Now with the color “White” being introduced into the game, it got significantly harder to read the minimap, if one of your opponents uses that color. Why is that so? Well simply because your stuff will always be shown as White on the minimap, regardless of your color. Now you could say, that people just should use team colors, this would in fact help to actually see stuff owned by the “White” player, but now you cannot distinguish other players, since every enemy will be marked red. I know it’s a small thing, but for some maps like risk, colors like white are extremely problematic.
You know what’s funny? You got the same problem in sc2. In sc2 your color will always be green on the minimap, unless you choose team colors. But Blizzard didn’t give us the option in any of these games, to show the actual color of yours on the minimap. And this would be my suggestion. If I play as orange, I wanna be displayed in a orange color on the minimap. Atleast I wanna have that option. It’s not much, but it is one small step in improving the overall gameplay experience, especially for certain custom maps. Please add that!

Is this on the PTR or something? There is no “White” player colour in 1.30.2…
If you are referring to the player colour “Snow” then that is not white. It has the following RGB values.
This is not white as white is defined as all RGB values of 255.
Now there is a slight problem with some displays discerning “snow” from “white” because of inaccurate colour reproduction or sub optimal viewing condition. In such case one can turn down the display brightness and it should become more visible. This is especially a problem with cheaper or lower quality displays which have poor viewing properties such as angle or bleed.
Okay you are right. The color I mean is “Snow”. But don’t forget, we are talking about the minimap. The minimap is usually 256x256 pixels big. Buildings and units are displayed on the minimap as small squares. In the most cases it will be very difficult, depending on the tileset, to distinguish white color from “Snow” color. Believe me, I am talking from experience. Especially if you got more colors on the map, it will very hard to make out your stuff. Also I think not the displays are the problem, but rather the lightning and the human eye. The difference between those colors is just too small for us. Therefore my suggestion makes still sense.
No it is not too small for us… sRGB was specifically designed such that a component difference between 1 and 2 should result in a similar perceptual difference as from 254 to 255. If it does not then that is the result of a sub optimal display or viewing conditions. All displays follow a sRGB response, at least when playing Warcraft III, but due to imperfections they do not fulfil the associated sRGB colour space, often with difficulties reproducing very dark or very bright colours especially when together in the same scene.
Our eyes operate non linearly with the amount of light they receive. Hence sRGB is also non linear to construct a perceptually linear scale. If one looks at a linear light scale it will look mostly white.
In any case I agree the colour choice is far from optimal, however it is pretty good considering the required number of unique colours that must avoid blending with each other, preferably even for colour blind people. Make it dimmer and it starts to blend towards grey, or one of the blues, etc.
In any case, I have no problems with these colours or with the colour “Snow” per se. I only suggest allowing the player to see his colour on the minimap. Or do you see a problem in that?

Only problem I see is being able to see enemy on minimap is hack, no cheat. Blizzard say “why should you tell difference between snow and you?” So I say maphack is no cheat. Please allow maphack Blizzard for Russia Hackteam, #1 esports fight club in all of Russia and Heroes of the Storm.
Maybe the solution would be to give unique minimap icons to player owned units, such as extra boarders.
So therr is already a solution. You can change the colors on the minimap in game as well as the opponents actual model color.
I want to complain about how bad blizzard is handeling things too because there is a lot for us complain about…lets make sure were doing it right.
@SouL Tell me how exactly you can change the colors on the minimap? And we are not talking about team-colors.
