There is a bug with “Replace Doodads…” if you for instance replace indestructible trees with normal trees (destructible), when it finishes replacing and you select one of the new destructible trees and open the “Doodads Properties” window it will display “0” in “Life (%)”, to fix this bug you need to save the map and close World editor and open the map again, after that it will automatically change “Life (%)” to 100 (if you set hp of tree to for instance 80 in Object editor).
  21. Delete unused gameplay constants.
  22. Make it so folders in Object editor don’t automatically open/expand, it is tiresome to manually have to collapse/close those folders.
  23. In Scenario menu → “Forces”, “Techtree”, “Abilities” and “Upgrades", increase the size of the lists to cover more of the window so you don’t have to scroll.
  24. In AI Editor the “Test Configuration” should be deleted. It is pointless to test AI script in a different map instead of the map you’re making, since AI behaves different in each map due to different triggers, placement of buildings etc.
  25. In the object editor, the setting “Defense type” renamed to “Armor type” and the option “Large” renamed to “Heavy” to have the same name as in-game.
  26. When you have a custom value for a gameplay constant, for instance maximum food set to 80, and when you decide to reset the value to default it will now properly save when you press “OK”. Previously you would need to press “OK” and then instantly save map and close the world editor otherwise it wouldn’t save the change you made.
  27. The action “Quest - Create Quest”, renamed quest type “Required” to “Main”, and renamed “Required, undiscovered” to “Main, undiscovered”, to make it same as in-game.
  28. “Advanced-> Item Tables…”, it’s now possible to add an item table to units which are spawned using actions in a trigger. “Item tables” now selectable as an option in the action “Item - Create” in the “Item-Type window”. We hope this saves map makers a lot of time when creating maps and it prevents RNG from breaking when a new patch is released! (due to the setting in object editor “Include as random choice” being changed sometimes for certain items if you are using “level -1” RNG item setting in your map).
  29. “File → Preferences → Test Map”, the option “Use Fixed Random Seed” is now forced to off and deleted the setting completely to prevent breaking RNG maps such as variables and “item level -1 setting”.
  30. When you click a unit to open the “Unit properties” window you can’t set starting hp of a unit to a specific number, only mana. If you have a unit with 500 max hp you can’t set starting hp to 1 because you can only set it in percentage meaning 1% which becomes 5 hp. Make the setting for starting hp normal numbers instead of percentage. There is also a bug when you increase the intelligence stat of a hero in the “Unit properties” window, then the starting mana won’t be higher than the intelligence stat set in “Object editor”, it would be best to not allow changing stats intelligence, strength and agility (remove those settings) in “Unit properties” window.
  31. When you click “File->Configure Controls” it takes too long to load because there are many duplicate keybindings which can be deleted, for instance in “Terrain editor tab” there are two “Edit - Copy” (one of them is CTRL+C and the other CTRL+I). Please delete the “Edit - Copy” which has keybindings set to CTRL+I and find all the other duplicates and delete them.
  32. “Map properties-> Options”, “Use item classification system” is now always forced to on and the setting is now hidden as it is pointless to change it.
  33. When you are using “World Editor” your status automatically changes to “Warcraft III World Editor” instead of only showing your status as “Online” in friends list in-game and on Battle.net Desktop App.
  34. Merge the option “- All” with “- Search for text -->” in the “Action Type list” in the “Configue Action window” because they show the same type of actions, this would also make the search box appear by default which would be great.
  35. “Advanced-> Item Tables…” and “Unit Properties->Items Dropped” make it so items in each set are automatically sorted so that the item with the highest drop chance is placed at the top of the list and the item with the lowest drop chance at the bottom of the list.
  36. I have previously mentioned that there are duplicate and unused abilities in Object editor that should be deleted to optimize the game, to make it faster to browse abilities (keep it tidy) and so maps use the latest version of each ability for balanced gameplay. You should have cleaned up the Object editor when you released Reforged, trying to clean up the abilities in Object editor now many years later would force map makers to update their maps to fix any issues. For example there are 2x purge abilities (“Orc->Units” folder) and 2x feral spirit abilities (“Neutral hostile->Heroes” and “Orc->Heroes”). If you say “No we’re not going to delete all duplicate abilities” then at least name them differently to let us know which ability is old. In addition, a lot of abilities are missing unit name in “Text - Editor Suffix” for instance cannibalize and frost attack to make it clear which unit each ability is for.
  37. Delete the splash dialog and splash sound found in “Preferences->General” as they are unnecessary.
  38. In object editor delete the unnecessary option “None” from “Stats - Hit Points Regeneration Type” because you can change the regeneration rate to 0 instead.

Hotkeys

  1. The “Classic” hotkeys setting in options renamed to “Standard” and changed hotkeys to Q, W, E and R for spells of heroes, units and creeps except for workers: Change hotkey to Q for hero spells holy light, windwalk etc.
    W for hero spells divine shield, thunder clap etc.
    E for hero abilities learn evasion, vampiric aura etc.
    R for hero ultimate spells summon infernal, earthquake etc.
    Q for unit abilities such as footman defend, sorceress slow etc.
    W for unit abilities such as druid of claw rejuvenation, priest dispel magic etc.
  2. For players who click abilities instead of use hotkeys for night elf buildings: When a unit is training and you click “Cancel” then it’s easy to accidentally click “Uproot”, since “Cancel” and “Uproot” are in the same position in the command card. The “Uproot” ability should be moved in the command card and placed above “Set Rally Point”.

Multiplayer

  1. You can now reset all your versus stats, wins and losses, in your profile to 0 for 5 dollars, half of the money goes to prize pool for tournaments.
  2. Please do something about “Versus” as it has unpopular settings, long wait times and cheaters. a) 4vs4 arranged team should be removed from versus to reduce wait times and is not played at real tournaments with prize pool. It is filled with cheaters who match up against their own accounts. You can find cheaters when browsing leaderboards they have accounts with for instance 0 wins and 100+ losses and in details 0 heroes used. Keep only 4vs4 random team. b) 3vs3 arranged team should be removed from versus and tournaments to reduce wait times and is not played at real tournaments with prize pool. Keep only 3vs3 random team. c) FFA should be removed from versus. Then add an option when creating a lobby in custom games called “FFA” where the lobby automatically creates unique teams which are locked. If a map is not intended for melee mode then the “FFA” setting should be ignored and if a melee map allows for instance max 8 players then 8 unique teams are automatically created and locked in lobby. This solves the issue with players trolling by changing team and players don’t have to manually pick a unique team number in lobby. Finally add new game mechanic where the map starts to becomes smaller and smaller in FFA by making the edges of the map disappear forcing the players to the middle of the map to make the game end faster.

Balance

General

  1. If you have 1 hero it gets extra experience points when you have tier 2 by 15% and tier 3 by 30%. This information needs to be added as a passive ability icon in command card of keep, castle, stronghold, fortress, halls of the dead, black citadel, tree of ages and tree of eternity. I recommend using the icon of tome of greater experience.
  2. Auras such as trueshot aura now apply to nearby units even when the unit providing the aura is invisible. For instance when Priestess of the moon uses shadow meld, trueshot aura will continue to apply to nearby units while the Priestess of the moon is invisible. Another example is if you use Sorceress invisibility spell on Archmage, brilliance aura will continue apply to nearby units while the Archmage is invisible.
  3. Fountain of Health no longer restores health based on a unit’s max hp, instead all units are healed 4 hp per second. Similar with Fountain of Mana, it now gives 2 mana per second to all units instead of 1 percent based on a unit’s max mana. If this is done make it so the Destroyer can regenerate mana from Fountain of Mana but remove the ability ‘Absorb Mana’ from Destroyer.
  4. Many abilities with 0 second cooldown now have 1 second cooldown so it’s for instance easier to tell when an ability has been used. For instance the abilities eat tree, roar, reveal (goblin laboratory), storm crow form, bear form, cannibalize, burrow (fiend and beetle), disenchant and abolish magic.
  5. Workers you start with automatically mine and lumber in melee maps such as in versus mode directly after a map has loaded, a nice quality of life change and gets games going faster.
  6. Lower the gameplay constant “Reaction Delay (sec) - Maximum” from 0.25 to 0.20 to remove some of the artificial delay that players complain about.
  7. Add a passive ability (icon) in command card of sentry ward to make it clear that it reveals invisible units within 1100 range (the ability is named “Detector (Sentry Ward)”).
  8. Hero abilities Searing arrows, Incinerate, Black arrow and Frost arrows can now stack with maximum 1 orb item in your inventory such as orb of slow effect or orb of corruption armor reduction effect. However orb items’ effects in your inventory still cannot stack with other orb items’ effects in your inventory.
  9. Cyclone duration changed to 18 (5) seconds all sources (Druid of the Talon, Harpy Queen, Storm (Brewmaster) and Wand of the wind item) and added tooltip text explaining that it removes all buffs.

