I am just another player but I can’t be the only one who isn’t impressed. I just purchased and it was a hefty price in local currency, lets say 1 day salary of average people. I have an action plan you mods might follow:
start a feedback campaign for 30 days. it’s a simple google form and link sharing. Listen and analyze your user base. then start doing some improvements both on the game and to grow the user base. perhaps developer campaigns, suggested custom game developer starter kit, helping them start their own communities.
Then filter out the things that can be done. Why not?
There are UI problems, I can’t even see gold, generally, the chat and custom game functions are not enriched with new features in comparison to WC3 Frozen Throne.
The game is in maintenance mode, using borrowed resources from other teams. Only the most critical bugs are going to be addressed, which are those that prevent gameplay (black screen, crash, etc).
We are three years out from launch. It is not reasonable to expect major overhauls of systems. That does not mean it’s impossible, but you need to be realistic with expectations.
No one is particularly impressed, no. I am thankful I can still play, but this really should have been so much more than it actually ended up being. I really have to wonder if there can even be a warcraft 4 after this. Honestly, WoW is probably the real reason we’ll never get a new Warcraft RTS game. Today, anyone and everyone thinks of the MMO whenever they hear “warcraft.” So I half expect that the Blizzard community would be shocked and stunned if they announced Warcraft 4 and it wasn’t a new MMO.
That’s the last thing it needs. What it needs is angels to come down from heaven and fix the game, since we all know Activsiion isn’t going to provide the necessary resources to fix the problems that remain.
But seriously, making it free will do little to help the playerbase and less to help the game (as in… nothing)
That has mostly happened at this point. We have ranked, we have custom campaign, we have clans, that were all missing at launch. I suppose the campaign was supposed to be nicer and the cinematics better but I don’t really see any off that changing sadly.
I have heard there were supposed to be some sort of extended story for some characters. Like Jaina Proudmoore and Sylvanas Windrunner. And if they wanted to retcon some things in the games, I haven’t seen some “demi-heros” in most maps I had played recently. Except noticed some when I had cheat my way when I couldn’t complete them normally.
I don’t ever remember hearing anything about new story elements. Only that the cinematics were being completely redone and we had a trailer for this I think. But none of it actually made it into the game.
I thought that this was mentioned at Blizzcon, maybe in the 2018 panel, as an idea but not a promise.
Didn’t several cutscene get updated, but just not to the extent many people wanted? Is it a bit misleading to say “none” of it made it into the game? Seems to me more like “less than what was expected” made it into the game. But maybe this is subjective.
Yeah. That wasn’t a matter of Bliz saying they were going to do it but didn’t at release. Bliz overtly stated at Blizzcon 19 that they changed their minds about the retcons. And since the new cinematics contained the majority of the retcons, they were scrapped. So it’s highly unlikely new cinematics will ever happen.
Instead, they just uprez’d the existing cutscenes and called them the ‘hours of new cutscenes’.
