Maphacking - Dont buy this

Recently dove into the game and found a decent w/r pretty fast, got up to higher ranks and i wasn’t impressed. Primarily due to the lack of scouting.

This didn’t deter my enemies from knowing what i was doing though. A few, upon review, did what is called “Justified engagement”. For example, no scouting takes place the entire game, but when a sneaky expo goes down, opponents “third eye” demands he send out scouts at this point in the game, just to ensure the maphacking itself isnt too obvious.

Again, this is why South Korea will always have a superior set of Esport players - where cheating is outlawed and illegal, people can play the game proper and be rewarded consistantly for smart play.

In NA the maphacking is so common across every RTS that, we will never actually know how good we are, or how good we could become. Fact is, people who don’t maphack are banging their head against a brick wall, and maphackers are playing an entirely different game.

Part of me thought maybe - just maybe there wouldnt be this issue on such an old game, after all, it does take work to create a working maphacking by someone who is highly skilled. To my surprise, the freebies are still floating around - it took me less than 30 seconds to find a functioning maphack and install it.

This isn’t just the end of WC3 in my eyes but honestly the end of RTS in general. As an American, pvp gaming in any form is just too littered with cheaters to be entertaining.

First, you honestly think there’s no maphacking on 3rd party servers?

Second, not the smartest idea to advertise 3rd party servers in Bliz’s own house.

Edit - Post I was replying to above was removed.

u shall people use maphacking? Its random game, random scouting, everything could be coz lucky

Lutz, thats an interesting approach to the conversation. You seem to hold an inert bias against this idea that people will cheat if it goes without consequence and is free to do.

actually its easier to use those cheats than it is figure out why i had to repurchase a game for a downgrade so that i could remap my hotkeys - which is the only feature gained.

This isn’t 2005 where most people dont understand where to look for things on the internet. And again, its not just a wc3 problem, its widespread. AOE4’s playerbase is majority cheaters, go check out their forums. Starcraft 2 is the same story.

The so called “Warden” has to be the least effective anti-cheat ive ever seen in my life. I’d be more inclined to beleive that they never actually built it and just used it as a scare tactic.

Think of Warden as a commercial antivirus. Just like an antivirus, it will never be able to catch anything it doesn’t know about. It needs to be constantly updated to detect new the newest cheating apps that have been created.

And with WC3R seeming low on the development priority list, its Warden may not be getting updated very frequently, or at all.

Conversely, WoW’s and Overwatch’s Warden is alive and well just based off the constant influx of people complaining about being actioned for cheating/exploiting/botting/etc.

People cry “maphacker” every time they get caught in a disadvantageous situation, like “there’s no way they could have known I was there.” You’re right, they couldn’t have, but people can make educated guesses based on patterns of behavior from their past matches. This kind of calculated positioning is what seperates the good from the rest.

I’m not saying that no one cheats, but your post acts as if literally everyone that isn’t you is cheating, which is simply insulting to all the people who beat you while happening to be in the right place at the right time. You don’t need a map hack to do that, you just need to be smart.

If you’re so convinced that everyone maphacks in all RTS games then your faith in humanity is nonexistent… And you should simply not play them then.
