Hi!
I just saw the game appear today in my Battlenet (jesus, with the dot character, the word was recognized as a link…) client and I almost blindly clicked the purchase button.
However, there is one important factor that could still hold me back: the absence of offline multiplayer.
Does anyone know if the game includes it?
Unfortunately, there is nothing written about this on the official website unless I’ve missed it somehow.
The requirements page does state a stable internet connection as a requirement, so it might mean there is no option to play over LAN.

I’m fairly confident there won’t be offline LAN considering that would mean only 1/50 players would buy it in China and the Chinese market is a huge driving factor in why they are even doing this. Is LAN so important to you that you’d see the whole project commercially fail because of it?

A commercial fail? By no means, since Starcraft 2 is also doing pretty good.
I don’t see myself buying the game under those circumstances though.
Why would the market be smaller for a game that includes more possibilities to play multiplayer?

This is the main issue that turns me off of SC2. No LAN play. The game has got to be “always online.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but even Starcraft 1 Remaster makes you log on to Battlenet even just to play a single player mission. I strongly suspect they will make you log on to Battlenet to play single player Warcraft III Reforged. That’s some straight garbage there. It was the offline LAN gaming that made the original Starcraft and Warcraft games great.
Another thing. Starcraft 1 Remaster makes you download all the assets for the Remaster just to play even the original version without the HD graphics. That’s like five times the size of the original game! I won’t be surprised if they do the same thing for War3 Reforged as well.
They want you to buy Reforged, so they will make you download many gigabytes of HD data just to play the original game, making it just a gateway to buying their graphical upgrade.

Actually, although you need to be logged in to play Starcraft remastered, you can do so while being offline.
This is similar to Steam’s “Offline Mode”, which allows tons of games to be played over LAN.
Yes, having the whole game download for people who just want to have the old graphics is unfortunate, especially since user patches can solve resolution issues for most games I know nowadays.
To be fair, I’d rather play Warcraft III with the more modern graphics, since I never liked the graphics of the old game, not even when it came out. The new ones aren’t that good either, but they are pretty well done for what the game is.

SCR kept its LAN play, so I expect same for War3R.

In system requirements it is stated that “LAN play requires a TCP/IP connection.” so I’m confident there won’t be bad surprises

It would be sereosly stupid of Blizzard to not add a LAN multiplayer mode.
I cant remember how often I met with friend to play this together.
There are often also huuge party events with hundrets of people and all playing together these old games like CS1.6, BF2 or WC3. To not allow the community which loves this game to undeath to keep doing that would be a discrace to the original.
