Can we get bigger maps? As in map dimensions? RPG maps that mimic locations from other games like westeros or azeroth or even earth would greatly benefit from it I think.
It will be possible. They said bigger maps will be possible in upgraded editor but we dont know what Max size will be possible
I’d forgive everything that was scrapped from Reforged for bigger maps.
Not much was scrapped at all. The vast majority of what was “promised” last year is still in.
Thank you this makes me happy!
A lot I cared about was in fact scrapped. Culling-style cutscenes, alternative voice actors, additions to the games story, reflective armor, a minimalstic UI and probably a bunch of other stuff. I’ll still enjoy the game for sure but it’s honestly really unfortunate in my opinion.
Culling-style cutscenes
I was actually hoping these’d be scrapped for personal reasons.
alternative voice actors
Don’t really matter to me either way.
additions to the games story
This is a double edged sword. We’re talking about a company that hasn’t written decent lore since 2009, if I’m being generous. The additional bits might have actually hurt the story rather than helped it, so I’m glad they’re not taking the risk.
reflective armor
Not gonna lie, I will miss this. But at least on High settings in the beta right now the metal armor is still shiny and somewhat metallic looking.
minimalstic UI
That UI was ugly as hell. Not sad it’s apparently gone.
All of it would’ve been optional according to them so it wouldn’t have hurt anybody and have helped the game get a bigger more diverse audience.
Even if the UI wasn’t pretty (I agree), it saves a lot of space for actual gameplay to be shown. The classic one is unnecessarily massive. They should at least shrink it by like 25%.
Dude… you’re underestimating the backlash Blizzard got just for announcing those whether they were optional or not.
Like it or not, they decided to take that feedback into account. We’re still getting a Reforged campaign, but it’s going to be scaled back from what they originally wanted to do. Which is ultimately for the best, I think.
I know of the backlash. I just cannot understand how insecure people can be about an optional feature while the feature you like is still in the game. People likely just didn’t even realize that it was optional since that was only mentioned in the panel.
Now they have the same amount of backlash from the different side but unlike previously, they won’t have the option they want since it was removed completely.
All that is assuming they actually did this due to the backlash and not just because they ran out of budget/time which in my opinion is the more likely case.
I think it was a combination of things.
The massive layoffs earlier this year probably cost the team a few members and the forums were exploding with anti-WoW-lore sentiment at around the same time. The beta we were supposed to get in spring then “mysteriously” never happened, which makes me think they took the feedback and reduced numbers into account and started over.
Hence why we’re getting the beta now almost a full year after the original announcement.
