why are there no leaver penalties lol, just about any team game is destined to be lost from an early leaver.

Name-and-shaming can get you in trouble here just a heads up.
But MMR changes are at least partially based on match duration, if a match ends extremely quickly, I usually see only small changes (i.e. when ppl drop at the start due to never connecting to the game)
With games like this there’s a difficult line to walk. I agree that people shouldn’t leave prematurely in team games, but there needs to at last be a surrender vote or something so people can leave when they feel like they can’t win.

AFK and early leavers are very easy to detect with a timer though.
They’re actually not. How early is too early? Some games are decided in the first 10 seconds.
Now I wouldn’t be opposed to having a surrender vote, but given the team sizes and the toxicity of the war3 melee community I don’t think it would be very useful. Anything less than 4v4 you’d need a unanimous vote and someone’s always going to block it.

Adding a surrender vote option IS the best solution.
Because first and foremost it’s not based around teamplay. Plus it’s a competitive game when you’re talking about melee 1v1,2v2,3v3,4v4,FFA, so in other words it’s 100% your fault if your teammate leaves. Why? Because you chose to team up with that person even if it’s random queues, you chose to queue up randomly which means you’re okay with someone randomly leaving for any random reason.
There’s no reason to give penalties because 4v4 is not really serious like a 1v1 and in 1v1 there’s no reason to give penalties because a loss is enough.
Also one last thing, the warcraft3 community is not toxic like you claim, only certain players are like that and it’s 100% your fault that you’re playing with people like that instead of making online wc3 friends instead so that you have a collection of non-toxic players to play with (who also won’t leave the game in 10 seconds).
Again 100% your fault in both regards.
