I wasn’t too sure where to post this topic so I decided to post it in Technical Support.
It’s come to my attention that a large problem that I have found with Reforged, which has nothing to do with cut scenes, bugs, classic problems or anything of this nature. My biggest problem so far with the game to date is poor optimization. I have seen it bandied around a lot that the problem is only due to people’s own systems as opposed to being the game’s fault.
Here are my system specifications:
Operating system: Windows 10 (64 bit)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti
CPU: Intel Core i7-8700 (6 cores)
Ram: 16 GB
Hard Drive: 500GB SSD Hard Drive
I’d also like to add that all my drivers are up to date. Additionally, any programs that could be taxing the system I have made sure to deactivate before launching the game.
With everything that I have stated, my computer meets the recommended system requirements and more, however during play time of Warcraft 3 Reforged my enjoyment has been stunted due to regular FPS drops. I have tried to take into account that some of the custom games that were brought over from the classic game would be particularly taxing on the system, bearing in mind that these game modes were made many years ago, which would have been far less demanding than it would be now. Bearing this in mind, however, with the system specifications that I have, there should be no FPS drops whatsoever during the campaign of the game. This proved to be untrue throughout my experience playing the campaign. In many missions using the "/fps’ ’ command, I would see that my FPS would drop from 60 FPS down to 40 FPS. This should not occur given everything that I have stated prior in terms of preventing FPS drops as well as my system specifications, yet it still does.
The fact that this is happening during the campaign of the game leads me to believe that this is a definitive optimisation issue, unlike my original thought of it solely being an issue with the custom games being taxing on my computer.
I have played Warcraft 3 classic for many years from being a young lad who thoroughly enjoyed the game back in the day, which made me overjoyed to hear that it would be remade. Which is why I actually have been trying to convince many people to get this game so they could re experience a fantastic experience that I had from my childhood. I actually managed to convince the person who I am with to get this game, which overjoyed me, only to then find out that on the highest graphics she would only get an average of 40 FPS, going even lower than that during the campaign. I went through with her regarding everything that I stated with drivers and other applications, to double check and make sure the issue wasn’t just on her end.
Here are her system specifications:
Operating System: Windows 10 (64 bit)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 2080 Super
CPU: intel I7-4820k (4 Core)
Ram: 16GB
Hardrive: 250GB SSD Hardrive
Once again the system requirements meet the recommended settings for the game. However on the high settings, the game can barely go over 45 FPS. This is disappointing to say the least since I managed to convince said person to get the game, but now she’s put off playing the game due to the low FPS she’s experiencing. Some may say “Turn the graphics down”, however I feel that would not be a valid response due to any criteria being met in terms of the game running properly such as system specifications, driver issues and possible programs that may affect performance. If this was just an issue with custom games, I could possibly look past it, but to be in the campaign fills me with a sceptical outlook that makes me think the game is not optimised properly. Again I have recommended the game to many other people, but alas they have not wanted to get the game as of yet due to the idea that poor optimisation would hinder their gameplay experience.
All in all, deducing that there does seem to be a problem here, I would personally want to know what the future is for optimising the game. I would like to know if any optimisation will come at all, and if so when would be a time frame to look forward to. Forgetting what all the nay-sayers would say about the game, I have still recommended it to people. However with optimisation issues, it makes it exceedingly hard to convince them to buy the game.
If someone could get back to me on this, then I would be extremely grateful on the matter.
Thank you.
