I’m wondering if Blizzard is intending to add missing animations for crucial upgrades– for example, when upgrading a Ziggurat to a Nerubian Tower, instead of showing the ‘frost ball’ morphing (as is the case in classic graphics), the full ziggurat is replaced with the general summoning-in animation. Same thing happens for Spirit Towers.
This isn’t ideal for competitive games as at a glance it’s unclear if, for example, your opponent is just establishing his expansion, or is seconds away from having towers ready and firing. Or perhaps you think you can cancel a building zig (no armor!), but it’s actually a morphing nerubian tower. This is relevant to achieving a goal of clear visuals for competitive play, and clearly goes against the ideology of accurate visual representation of the game. It’s also confusing for beginners.
Likewise, upgrading a Tree of Life to a Tree of Ages (and ToA -> Tree of Eternity) shows the general Night Elf building animation, instead of an ‘upgrading’ animation, as was the case with classic graphics.