Items

  1. There are 2 different level settings for each item, “Stats - Level” and “Stats - Level (Unclassified)”, for instance “Legion Doom-Horn” has level 5 and 7. Please delete the setting “Stats - Level (Unclassified)” and make Warcraft 3 and the World Editor only have “Stats - Level” for browsing, creating and dropping items (Tool Palette, Triggers, Unit Properties…).
  2. Add a new gameplay constant “Items invulnerable” with option “True” or “False”. Sometimes players accidentally destroy items when attack-moving (ops!) and if a troll joins your game they can destroy all items on purpose.
  3. Mask of death = Rework it to not to be an orb effect, so it can stack with orb effects similar to the item “Assassin’s Blade”. Also reduce hp recovered from 50% to 40%.
  4. Enable item stacking 2/2 in inventory (increase “max stacks” setting to 2 in object editor) for Potion of Healing, Scroll of Town Portal, Sentry Ward (set max stacks to 4 since it has 2 charges) and Scroll of Protection. The best way to unstack items in Warcraft 3 would be to add a new ability in command card for all heroes called “Unstack item”, you click the ability and then click the item in your inventory that you want to unstack.
  5. Runed Bracers = Change so it also gives +1 armor to the hero, similar to the item “frost wyrm skull shield”, and keep gold cost at 400.
  6. Frost wyrm skull shield = Increase armor from 2 to 3, fix tooltip text so it says spell damage not magic damage and change gold cost from 750 to 500.
  7. Diamond of summoning = Change classification from permanent to miscellaneous.
  8. Boots of speed = Remove it from goblin merchant and change classification from permanent to miscellaneous. Boots of speed is ruining melee games since you can easily kill units such as peasants, archers and grunts because they run much slower. It turns melee games into hero siege. Removing it would free up an inventory slot for all heroes since everybody is kind of forced to buy this item now.
  9. Circlet of Nobility = Remove it from goblin merchant. It turns melee games into hero siege. Units such as peasants, archers and grunts have no chance against a hero which buys this permanent item from merchant. Being able to buy this permanent item from merchant also removes the fun from creeping and buying other items.
  10. Ring of protections = All ring of protections were ruined in patch 1.31 and 2.0.2, they are currently too low level and too cheap. Gold cost of each ring of protection needs to be changed to the following: ring of protection +1 50g and then from there increase gold cost of ring of protection +2 100g, +3 150g, +4 225g and +5 350g. Ring of protection +4 should then be added back to creep loot table. Also change level of Ring of protection +2 from 2 to 0.
  11. Staff of teleportation = Change classification from permanent to purchasable.
  12. Potion of omniscience = Change classification from charged to miscellaneous and change “include as random choice” to false.
  13. Wand of lightning shield = Change classification from charged to miscellaneous.
  14. Wand of shadowsight = Change classification from charged to miscellaneous and change “include as random choice” to false.
  15. All runes = Need detailed text description when selected with cursor how much they heal, how many units they revive and how much mana they restore since they are actively used when picked up.
  16. Runes that give health or mana such as Rune of Greater Mana are too strong. Need to be nerfed similar to how mana potion and scroll of restoration was nerfed.
  17. Rune of lesser healing = Set “Stats - include as random choice” to false.
  18. Clarity potion (NOT lesser clarity potion) = Change classification from purchasable to miscellaneous.
  19. Scroll of mana = Increase gold cost from 150 to 250 and change classification from purchasable to miscellaneous.
  20. Spider silk broach = Item web ability needs to be changed from 20 seconds cooldown to 12 seconds and duration on units from 20 to 12 seconds and change classification from purchasable to miscellaneous.
  21. Staff of negation = Change classification from purchasable to miscellaneous and change level from 3 to 0.
  22. Tiny castle (NOT tiny great hall) = Change classification from purchasable to miscellaneous.
  23. Vampiric potion = Increase gold cost from 150 to 200, reduce steal amount from 75 to 25 percent. Set “Stats - include as random choice” to false and change classification from charged to miscellaneous.
  24. Potion of lesser invulnerability = Change “include as random choice” to false.
  25. Wand of neutralization = Change classification from purchasable to miscellaneous.
  26. Anti-magic potion = Change classification from miscellaneous to purchasable.
  27. Arcane scroll = Reduce gold cost from 1000 to 600.
  28. Keg of ale = Reduce gold cost from 850 to 800. Change text tooltip to be the same as sobi mask and ring of regen (2 hp per second and 50% mana regen) to make it clear what the stats are.
  29. Lesser scroll of replenishment = Rename it to “Scroll of Replenishment”, reduce life regenerated from 250 to 225 to match scroll of regeneration and reduce gold cost from 400 to 200.
  30. Scroll of animate dead = The item ability setting “Raised units are invulnerable” needs to be changed to false and “Inherit upgrades” to true, to match latest patch of death knight’s ability animate dead. Gold cost should be reduced from 700 to 600 because it’s weaker than scroll of resurrection.
  31. Scroll of the unholy legion = Delete from the game and the World editor. Replace it with scroll of animate dead, they are the same. It uses the icon of banshee master training so we will still have the icon when the item is deleted.
  32. Red drake egg = Reduce gold cost from 550 to 450.
  33. Potion of divinity = There are 2 items named this, duplicates. One is in classification “charged” and the other one in “miscellaneous.” Delete the one in “miscellaneous”.
  34. Auras items such as The lion horn of Stormwind have wrong tooltips, please fix decimal values in tooltip of items.
  35. Goblin land mines = Reduce their damage since they are too strong especially against buildings. I recommend setting it to same damage stats as goblin sapper, reduce activation delay from 10 to 7 seconds as stasis trap and add activation delay information in tooltip.
  36. Staff of preservation = Change classification from miscellaneous to purchasable.
  37. Tiny barracks, tiny farm, tiny lumber mill, tiny blacksmith and tiny altar of kings = Gold and lumber cost of each of these needs to be balanced. Some are currently cheaper to buy as an item than to build with a peasant.
  38. Warsong Battle Drums = There are 2 items named this, duplicates. The one in miscellaneous with the “command aura buff” should be deleted from the Object editor. The one with “war drums buff” says in tooltip text that the item gives 7% attack damage, but units actually get 7.5%, fix decimal values in tooltip of items.
  39. Glyph of ultravision = Delete it from the game. This is the most useless glyph, all units have this as possible research which is bloated.
  40. Rune of speed = Reduce duration from 20 to 15 sec and change gold cost to 70.
  41. Horn of the Clouds = Change from channelled spell to instant cast spell and reduce duration from 30 to 14 seconds.
