New User interface vs classic UI

Please blizzard, I’m literally begging you:

If you want the new reforged remake of this to be successful and have gamers stick around, please do an overhaul of your UI.

One of the absolute best things about Warcraft 3 was it’s approach to the community and chat UI. This is something you fell well short on in Starcraft 2 and it’s incredibly disappointing to see how much you’ve missed the mark on something so integral to Warcraft 3 when you’ve updated the UI to battle.net 2.0.

With Warcraft 3, there was an incredible sense of community. People hung out and chatted in chat channels, especially guild channels. People could admire the icons people had earned through their hard work and dedication with sticking to a race and earning X number of wins to finally earn that Metamorphosis demon hunter icon (1500 NE wins).

On top of this, there was an emphasis on who was the guild leader, who was the shaman and who you should approach to gain membership the the guild you were interested in. Player profiles, where you could see their win/loss record, some sort of bio that they wrote, and the guild they belonged to added a sense of immersion and culture.

I have spoken to many about this concept, and they all have agreed with this, including Grubby himself. Right now, the UI takes a gigantic backseat to the experience, with the chat window mostly minimized to the bottom right corner of the screen. What have we gained in this transition to the newer UI? Nothing. We have some photo of some faction unit as a background which is completely non essential, while at the cost of being able to clearly see chat, whispers, information about friends lists/teammates that have joined games etc.

Please revert back to how it was, it will go a long way towards saving what fans loved about the Warcraft 3 experience!

we all want the chat rooms back but its not happening man. the best we could hope for are dedicated discord servers created for certain niches.

I think the bigger issue would be connectivity issues that are plagueing the game. That’s just a cosmetic fix. But many people cant even join customs or regular games without getting dropped 1000x’s before they are able to enjoy 1 game…

Blizzard said they will add clan support in a patch coming soon

Aside from the lack of clan support, the main menu UI isnt a big deal IMO… I actually like a lot of the new features like separate windows for private msgs, and the ability to be in multiple chat channels at once… obviously the UI is a little buggy and could use improvements though

Im more concerned about the in-game UI/HuD and increasing unit selection for custom games

And its not just me having these issues. Tournament play is hard to watch anymore. Either the players get dropped, the casters get dropped, ect. There is also graphic issues that are annoying to watch again in tournament play. Also fixing the buggy movements with the new graphics might also be a priority. Theres a lot more that needs to get fixed more than the ui…

where is an example of this? casters getting dropped?

Its in almost every game, they get delayed for quite a while most of the time before they get everyone in there to start the game. And in a few of the games a caster has lagged out during the game. You can here the BacktoWarcraft casters talk about it at the start: “I’m in, wait no hold on…I’m in”.

Blizzard has wanted to make War3 ESPORTS into a thing and make money on it. This is not the way to make money on it. I would laugh my butt off so hard if blizzard pushed a live tournament on a stage with how the game is now. It would take quite a while to complete with these issues of drops. It takes quite awhile for even online tournaments as is.

Let alone that many of the pro players are not really happy about the game in general with RF. Happy pointed out issues as well as a few other players. Happy was the more public of them though.

classic battlenet was better in every way
