Naga + Neutral Race Techtree

In the campaign you often face against races that are not part of the four playable races, biggest one being the Naga. If you play the FTF Custom Campaign Chapter 3; Countdown to Extinction there’s even full on Murloc bases.

When reforging Warcraft 3, I think it’s safe to say that everyone would be happy if Naga, Murlocs, Trolls, Satyrs, Demons, Corrupted, Fel blood orcs and other creeps got more buildings, more techtree and more different types of units. This is really good for the Custom Map Editors to have at their disposal when making new maps.

  1. Naga 100% fully developed techtree. Include naga item shop, naga lumber mill, naga black smith, naga Couatl building. Don’t let Temple of Tides be the building that does almost everything. Give it techtree upgrades, let Mur’gul Reavers be trained in a separate building.
  2. Corrupted + Satyrs 100% developed techtree. Make a corrupted version of every night elf building plus perhaps some additional ones.
  3. Create a demon race techtree. When demons are involved, it’s often combined with the orc or the undead race. Make it so that the demons have more of their own buildings, techtree and item shops.
  4. Fel Orcs have different buildings from green orcs. The fel orcs are only different in the appearance of the models, let the buildings also become different in appearance from Fel blood magic.
  5. Murloc buildings techtree. Blizzard, you’re Blizzard, and Blizzard can’t pass the chance to have more murlocs. Please create an entire murloc techtree, have it included in a few places in the campaign.
  6. Goblins units & buildings. I want to have more different types of goblin units and goblin buildings inside Warcraft 3. There are opportunities to include this in the campaign but would be amazing for the Custom Map Editors to have.
  7. Troll buildings and units. There are times you face troll encampments, would be great if those encampments included more than just troll huts and spirit lodges.
  8. Add Gnomes. Gnomes did not exist anywhere at any time in Warcraft 3, but there are opportunities to include a few gnomes, at the very least, add a few Gnome models and buildings in the world editor.
  9. Add a full Draenei techtree with all the buildings included. We want a completed Broken Ones/Draenei race available in the campaign and in the World Editor.

That’s all for now, basically, we want more developed Naga + neutral techtrees. More units and more buildings that improves the campaign experience and makes the Custom Map Community have more resources at their disposal when making new maps.

I think it will be very important to have more finished models of units, buildings and doodads in the World Editor since making Custom Models in Reforged will be a lot harder than in Warcraft 3. Warcraft 3 models were simple to make because the graphics were low, you could easily give a Miliia peasant a bow & arrow instead for example. Now with the HD graphics it’s going to be so much harder to make custom models because of the level of detal.

I agree on must of your raised points, all but the Gnomes (I detest Gnomes ;-)). But yes techtree for the neutral races, and the Naga in specific, could be included.

As someone who almost exclusively played a Gnome in WoW, I hate this idea. Gnomes shouldn’t be retroactively added to the game.

I would however love for Naga, Murlocs, Kobolds, etc, to be playable classes in a future WCIV and WoW 2

I forgot to also mention that they should complete the techtree for the Draenei/Broken Ones you encounter in Outland. They play as an ally alongside you in some missions. I added it to the original list on the thread.

I agree with Naga.
Of all the races ingame, the Naga were the closest to completion.
Most buildings are done, at least half the units are done, when I consider unique models that is, and they have at least a hero with an unique model as well, which is Lady Vashj, which, sadly, would require you to remove the Naga Seawitch from the Tavern.

The other races on the other hand, either have like a single model done (Satyr and Draenei had a single model resized and recolored for multiple unit types) and one or two new buildings (draenei), or used buildings that already exist in other races (Satyr use Night Elf, Blood Elves used Human, etc), so I think that for those it is too much work.

I think at least one new race added to this reforged version would help a lot the sales. Cause you immediately have legit new content, and of all of them the Naga seems reasonable to pick.

I fully agree Forsaken, Broken Draenei, Blood Elves and Naga should all have fully fleshed out tech trees and be fully playable in custom matches.

Naga being fully playable would definitely attract new interest and I feel like should be an option to an extent if possible.

Something I’ve also always thought would be nice to add is subfactions for the current ones. In TFT the humans story barely even uses the standard tech tree, and instead a complete elf one which would be fun to use. Chaos/Fel orc and Satyr/Corrupted Night elf would be other good examples of this.

Making Naga a 5th playable race in melee games and matchmaking is an entirely different subject.

I just want there to be more development into the techtree to enhance the Campaign experience and to have more World Editor resources for mapmakers to have. You could play custom map matchmaking with Naga, Draenei, Fel Orcs and such races available in Reforged.

In WC3 Reforged making custom models will be a lot more difficult to make a custom model that fits into Warcraft 3 environment because if the improved HD graphics. Making a custom model in the new HD with 50 times more polygons, detailed skins and advanced animations. So it’s going to be very important to have more custom models ready from the start for all the editors.

As a small off-topic: in the QA panel they said that they will be possibly putting out the software they use to make the models with some tutorials and everything. Though, sure, it’s still a lot bigger effort to make custom models.