  42. Potion of speed = Reduce duration from 45 to 15 seconds and replace boots of speed in goblin merchant with potion of speed.
  43. Ring of the archmagi = There are 4 items with the same name, they should be renamed to “Ring of the archmagi 1, Ring of the archmagi 2, Ring of the archmagi 3 and Ring of the archmagi 4” and their level changed to 0 with exception of “Ring of archmagi 3” which should keep level 4. “Ring of the archmagi 4” gold cost should be increased from 750 to 1000 and add detailed tooltip from Khadgar’s pipe of insight to make it clear what the stats are.
  44. Gloves of spell mastery = Make it also give +2 armor. Increase mana cost from 25 to 40, mana per summoned hitpoint from 0.30 to 0.35 and “Stats targets allowed” is missing “organic”, to match latest patch of control magic.
  45. Talisman of the wild = Reduce number of charges from 3 to 2 and gold cost from 550 to 400. It needs to be a lower level item.
  46. Spiked collar = Reduce gold cost from 550 to 500, since fel stalker mana burn was nerfed.
  47. Mana stone = Missing “Art - Icon normal” for ability “Item Mana Regeneration (Lesser)” in the Object editor. There are many more item abilities in the Object editor which are missing their icon or have the wrong icon.
  48. Tome of experience = Change classification from power up to miscellaneous and level from 2 to 0.
  49. Flare gun = Change level from 3 to 0.
  50. Monster lure = Change level from 3 to 0.
  51. Potion of invisibility and potion of greater invisibility = When you use the potion of invisibility it takes 2 seconds for it to fully activate, during those 2 seconds you are able to cast spells and still be invisible even though the tooltip doesn’t mention this. Change it so it instantly turns your hero invisible, change data transition time from 2 to 0, as this would make it a decent replacement for potion of lesser invulnerability in certain cases.
  52. Orb of Kil’jaeden = Reduce gold cost from 450 to 325, increase damage from 6 to 10 and splash damage radius from 140 to 150.
  53. Orb of fire = There are 2 items named this, duplicates. Delete the orb of fire with the splash damage as Orb of Kil’jeaden already does that. Keep the orb of fire which adds the reduced healing and regen debuff.
  54. Greater scroll of replenishment = Reduce gold cost from 500 to 350 and change level from 6 to 0.
  55. Gem of true seeing = Change level from 2 to 0 and gold cost from 200 to 400.
  56. Alleria’s flute of accuracy = It says in tooltip text that the item gives 7% increased attack damage to ranged units, but units actually get 7.5%, fix decimal values in tooltip of items.
  57. Arcanite shield: Fix tooltip text so it says reduces piercing damage and change so it reduces piercing damage by 50 percent.
  58. Scepter of the sea = Increase charges from 5 to 10 and all stats from +2 to +3.
  59. Blue drake egg = Fix the attack AOE damage of blue drake unit so it does damage against debris. It needs to have same attack AOE as frost wyrm in object editor: Combat - Attack 1 - Area of Effect Targets: Debris, enemy, ground, structures. Full dmg 25, medium 50 and small 200. Those 4 settings are empty at the moment causing the bug.
  60. Ancient Janggo of endurance: Shows wrong tooltip, fix decimal values in tooltip of items.
  61. Legion Doom-Horn: Shows wrong tooltip, fix decimal values in tooltip of items.
  62. Book of the dead = Skeleton warriors have different maximum health compared to necromancer’s raise dead skeleton warriors and the Skeleton archer regen 0.5 hp/s always but it should be changed to 2hp/s while on blight.
  63. Wand of illusion = There is a bug with collection skins. If you for instance change model of paladin hero to a custom model in World editor for your custom map, then use wand of illusion it will show the selected collection skin such as Arthas with frostmourne instead of the custom model.
  64. Killmain = Reduce damage from 20 to 15, reduce gold cost by half and update the tooltip by copying the tooltip of mask of death to make it clear how much health your attacks steal.
  65. Bladebane armor: Tooltip is wrong, it says 1 armor to all units but units actually get 1.5 armor and it says “defense” instead of “armor”. Tooltip from “The lion horn of stormwind” should be copied and used. Reduce armor which the hero receives from 7 to 5 and reduce gold cost from 3500 to 800.
  66. Sacred relic = Deleted it from the game since it’s a duplicate, it’s the same as “ancient janggo of endurance”. Morg’s dialogue in Founding of Durotar campaign still make sense with “ancient janggo of endurance” instead and edited the quest description.
  67. Firehand gauntlets = Reduce armor from 5 to 3 and gold cost from 3500 to 800.
  68. Runed gauntlets = Reduce gold cost from 725 to 400.
  69. Enchanted shield = Reduce gold cost from 650 to 200.
  70. Sturdy war axe = Reduce gold cost from 600 to 250.
  71. Drek’thar’s spellbook = Change mana bonus from 50 to 100, fix the tooltip by copying tooltip from runed bracers (right now it says “reduces spell damage by X” instead of “reduces Spell damage dealt to the Hero by X”) and reduce gold cost from 3350 to 3000.
  72. Crown of the deathlord = Reduce gold cost from 6400 to 2000.
  73. Ancestral staff = Copy and use the tooltip from “Ancient Janggo of Endurance” to make it clear exactly how much attack speed and move speed units receive.
  74. Horn of cenarius = Change classification from “Campaign” to “Miscellaneous” (since the campaign folder in object editor is for items without abilities). Increase gold cost from 200 to 800 and change the settings “sold to merchants” and “sold by merchants” to true. Also make it so Malfurion has it in inventory slot 6 instead of slot 1 in the night elf ROC campaign.
  75. Rename “Crown of kings +5” to “Crown of Kings”, remove the “+5” from the name since only one item with this name exists. There are many more items with unnecessary “+number” in their name, for instance rename “Gauntlets of Ogre Strength +3” to “Gauntlets of Ogre Strength”. Only items with the same name such as claws of attack should have “+number” in their name.
  76. Shaman claws item = Reduce gold cost from 950 to 800 and proc chance from 35 to 30 on units and summons.
  77. Thunderlizard diamond item = Delete it from the game. It’s not pleasant to listen to chain lightning sound spam since it costs no mana to use and has infinite charges. For instance damage is reduced by 0.25 per target (as chain lightning creep version) instead of 0.1 per target which far seer chain lightning has, experienced players sell it to buy a better item. In the Rexxar singleplayer campaign you should replace Thunderlizard diamond with Scepter of avarice.
  78. In Object editor the option “Artifact” in the setting “Stats - Classification” of items is unnecessary and should be deleted. No item needs the classification “Artifact” because the current artifact items have level 7 or level 8 while all other items are below level 7. Then change the “Artifact” items to correct classification, for instance “Claws of attack +15” should be changed to “Permanent” and “Inferno stone” to “Charged”.
  79. Crystal Ball = Remove it from creep loot table (to make far sight, flare, reveal, scout (owl) etc. more appealing).
  80. Helm of valor = Reverted stats from “+5 strength and agility” to “+4 strength and agility”.

