Offline map testing

Currently using the ‘Map Test’ feature from editor checks your connection which takes about 10 seconds extra. Really annoying and user unfriendly if your load time is increased by 3x and 4x fold if you just want to repeat test little things in your custom map.

It makes no sense that this requires connecting, because it is a solo map test. It should be offline just like starting a map from the ‘Single Player’ tab.

It is offline actually. You don’t need internet connection to simply Test Map from World Editor. Turn off your internet connection and make sure the desktop shortcut targets
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Warcraft III_retail_\x86_64\World Editor.exe” -launch
since you don’t need to run Battle.net launcher first to run the game/editor

Unfortunately no. Whether I’m offline or not it will start the Bnet Launcher from which I have to press Launch Editor.

Then I press Test Map, the crappy lion’s gate will still come up and attempt to connect for the exact same duration. After which it reports an error, and only then are you presented with an option ‘Offline’.

That’s worse than simply waiting for it to finish connecting! It should be able to launch the Editor bypassing the Blizzard Launcher, and using Test Map should be always offline without making an attempt to connect to the server.

This implementation greatly increasing the time cost to perform quick map tests.

I am sitting with the same issue and there is no help to find… It’s extremely problematic. What to do?

Good job bumping a 3 year old thread… And there is help to find in the very thread you bumped if only you read the posts…

As long as you’ve connected online with the game recently, you can test maps offline by launching the game and playing them in single player or LAN mode, rather than using the editor command. Its slightly less convenient, but you have to launch the game anyway, so it really isn’t much of a problem…

And as the person a couple posts above said, if you make a windows shortcut to the editor, you don’t need to open the battle.net app to get to the editor or the game. An online check will only be performed if it’s been a long time since you last had an internet connection with the game.
