My losses count but wins fail to retrieve data

at first i thought it was just bad luck. But now today 4 wins did not count but 2 losses did… what is happening. Is this just me or anyone else having issues ?

update: Mods can delete this. I made another thread in bug forum. But its now up to 7 wins that havent counted. 2 losses counted as normal. Ive opened up support tickets. They said to relog ( lol) then that they cleared my account cache, whatever that is. Said if it still continues then I need to open up a thread in bug forum, which I did. So this one can be deleted.

That’s because whenever you leave a game other than by the victory button, a loss is recorded immediately, as it doesn’t need the results from the match to do that.

The good news is, though not always, often these games will appear on your record later. Unfortunately, yes, this is an intermittent issue that affects everyone, not just you. Simply the server just isn’t very reliable, particularly in games with more players. It’s a little better than it used to be years ago but it still has problems. Only thing you can really do is wait a little bit at the end of the game to ensure other players have left and then when you click to end the game there seems to be a better chance of getting the data.

So unfortunately you simply can’t count on the statistics. But at least you can play and enjoy the game. Just don’t stress over the stats. This has been a very long standing issue and who knows if it will ever be truly fixed.

I click the “victory button” quite often and it counts about 10% of my wins which is frustrating when I’m 8 wins away from a 1000 win milestone. It happens more often when I’m playing people from Europe/Asia.

You’re a software engineer as well, right? If your customer’s product is broken to where they could make a sale and none of it actually counted, but all of their refunds to customers did. Do you think that’s acceptable? Would you wait a week to fix it?

I don’t care about it because it doesn’t matter. What matters is enjoying the game, which I do, regardless of what happens.

I never said anything was acceptable or not acceptable. People regularly misunderstand my responses as being some kind of defense or endorsement of Blizzard or their actions. I’m not defending or endorsing anything. It is an explanatory comment only. I believe understanding the hows and whys of things is important, whether it’s a good thing or not. And personally, I always try to make the best of any situation, no matter how crappy it may be, an d believe that spouting rage is generally not productive (especially when it comes to this game, since the community has been doing it for years and years with little to show for it.

all games i leave with victory button. and its doing it again today. all wins are failed to retrieve data. im going back to w3c until an update fixes this

In the past, “failed to retrieve” would record within hours and up to a few days later. Recently, “failed to retrieve” is lost in purgatory. They aren’t recording over several months. Maybe they’ll record in the future, but feels unlikely. Lately, about 30% of games aren’t recording. Mostly wins and a handful of losses. Very minimal losses fail to retrieve, but this may due to win / loss percentage. Tracking down a failed to retrieve game through other profiles, often times you’ll see 0s across the scoreboard for the player(s) who failed to retrieve. The game doesn’t appear on any of those profiles. There are also instances where no players have the game recorded on their profile.

And they do. I see it regularly. If it doesn’t happen for you, I"m sorry, but that doesn’t make my information false. I have heard that this is a bigger issue for players connecting through the EU gateway, and that might well describe you and some of the people discussing this. Again- Doesn’t make my statement false. Now, if you said something like “Perhaps you could check again? I haven’t had any luck with this” instead of simply branding me as making false statements (which again, is not “as usual,” as, while I do sometimes make mistakes, it is not “the usual.”), I wouldn’t be reacting this way to you. But of course, you chose to be aggressive and inflammatory.

This continues to be my experience to this day, playing on NA. It could easily be a different story on the EU gateway, which has always had more problems.

As far as it “getting worse,” I haven’t observed this either. It’s been more or less the same song and dance for years now.

Try none of the above. I’m not avoiding anything, you raised the issue. There is no strawman, and my attention isn’t “selective,” I’m specifically addressing issues you brought forth. You can’t just throw out logic terms to tear someone down. Back up what you claim.

Because you are responsible for your own connection and being smart and not playing when you might be having connection issues. Sure, one time I can accept, but some people in fact keep trying and hoping the first time was a one-off when it wasn’t.

They could just go AFK instead of leaving, and then they would get the credit.

I’m not saying it’s a great system, but the problem here is you can’t distinguish between someone ragequitting and someone who “just has to go.” There’s no way to protect one while punishing the other.

It’s not officially supported by the game, if you want to give yourself a self imposed challenge, you should be using custom games to do that.

Again, that’s not the fault of anyone else in the game, and if you’re playing while having technical issues you’re only hurting the people around you.

  2. The game has never had a reconnect function. You can’t strip something that never existed. The “WAITING FOR PLAYERS” dialog is NOT a reconnect function. It only ever guarded against minor instabilities, and it was a major inconvenience to the other players in the game. If you are actually disconnected, it would not enable you to reconnect, and if you had more than a little network hiccup, you’d just get dropped by the other players for a free win anyway. So this thing was barely better than nothing at best. And the entire game stopping while waiting for one person to
    In reality, nobody notices this because that box is gone, but if you have minor connection problems, you’ll see the game stop for you, and then catch up really fast when it recieves data again. The game doesn’t stop for the other players, which is good because other people shouldn’t have to twiddle their thumbs while you drop packets. A connection problem is your problem, not everyone else’s problem.

A reconnect feature would be if your game crashes or you totally lose your connection, and a button appears in the menu to let you rejoin the game. Which would be great, and was considered at some point during reforged but they couldn’t do it with the resources Activison (didn’t) gave them. I’d love for them to add a REAL ability to reconnect to a game after crashing or getting disconnected from the internet. But “Waiting for Players” did neither of those things.

(and for the record, the reason that is gone is because Reforged uses proxy servers to get around the peer-to-peer networking the game engine uses- This is why that box existed to begin with- with peer to peer networking, you HAVE to wait for all data to be sent and recieved from all other clients for the system to work- but proxies eliminate that problem)