Human

  1. Paladin “Art – Animation – Cast Backswing” reduced from 1.67 to 0.5.
  2. Paladin divine shield gives immunity to forced movement effects such as naga’s ultimate tornado spell and removes disease debuff.
  3. Paladin holy light can now damage demonic units such as doomguard.
  4. Paladin Holy Light cooldown reverted from 5.5 to 5 seconds.
  5. Archmage “Art – Animation – Cast Backswing” reduced from 2.4 to 0.5.
  6. Archmage blizzard no longer deals friendly fire but still deals damage to self (Removed target “friend” but kept “self”).
  7. Archmage blizzard mana cost increased from 75 to 80.
  8. Added tooltip text in Archmage blizzard spell explaining that it does up to 150/200/250 damage per wave, so players understand why it doesn’t deal full damage to all targets.
  9. Archmage Brilliance Aura tooltip now displays the values 0.75/1.25/2 instead of the words minor/moderate/heavy.
  10. Archmage Mass Teleport spell now makes the Archmage invulnerable while casting it (similar to Scroll of Town Portal) and increased AOE from 800 to 900.
  11. Archmage Brilliance aura level 3 mana regeneration reduced from 2 to 1.9.
  12. Mountain King Thunder Clap ability AOE increased from 300/325/350 to 350/350/350.
  13. Mortar team “Art – Animation – Cast Backswing” reduced from 0.9 to 0.8.
  14. Mortar team “Art - Animation - Cast point” reduced from 1.1 to 0.7.
  15. Flare no longer requires Keep.
  16. Blood mage “Art – Animation – Cast Backswing” reduced from 1 to 0.5.
  17. Blood mage “Art - Animation - Cast point” reduced from 0.5 to 0.3.
  18. Banish level 3 cooldown increased from 0 to 1 second.
  19. Deleted the gameplay constant “Gameplay – Ethereal Damage Bonus Ally”, friendly units now take extra damage while banished.
  20. Increased hatch time of Phoenix egg by 1 second.
  21. Mechanical critter removed from arcane vault.
  22. Ivory tower renamed to “Tiny Scout Tower” to be consistent with other building items and reduced maximum stock in arcane vault from 2 to 1, gold cost from 40 to 30 and lumber cost from 25 to 20.
  23. Scout Tower sight during night reduced from 1000 to 800.
  24. Scout Tower no longer has magic sentry ability, you need to upgrade to for instance arcane tower to detect invisible units.
  25. Cannon Tower attack projectile speed increased by 100.
  26. Arcane Tower no longer has Reveal ability.
  27. Magic Sentry upgrade moved from Arcane Sanctum to Lumber Mill and requires Keep to be researched.
  28. Milita sight during day reduced from 1400 to 1200.
  29. Call to arms ability available for all town halls, keeps and castles that you build instead of only the town hall you start with.
  30. Gryphon rider sight during night reduced from 900 to 800.
  31. Phoenix sight during night reduced from 900 to 800.
  32. Dragonhawk rider sight during night reduced from 900 to 800.

Neutral & Creeps

  1. Spiked carapace of turtles now deals damage to spell immune units.
  2. Beastmaster animation damage point reduced from 0.8 to 0.3 against air units (Attack 2) to match animation damage point against ground units (Attack 1).
  3. Beastmaster turn rate increased from 0.4 to 0.5.
  4. Beast master summon bear spell allow maximum 1 active bear which lasts forever similar to Misha in Founding of Durotar (and like hunter pet in World of warcraft classic). This allows you to resummon your bear to deny exp if the bear is about to die. Removed blink from level 3 bear. Added resistant skin ability for level 2 and level 3 bear in command card.
  5. Beast master “Art - Animation - Cast point” reduced from 0.5 to 0.3.
  6. Firelord no longer has 0.33 seconds slower attack speed when attacking air units (Attack 2) compared to attacking ground units (Attack 1).
  7. Firelord Incinerate now works against mechanical units.
  8. Firelord Soul Burn now works against mechanical units.
  9. Firelord Volcano now also hits air units.
  10. Tinker missile set to none instead of having brewmaster missile for Combat - Attack 1 - Projectile art.
  11. Tinker “Art - Animation - Cast point” reduced from 0.53 to 0.3.
  12. Bandit lord divine shield gives immunity to forced movement effects such as naga’s ultimate tornado spell and removes disease debuff.
  13. Added “Resistant skin (neutral 2)” passive ability to each creep unit who is above level 5 and deleted the hardcoded setting that “gives all creep units above level 5 spell resistance”. This solves many issues such as the bug with “Furbolg Ursa Warrior (lvl 8)” cannot be polymorphed, but if a unit with high level has resistant skin you are able to polymorph it such as “Doom Guard (lvl 8)”.
  14. Reduced collision size of all flying creeps. For instance dragon whelps collision size reduced from 48 to 8 to match frost wyrm.
  15. Skeleton archer now has medium armor instead of heavy armor since it is a ranged unit. Both the creep version and the version summoned with the item book of the dead.
  16. Removed shadow meld from all creeps such as Assassin and Murloc Nightcrawler, instead those units have received evasion ability.
  17. Spells and abilities of creeps are now in better sync with the latest Blizzard patch: For example hardened skin reduces 8 instead of 12 damage and those creeps have increased armor by 2 instead, war stomp deals 30 damage instead of 25, shockwave costs 90 mana instead of 100 and heal cooldown increased from 1 to 1.1 seconds. Queen of Suffering “Charm (Neutral Hostile)” increased cooldown from 20 to 60 seconds, mana cost from 125 to 150 and decreased range from 700 to 650. There are many more abilities that need to be fixed, for instance Maiden of Pain “Life Drain (Neutral Hostile)” AOE from 950 to 700, cast range from 500 to 600 and hp drained from 55 to 45 and “Shadow Strike (Neutral Hostile)” mana cost from 65 to 75.
  18. Blue drake attack AOE now also targets wards. It has the same attack AOE as frost wyrm in object editor: Combat - Attack 1 - Area of Effect Targets: Debris, enemy, ground, structures, ward. Full dmg 25, medium 50 and small 200. As well as damage factor medium setting changed from 0 to 0.2 and small to 0.1.
  19. Blue drake now has the “frost attack icon” in command card.
  20. Pitlord “Art - Animation - Cast point” reduced from 0.75 to 0.4.
  21. Doomguard spawned from Pitlord Doom ability is now the creep version which has 1350 hp instead of 1600 hp (and deleted the Doomguard unit with 1600 hp in object editor to prevent having duplicates).
  22. Pitlord Doom ability now works against mechanical units.
  23. Pitlord rain of fire cooldown reduced from 8 to 6 seconds to match Archmage’s blizzard spell.
  24. Pitlord rain of fire mana cost reduced from 85 to 80.
  25. Pitlord rain of fire no longer deals friendly fire but still deals damage to self (Removed target “friend” but kept “self”).
  26. Rain of fire (creep version used by for instance doomguard) no longer deals friendly fire but still deals damage to self (Removed target “friend” but kept “self”).
  27. Pitlord Cleaving Attack splash damage reverted from 40/65/90% to 25/45/65%.
  28. Overlord “Cleaving attack (Neutral hostile)” ability now targets wards.
  29. Settings for creeps (neutral hostile units) are not consistent. Take for instance all different dragon whelps, drakes and dragons. Red whelp’s attack AOE can’t target (damage) wards while other whelps such as green and blue don’t have this bug. Target “ward” is missing for red whelp. Black whelp doesn’t have missile splash but “ward” and “ground” have been added as targets of AOE damage. When it comes to the drakes only blue and nether do attack AOE damage while others don’t have missile splash attack type. Other drakes such as red drake should also do splash damage. I have previously said blue drake needs the same ground- and air AOE attack fixes which was previously fixed for frost wyrm. The dragons also have different setting. Green, red and black dragons have debris and structures as target for attack AOE while bronze, blue and nether do not. And their AOE full and small setting is different by 25. The attack AOE of each creep unit needs to be fixed so units deal proper AOE damage to intended targets such as wards, debris, ground units, air units etc. and so “air AOE attack” damage air units only and “ground AOE attack” damage ground units only.
  30. Alchemist “Art - Animation - Cast point” reduced from 0.4 to 0.3.
  31. Alchemist Acid Bomb now works against mechanical units.
  32. Alchemist Healing Spray AOE increased from 250 to 275.
  33. Goblin sapper hp regen reduced from 0.500 to 0.250 to make it consistent with other units.
  34. Goblin sapper turn rate increased from 0.5 to 0.6.
  35. Goblin sapper food cost reduced from 2 to 1.
  36. Dark ranger acquisition range reduced from 650 to 600.
  37. Dark ranger “Attack 2 - Animation Backswing Point” changed from 0.7 to 0.3.
  38. Dark ranger “Attack 2 - Animation Damage point” changed from 0.3 to 0.7 (attacks against air units) to have the same settings as “Attack 1” (attacks against ground units).
  39. Dark ranger Charm spell range reduced from 700 to 650 (to match Alchemist Transmute and Pitlord Doom).
  40. All types of dark minions sight during night increased from 600 to 800.
  41. When Infernal juggernaut dies the corpse is too high up from the ground and/or lasts too long, therefore players can’t see any items infernal juggernaut drops since the corpse is hiding the items.
  42. Units that can transport other units for instance zeppelin and orc transport ship now have resistant skin ability.
  43. Infernal contraption, infernal machine, infernal juggernaut and all different types of sea giants move speed increased from 200 to 240.
  44. Sea witch animation damage point increased from 0.46 to 0.73 for attacks against air units (Attack 2) to have the same setting as attacks against ground units (Attack 1).
  45. Sea witch frost arrows movement speed slow changed from -30/-50/-70% to -25/-45/-65%, attack speed slow has not been changed.
  46. Changed the name of Cold Arrows ability (used by creeps) to Frost Arrows (used by sea witch hero) since they are the same ability.

Bug Fixes

  1. Disease cloud debuff reapplies on units instead of only being able to reapply when ended. This fixes the issue with disease of creeps, which does 1 dmg per sec, not being overwritten by disease cloud debuff from abomination and meat wagon, which does 2 dmg per sec.
  2. Mountain king bash ability has misleading tooltip in “Text - Tooltip - Learn - Extended”, it says 25 bonus damage in general tooltip text while each level tooltip says otherwise. Delete the first “<AHbh,DataC1>” in this tooltip to fix it: “Gives a chance that an attack will do <AHbh,DataC1> bonus damage and stun the target for <AHbh,Dur1> seconds. |n|n|cffffcc00Level 1|r - <AHbh,DataA1>% chance per attack. <AHbh,DataC1> bonus damage. |n|cffffcc00Level 2|r - <AHbh,DataA2>% chance per attack. <AHbh,DataC2> bonus damage. |n|cffffcc00Level 3|r - <AHbh,DataA3>% chance per attack. <AHbh,DataC3> bonus damage.”
  3. Sorceress spell polymorph (sheep) in tooltip text says “cannot be used on heroes” which is false. Delete that text in tooltip because polymorph can be used on heroes.
  4. Fixed Archer’s passive icon ability marksmanship border, it is now borderless.
  5. Fixed Banshee death animation when killed by artillery such as cannon tower by setting “art – special” to NONE.
  6. When you try to delete a saved game using the in-game buttons it doesn’t work and can cause the game to crash for instance if you played on reforged and try to load in classic mode. Each campaign map you finish make a file appear in “Load saved games” but they cannot be loaded from there, those files should be hidden since they are automatically generated when you finish a campaign map.
  7. For the setting “Art - Model file - Portrait”, for instance the destructible “egg sack” only has 1 portrait even though there are different variants of the model, so when you select an egg sack then it might show the wrong portrait for the variant.
  8. You can no longer enter Way Gates from a long distance if units are blocking the path to it, units will no longer magically jump over all the blocking units and enter the way gate from a distance.
  9. Start the game, click “Multiplayer”, click the chat channel “W3 General”, there is an empty button appearing in the drop down list (which I think appears if someone whispered you), if you click it another button will suddently appear which is also empty in the drop down list. Clicking one of the empty buttons will show the same chat members as “W3 General”.
  10. Click “Replay” in the main menu, if you delete all replays it will still display the map name, minimap, game time etc. of the last replay you had selected and if you press the button “Watch” a popup will appear with the original Warcraft 3 TFT menu design saying “The replay file could not be loaded”. When you delete a replay make it so it also deselects that specific replay to fix this bug.
  11. Click “Replay” in main menu, it shows wrong game version for replays above the minimap it says “Game Version: 2.00”.
  12. In the main menu when you spam click some of the buttons nothing happens as it becomes unresponsive, for instance if you spam click “Options” button. All buttons in menus should be tested and fixed to prevent unnecessary delay.
  13. When you start the World editor and open a map several error messages appear in yellow color, for instance “Failed to load Environment Map for tileset”.
  14. In World editor when you click a unit to open the “Unit properties” window and then click “Abilities” tab, the tooltips shown there are bugged as they are always displaying default tooltips (the tooltips don’t update when you edit abilities in object editor, for instance if you change setting “Stats - hero ability” to false to only have 1 level of the spell).
  15. In “Collections” click “Portraits” and go to the Warcraft 2: Remastered section, the ogre portrait has the wrong name as it’s currently named “ogre-mage”. Also there are 2 portraits missing: the correct “Ogre-Mage” and the “Knight”. There are more portraits that have the wrong name.
  16. World editor: When you delete a unit variable (for instance named “Arthas”) that is used in the action “Set variable = Position of Arthas”, then it deletes the entire function “Unit - Position of Unit” instead of only the unit “Arthas” in the function. The same issue happens when you delete an integer variable, you must recreate almost the entire action in the trigger, please fix this.
  17. When you are in a lobby with a certain amount of slots, for instance 6 players/computers in “team 1” and 9 players/computers in “team 2”, the scroll bar appears but when you scroll down it’s just empty space. The scroll bar appears even though it is sometimes not needed, all the slots are already visible.
  18. On the “Match results” page after you’ve played a map it should not be possible to right-click a computer slot to report them, add them to friends and view their profile. The pop-up menu should not appear when right-clicking a computer.
  19. Night elf buildings that can uproot, such as ancient of lore, are missing “Status:” on the HUD, when they for instance use the ability “Eat tree” you can’t see the buff.
  20. When watching a replay of a game you played (for instance when you “watch last replay”), your own messages you sent are displayed two times. Also chat messages which map creator added in triggers are not displayed at all when watching a replay (For instance the action “Game - Text Message (Auto-Timed)”).
  21. Demolisher has two issues in object editor: Set “Art – Button Position (X)” to 2 (it is currently set to 0), all other units in the game have consistent position in command card except for demolisher when you make other units unavailable. Remove “Liquid Fire” upgrade from “Techtree – Upgrades used” of demolisher because it doesn’t have that ability.
  22. Watch tower, nerubian tower and spirit tower have acquisition range set higher value than their attack range, please fix. Also units that cannot attack such as Shade should have acquisition range set to 0 instead of 500.
  23. The action “Neutral Building - Remove (Item-type of (Sold Item)) from (Selling unit)” does not work on items added in object editor of shops, please fix this. That action only works for items added with triggers.
  24. Some items get deleted when you put them on the ground in World Editor. Place an item on the ground, then save the map. Close World Editor and then open the map in World Editor again. Then an error message will appear for each item: “Invalid object ID:”. The following items have this bug: Ancestral staff, Mindstaff, Staff of reanimation and all the “tiny altar/farm/blacksmith/barracks/lumber mill” items. There are probably more items that cannot be placed on the ground but those are the items I tested.
  25. In World Editor the action “Game - Set Ally Color Filter” doesn’t work and should simply be deleted.
  26. In Object editor the setting “Text - Proper Names Used” does not match the number of names in “Text - Proper Names” for blademaster, paladin, blood mage, lich, keeper of the grove, warden and sea witch.
  27. Some items have the wrong icon and text tooltip for their buff in “Status:” on the HUD when you use an item. For instance when you use Lesser clarity potion it shows “Clarity potion” icon and text tooltip should be changed to “Lesser clarity potion”. Replenishment potion is showing “Greater scroll of replenishment” icon. It would be enough if “Lesser clarity potion” and “Replenishment potion” were fixed since those two items exist in melee games.
  28. There is a bug with sight during day of Misha lvl 3 as it’s 1200 but Misha lvl 1, lvl 2 and lvl 4 have 1400.
  29. When you are learning hero abilities some of them have a tooltip issue with a dot being displayed. In Object editor the option “Text - Tooltip - Learn”, for instance for war stomp the tooltip is “Learn War Stomp - [|cffffcc00Level %d|r].”, to fix it just delete the dot at the end. Hero abilities which have this issue: war stomp (both Cairne and tauren chieftain), feral spirit (far seer) and attribute bonus.
  30. Healing ward, stasis trap ward, sentry ward and serpent ward have a bug where the ability spell immunity (neutral hostile) is not appearing in command card.
  31. When you have enabled “Goldmine unit counter” in options then it displays wrong maximum number of workers if a great hall/stonghold/fortress or town hall/keep/castle is placed further away from a gold mine, for instance in the human campaign on the second mission you need 7 workers to perfectly mine the gold mine.
  32. There is an issue when you are browsing available lobbies in custom games, when you right click your profile in the team in bottom right corner no popup menu appears.
  33. There is a bug when you invite someone to your team who is not in the general chat on the Multiplayer page, for instance if you invite friends from the “Friends” tab. If the player is playing a map or is “busy” then the option “Invite to team” when you right click players no longer appears and you have to restart the game to fix it. Make it so “Invite to team” option is grayed out if the player you want to invite is already playing a map to fix this.
  34. Start the game, click “Multiplayer” and then go to “Friends” tab, please hide the option “Invite to team” in the popup menu when you right click a friend which is online on Battlenet but isn’t playing Warcraft 3 or offline since you are unable to invite them.
  35. Fix so lowercase letters in names are correctly displayed everywhere. Lowercase is correctly displayed in names on the “Leaderboards” page (for instance the name “Dani”), but in other places such as bottom right corner in team and when you type something in chat your name is displayed with only uppercase letters (for instance my name becomes “DANI”).
  36. There is a bug with text in tooltips being cut off and positioned wrong, for instance for abilities and units. To fix it you need to remove all unnecessary spaces before all “|n” in tooltips.   37. In World editor “Scenario->Map description” in “Description:” line break is bugged if you press keyboard button “Enter”, the text looks correct in World editor but in-game for instance when you’re in a lobby it looks different.

Bug when testing map in World editor: When you get ownership of a sorceress from a computer that starts with master training researched, then all your sorceresses with adept training researched get master training. You are not supposed to get master training for free like that. “Action: Unit - Change ownership of Sorceress 0430 to (Owner of (Triggering unit)) and Change color”. The bug does not happen with other upgrades such as the armor upgrades for units such as riflemen.
  39. Rename the riderless “Kodo Beast” from the campaign to “Caravan Kodo” in object editor to prevent the kodo beast from beastiary (which has an orc riding it) from having the same name. Also delete “(Riderless)” in “Text - Name - Editor Suffix”.
  40. Polymorph doesn’t work on “summoned type units” for some odd reason, please fix this.
  41. Polymorph debuff icon doesn’t appear in “Status:” on the HUD of the unit that is polymorphed.
  42. Rename “Doom Guard” to “Doomguard” to be same as in WoW Classic. Then there’s also the “race in the unit name” issue for many units. “Goblin Sapper” and “Goblin Shredder” were renamed to “Sapper” and “Shredder” but you need rename other units also for instance “Fel Orc Grunt/Raider/Kodo Beast/Warlock” to “Fel Grunt/Raider/Kodo Beast/Warlock”. “Naga Siren” should be renamed to “Siren”. Some units on the other hand should have their race added to their name to prevent different units from having the same name, like the naga “Dragon Turtle” should be renamed to “Naga Dragon Turtle” since it currently has the same name as the “Dragon Turtle” creep. There are other issues with names of units, for instance in WoW it’s “Quilboar” in for instance Razorfen Kraul but in WC3 it’s “Quillboar” of neutral hostiles.
  43. The action “Player - Limit training of Town Hall to 1 for (Picked player)”. While you are upgrading your town hall into a keep then the game thinks it is only a keep. You need to change so the game thinks it both a town hall and a keep while it is upgrading to fix this bug. Players currently can start to upgrade town hall to keep, while the town hall is upgrading they can build another town hall and then cancel the upgrade, now they have 2 town halls even though the limit is supposed to be 1. Same issue with for instance great hall when you are upgrading it to stronghold.
  44. The Cloud spell which dragonhawk rider has disables the attack of buildings such as guard towers and buildings get a debuff icon in “Status:” on the HUD. All works perfect. But the issue is when you give a custom unit the cloud spell it disables the attack of buildings but the debuff icon doesn’t appear in “Status:” on the HUD of the buildings such as guard towers. Also Pitlord rain of fire the damage over time effect doesn’t appear as an icon in “Status:” of buildings such as scout tower. Theres probably a gameplay constant for buildings that needs to be enabled to fix this.
  45. Structures which have been destroyed still appear on the minimap if you have “Fog of war” unchecked (disabled) while watching a replay, for instance on the 5th blood elf campaign map all the orange fel orc structures still remain on the minimap after you destroyed those structures. If a structure is preplaced in World Editor only then the bug happens. The minimap bug doesn’t happen to structures which you built yourself with a worker.
  46. If you have 2 monitors that have built in speakers: smart TV and PC monitor. When you disable smart TV in Nvidia control panel while playing the game then the sound of WC3 on the PC monitor becomes silent, only way to fix it is to restart WC3. It would be great if you could switch audio devices while playing the game for instance when you are in a lobby without being forced to exit the game.
  47. Skeletal orc champion (lvl 8) “Abilities normal skin” setting in object editor, remove the ability death coil.
  48. Colds Arrows/Frost Arrows and Searing Arrows should be renamed to Frost Arrow and Searing Arrow. Because only 1 arrow is fired from these abilities. Black Arrow ability has the correct name as it’s not named plural.
  49. In custom games, click to join a lobby for a map which you don’t have, while the custom map is downloading and if you receive an invite from a friend to the same lobby where you are currently downloading from, then the download will restart from 0 again if you accept the invite. While downloading a custom map need to fix so it checks if it’s the same lobby that you are receiving an invite to after accepting the invite, to prevent map download from restarting.
  50. Main menu bug for campaigns: Play a custom map with the same name/scripts as one of the official campaign maps (For instance custom map “2P Reforged: BElf 05” with a computer normal added in lobby as Lady Vashj and -imposs difficulty, play the map for a minute and then “Quit game”), then go back to the main menu and click “Single player->Campaign”, the official campaign menu will be replaced with some bugged menu showing only a custom campaign you have installed (For instance if you have custom campaign “Exodus of the Horde (Original Voice Over)” it shows that with an “L:” before the name). To “temporary fix” this bug you need to click “Back” and then click “Custom campaign” and then go to “Campaign” again as that will make the official campaigns appear, however when you click “Back” and then click “Custom campaign” again and then go to “Campaign” again the menu bug appears again and you can’t see any of the official campaigns.
  51. Finger of Pain (Neutral Hostile) and Finger of Death (Item) abilities can no longer be cast on spell immune units (Changed ability type from universal to magical).
  52. Pandaren Brewmaster has a bug if you click Stop command immediately after using his ultimate ability “Storm, Earth and Fire” it will cancel and he will be reborn too fast.

I read through about half of it initially. You aren’t missing much. Most of these are bad ideas, such as removing abilities, which would break any custom game using those.

I think the idea is good, but the timing and voting system might need some tweaking. 45 seconds is reasonable, but maybe allow a bit of flexibility depending on the game type.

If your village is under attack (or burning), adrenaline kicks in, and the militia naturally becomes more alert. In that sense, reducing their sight during the day feels counter-intuitive. They wouldn’t be sleepy or “in a fog” while defending their home.

The Warden is already a fragile hero, so reducing acquisition range and tweaking projectiles feels like a big nerf. I agree that Fan of Knives working against mechanical units doesn’t make much sense - throwing knives at machines shouldn’t realistically deal damage unless it’s a huge number of knives. The heal ability and Spirit of Vengeance summon changes are fine, though.

Summoned units are already “created from nothing” or transformed matter, like a Water Elemental. Polymorphing them again isn’t really natural.
So what would a big Water Elemental turn into? A smaller Lava Spawn? Or a sheep? It’s a bit illogical in-universe.

Thanks for the feedback. I will shorten it by removing unnecessary words. Most of my previous suggestions have been done by Blizzard, which motivated me to make this new updated list. We will get more updates because Microsoft wants to preserve this game for generations to come as with Age of empires and Gears of war.

Everything summarized into 10? Bug fixes and reduction of file size. The game has become bloated with unnecessary settings and features which results in too much information. In order to appeal to more casual players you should force certain settings and delete everything which is not needed, for instance delete formation movement toggle hotkey and button next to minimap and force it to always be off. Most issues are related to the menu/lobby design and matchmaking, there is a third-party service which is better.

You made me realize it should be the other way around with Black arrow. ‘Searing arrows’ and ‘Frost arrows’ should be renamed to ‘Searing arrow’ and ‘Frost arrow’, since only 1 arrow is fired using these abilities. So ‘Black arrow’ is already correct. There are a lot of issues with tooltips, such as Sorceress Polymorph spell saying “Cannot be cast on Heroes” and decimal values are not displayed correctly for aura items.

It’s not logical to have duplicate abilities, duplicate sounds files, duplicate maps etc. Map makers can easily fix any issues, but older custom maps which have been abandoned will probably not be fixed.
If something is deleted then you would have to add something new at the same time, to prevent backlash from the community. I listed many suggestions which add something new to the game.
Some suggestions would result in less revenue for third-party websites which could be considered bad.

Blizzard is not nerfed, it is changed to be different. Shorter backswing makes archmage not stand around doing nothing after casting a spell, current 2.4 seconds feels like forever and pros manually cancel it. Increased mana cost of blizzard is recommended if you are going to make it deal no friendly fire. Pitlord rain of fire spell currently costs more mana than Archmage blizzard spell even though they are almost the same. Increased mana cost of blizzard will result in archmage attacking more often with his normal ranged attack which means items such as orb of slow will be better. Alchemist Healing spray ability, which is also a channelled AOE spell, previously healed enemy units (before 2018) which was also difficult to use.

I did suggest nerfs to bear and dryad as you can see, increased cooldown for Roar, Bear form and Abolish magic abilities even though it’s only 1 second. But it also makes it easier to tell when those abilities have been used, so I guess it’s not really a nerf. :smiley:
I don’t think anybody is lazy, but ‘Heroes of the storm’ has a bigger playerbase so that game receives more fixes.

Militia has the highest sight range during day of all level 1 units. Acolyte, wisp, scarab lvl 1, skeleton and many other units and even high level summons have lower sight range during day compared to militia. Militia has higher sight during day than Mountain Giant which shouldn’t be the case. Nobody ever talks about sight range of units because the values can only be seen in World Editor.

Acqusition range is “aggro range”. All melee heroes have acquisiton range 500 but for some odd reason warden and demon hunter have 650. Elves have better sight range than other races, but that shouldn’t make them have higher aggro range. By reducing acquisition range from 650 to 500 it will be easier to control her since she won’t run off on her own.
The missile is just a minor bug seen in object editor, the only logical explanation for this is that the warden was probably designed to be a ranged hero but was then changed to be a melee hero and they forgot to change missile to “none”. For instance the undead melee heroes don’t have this bug as their missile values are set to “none”.
I agree that the warden is fragile hence I suggested increased turn rate and lower cast point so she can move and escape faster similar to Blademaster. Bladestorm works against mechanical units so why shouldn’t fan of knives also, even carrion swarm damages mechanical units. Warden needs to be tankier late game (For instance Demon hunter has Metamorphosis), giving heal ability to Avatar of vengeance solves that and opens up for new tactics, which is compensated by reducing max amount of Spirit of vengeance summons.

The issue is that nobody casts Polymorph at all since it doesn’t work on all types of units and costs too much mana. It’s better to instead cast Slow ability 4 times which can target more types of units.
Polymorph was changed to work on heroes. Druid of the talon Cyclone ability is similar as both of these spells don’t work against mechanical units. Necromancer Cripple ability was changed to work on mechanical units but Banshee Possession doesn’t. It’s not difficult to make these spells useful even if it’s a bit unrealistic. I wouldn’t mind if Banshee could possess a Siege engine or if Sorceress could sheep an Obsidian statue.
The other way to solve Polymorph, Cyclone and Cripple not being used is to make these spells pierce spell immunity, so they can be used on for instance dryads.

Yes it is. First, there are creep abilities with different needs than the standard faction abilities. These abilities cannot require an upgrade because players and the neutral-hostile player cannot research their upgrades. Creep abilities also sometimes need different stats based on the cost & strength of the neutral unit using them.

Furthermore, WarCraft III does not give players full control over how abilities operate. At most, there are usually cooldowns, costs, and a few other data fields. This means that whenever Blizzard radically changes an existing ability, the old functionality is lost and cannot be recovered. Blizzard bypassed this in the past by making “new” copies of the ability with the new behavior. Removing the old ability means permanently losing the old behavior.

WarCraft III is also over 20 years old with thousands of maps at this point. It is completely unreasonable to expect players to go through all of those maps and update them to work just because you wanted to remove some important assets.

Although I’ll be the first one to criticize feature creep in any software, you’ll face a riot in trying to get them to condense this down as most people can’t accept this idea of too many options being a bad thing.

But Warcraft III comes from a different era, and RTS games are generally seen as a pretty advanced genre, not meant to appeal to casual players in the first place. I don’t think you can even do that without drastically simplifying the game and I think that’s best suited to a new RTS game of some sort aimed more at casual players- See upcoming game RTS Hero for one potential example.

But file size is not a problem here. We live in era which until recently had trivially low storage costs. War3 is still a pretty small game in terms of data size by today’s standards. a subset of the community has periodically come forth demanding to seperate the HD textures and models from the main download, even though the ~30GB the game takes up today is a fraction of the size of many modern games which take 2-4 times the amount of space this game does. I don’t think that’s a reasonable criticsm of the game.

Outside of its matchmaking system I disagree with any notion that W3C has better menu/lobby design. I find it absolutely terrible, setting up custom games is very limited and you can’t just play any map, but only certain ones. W3C does have a drastically better matchmaking algo but it is still geared towards the elite and not regular players. Heck, “champions” is in the name, directly implying it is for champions. Not regular joes. This is aside the fact that most regular players aren’t willing to install these kinds of mods just to play a game that should just work out of the box.

Well it originally couldn’t, they just didn’t update the tooltip, but I’d argue that this change was dumb and it shouldn’t.

Also, this. We already have issues with map makers being forced to change/update their maps due to bugs and issues that were introduced by attempts to optimize things like lua scripting and other custom functionality. This would basically turn that issue up to 11 andc completely alienate the custom game commuinity. While on some level it would be good to hit the reset button and completely revamp how custom content works in the game, it is way, way, way, way past too late for something like that. It would just instantly breed even more resentment for Blizzard than they already have.

Yes, but the Warden still has missile settings in the editor. Sure she was designed as a ranged hero. You also cannot really compare her with other melee heroes because she is much more fragile. That is exactly my point.

I always suggested that Blink should be free (with a cooldown instead of the 10 mana cost), so she could have the chance to escape fights.

It’s possible that the higher aggro range was added to help the Warden, maybe because she was originally intended to behave more like a ranged unit. However, in practice it just makes the unit harder to control. So adjusting it to 500, like you suggested, might help.

Because we must need to respect some “physics and common sense rules”.
For example:

  • Armored units take less piercing damage!
  • Mechanical units cannot be polymorphed or healed by normal spells!
  • Summoned units cannot be polymorphed!
  • Melee units cannot attack flying units!

In my opinion the Warden should not become tankier. Instead, she should become faster and more agile in the late game, dealing higher damage to compensate for stronger “tank” heroes. Think of it like a ninja fighting a sumo wrestler - speed and precision instead of raw durability.

The only reason people don’t use Polymorph is the high mana cost.
But I think that’s fine - powerful spells should cost a lot of mana.

I have seen pro players use it, just like they use Cyclone. The idea is not to cast it on the entire enemy army. Instead, you use it on key units or on part of the enemy army, while you fight the rest. This way you temporarily remove some important units from the battle and gain an advantage.

Exactly, this is what I meant about respecting some basic “physics” or common-sense rules (not just in War3) but in every game!

For example, Cripple working on mechanical units can still make sense - you can imagine it like acid or corrosion damaging their parts. But Possession is different: mechanical units have no soul, so there is nothing to possess.

The same idea applies to Polymorph. Turning a living unit into a sheep makes sense in a fantasy way, but turning a stone statue into a sheep would be really strange. If anything, it would make more sense to turn into dust instead.

I don’t use it because it’s inconvenient and difficult to use. It’s complicated enough just having your heroes with active abilities, having to tab through your units to manually use a non-autocast ability on various targets can be difficult when you’re not a pro gamer. Of course there is also the mana cost leaving your sorceresses unable to slow the entire enemy army, though i think that’s secondary to ease of use.

Cleanse all LODs from HD assets; they’re literally confirmed to be bloatware and junk

I have now shortened the amount of text by removing unnecessary words.

I also added more suggestions and edited some values for higher quality. For instance sundering blades should not require lumber mill, because knight doesn’t require lumber mill. In changelog for patch 1.36.2 it says sundering blades no longer requires lumber mill which is false.

The reason you want to remove spell immunity from infernal and avatar of vengeance is because they will then soak up damage and negative spells otherwise cast on the heroes, therefore making dreadlord and warden less fragile. It also means infernal can get buffed with unholy frenzy and frost armor (that would be pretty cool!), while avatar of vengeance can get buffed with roar.

I also added Dryad movement speed reduction from 350 to 340 so demolisher and cannon tower can easier snipe them. Having such high movement speed and having ultravision before Tier 3 makes it too easy to scout and makes abilities such as Scout (Owl) and Sentinel almost useless. Instead of increasing move speed of footman defend ability reduce movement speed of dryad, so footmen are not totally helpless. Huntress received similar movement speed treatment. Knights, gargoyles and dragonhawk riders will then have higher movement speed than dryad, but dryad will still dominate with Slow Poison.

I also added many more suggestions for orc, such as nerfing range of Hex from 800 to 700. The logic behind this is: dreadlord sleep has 800 range (cannot attack the unit and is a melee hero) and keeper of the grove entangling roots has 600 range (can attack the unit and does dmg), therefore Hex should be 700 range (can attack the unit).

Shadow hunter Healing wave is too easy to use. Paladin Holy light is sluggish to heal different units and sometimes overheals a lot. Alchemist Healing spray has too low AOE which makes it hard to heal units which are moving. Been thinking about Holy light cooldown should be reverted from 5.5 to 5 seconds and increase Healing spray AOE from 250 to 275, I did not add those 2 suggestions to the list but have been thinking a lot about them. EDIT: The 2 suggestions are now in the list! :wink:

I believe that Reforged needs more quality of life changes and bug fixes instead of just PvP balance patches. By that I mean a complete restructure of the game engine because it still runs on the old one. The pathfinding is what annoys me the most and the overall new interface which uses the Chromium web browser engine. I highly doubt there will be a 3.0 major patch. 2.0 was made solely to clear their long standing bad reputation and nothing else.

There are tons of bugs and quality of life changes in my list, but yes I understand what you mean. :slight_smile: However custom maps can use the latest patch hence it is vital that we continue to receive balance patches, it’s not just about PvP. Do not completely remake the game engine because then it will no longer be Warcraft 3.

As for the pathfinding it’s more about making the units feel less sluggish and better respond to commands, I listed many suggestions, here’s a short summary if you didn’t read my entire list:

  • The biggest problem is the setting known as “Formation movement” which is completely ruining the movement of units for players. Units should still place themselves with melee units in front and ranged in the back, but player units shouldn’t stop or be slowed (AI computer’s units can keep the setting on if it’s needed for AI):

-“Enable Formation movement toggle” in gameplay options should be forced off and removed from options.
-The “Formation movement” button next to the minimap when you play a map should be forced off and deleted from the game for players, to prevent player units from stopping and being slowed in unit groups.

  • Increase movement turn rate of 3 melee units:

-Beastmaster turn rate increased from 0.4 to 0.5.
-Goblin sapper turn rate increased from 0.5 to 0.6.
-Warden turn rate increased from 0.4 to 0.5.

  • There is a setting that makes units not respond instantly, which could be lowered slightly but don’t lower it to zero:

-Lower the gameplay constant “Reaction Delay (sec) - Maximum” from 0.25 to 0.20 to remove some of the artificial delay that players complain about.

  • "Art – Animation – Cast Backswing” and “Art - Animation - Cast point” should be reduced for the units and heroes I listed such as Blood mage and Mountain Giant:

-Blood mage “Art – Animation – Cast Backswing” reduced from 1 to 0.5.
-Blood mage “Art - Animation - Cast point” reduced from 0.5 to 0.3.
-Mountain giant “Art – Animation – Cast Backswing” reduced from 3 to 0.5.

As for the interface, we first received something different when Reforged was released. I made a list some years ago pointing it all the issues with the old one. Most of the suggestions I posted were done including the “recent” change with adding back the classic 3D menu backgrounds. Some players want the old classic ROC/TFT menu back, but I think it’s better to keep the current one and focus on fixing bugs and removing unnecessary buttons.

Sorry, but this is just one bad idea. Formation movement has a purpose, it is to control how your units are oriented before a fight begins. There is no good reason to remove that.

If you don’t like or need formation movement, you can always turn it off, and the game keeps track of your choice. You can also just put units that you don’t want in the formation into a separate control group. Using multiple control-groups is a common practice in almost all RTS games already.

I do like the idea and respect the engineering behind the formation movement, but it’s just unnecessary. By forcing it to be off for players the game will be more appealing to casual players to faster jump into the game who don’t really understand what the setting does and reduces the overload of information. For me it took many years until I understood what it does and the impact, and then I quickly turned it off. By removing it you are making it easier on the mind for casual players and harder for somebody else, I don’t have the statistics how many pro players disable it or how they use it but it’s just an unnecessary depth to the game. There’s no easy way to force it off and hide it from the HUD for custom maps either, maybe someone figuered it out but I have not found an action to do it with the default GUI in World Editor :slight_smile:, some custom maps would benefit with it being forced to off.
It will be interesting to see if “Dawn of War IV” will have a feature that makes units stop and be slowed to wait for other units in control group, so maybe wait until that game is released to see what they did to have something new to compare with.

Now if I am actually going to point out something that I do not like then it’s the idea of being able to select more than 12 units at the same time, just don’t change it, keep it at 12 units max. If you increase it to be above 12 and add a button that selects all your units on the map then it will no longer be Warcraft 3. It is useful for some custom maps, but custom maps already solved “not being able to give a command to all units at the same time” by adding an ability to for instance a building that orders all units of a specific unit type to for instance move to a targeted location.

Your preferences are not an excuse to remove a feature that others might use. You aren’t helping anyone by removing it.
