Make the campaign 2 player

Title. Give us something for a second player–whether it’s falric/marwyn, shandris feathermoon, or whoever, as demi-heroes of some sort, or shared control, it would be amazing to be able to show my friends the campaign by playing alongside them.

Whenever i try to bring a friend to a strategy game i don’t have anything to play with them. It often happens to me that because we play 1v1 i just either beat them every time and they quit the game because who likes losing? Or i just wait for him to kill my units while i’m drinking a tea in the kitchen (and they probably haven’t finished building their base yet, not to mention attack my base).

I also tried playing 2v2 because i didn’t want to fight my friends and every time we lost my friend felt guilty because we lost because he is bad at the game. I tried telling him something like “Don’t worry bro everyone is bad when they first play”…but the excitement was already lost

I also tried telling my friends “Play the campaign because its very fun and interesting”…and i’m still waiting for them to play it…

Blizzard please GIVE US A WAY TO INTRODUCE PLAYERS TO THE GAME
Starcraft Co-op is not a good way to introduce players to the game trust me…i tried it 3 times and i failed.

Warcraft has about 60 missions which means i will be playing 60 games with my friend and that may make him:

  1. Get used to the game mechanics and interface.
  2. Get interested in the story and lore.
  3. After completing the Campaign they will want to continue playing because they start feeling comfortable with the game or they want continuity.
  4. Because there are no more missions to play they will think “maybe i should try multiplayer melee game” or “Maybe we can play some custom maps” or “Maybe i should download a custom Campaign”

But if i try to introduce him with melee games, we don’t get past 10 matches because he is not bound to the game because he doesn’t know the story or is not used to the game or other stuff.
If i try to introduce him by playing custom games then he doesn’t get the right feeling about the game AND they are not bound to the game because they don’t know the story.
Imagine if i introduced a friend with the custom game “Pudge wars” or “Slide Sponge Bob” or “trolls and elves” he will think Warcraft is a cheap game. And while these games are fun, they are not meant to represent the whole game

This! I recall switching to Battleforge so that I could play 2-players campaigns.

you can easy set up a 2v2 game vs AI

Would love if they added so that a second player could play with you in the campaign. They don’t have to add a second race or another city hall. They just have to add the function to share control of the units with a friend. It can’t be that hard to just add that function. Seems like a lot of people want this. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t add this choice?

Yes but how many games should you play before playing with other people?
Of course we played against the AI at first but never enough games to be able to play decent, because its just becomes straightforward and boring because the objective is always the same. Playing a Campaign on the other hand is far more entertaining because you feel like what you are doing means something and not just “Learning”.
I doubt there people playing Warcraft 3 that never played the campaign. If such a person exists then how did he start playing? What made him interested in Warcraft?

What About Coop missions like In SC2? you can still Play These missions over and over again because ist fun to Play with every unique commander you can choose from and with the Level-System to Level up your commander it´s the best Thing when you only want to Play with your friend!

Co-op works for a while but its still very repetitive (i think it has about 10 missions)…I played it with some friends till we got to to brutal difficulty and then we did some weekly mutation, then got bored and downloaded a custom map where you could play the Co-op races in melee and we played about 10-15 games 2v2 and it was very fun but we got bored after a while because some Comanders were OP like Karax and his instant building cannon rushes. We also encountered some bugs in the map. After that haven’t touched Co-op excewpt for 2-3 games. I think i got 7-8 commanders leveled to 15 in total on my 2 accounts. Don’t remember highest lvl i got but i wasn’t very interested playing more because the talents you got were just Cooldown for skills or damage for heroes (nothing to special).

Co-op is okay as something to do when you get bored of melee but i don’t think its a good way to introduce a new player to the game. Co-op doesn’t have a story to keep you interested. I would rather play the campaign with someone new. I did try to bring one friend to Starcraft through Co-op but he never got very interested in the game. I also tried to play co-p with 2 cousins and the same happened. Maybe it was not entirely the fault of co-op. Maybe its just that they didn’t like the game itself

Playing These Commanders in melee for sure they are unbalanced because they are meant to play in coop not in melee. still how many Hours you got out of the coop mode? with 8 commanders leveled up to 15 you surely will have like 60-70 Hours of playtime and i know some guys that have much more Hours because of the Level System this coop mode has. sure Campaign would be neat but you only through it once because after that i can´t see why are you returning to it Maybe 1 more time with higher difficulty that was it there is no Progression System behind that except the Story. each his own what they prefer i prefer coop and we have many many unique race´s so missions never get boring atleast for me and my Friends.

i also have a poll that was created a few days ago that show´s at what Players are interested in: xhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf0ul5uDgAxdRbqGSMvoRhS-5ceKVWqXhSxv2A5wSN6ZM-GPQ/viewanalytics (delete the x)

Well i do have a lot of hours playing Co-op but i wish i could say the same for the friends i tried to bring in the game. Most of the time i played Co-op was with friends that got into the game without me having to recommend the game. Also i DO NOT say that i don’t want Co-op in Warcraft. On the contrary i would like if they added it to Warcraft and i will play it for sure. I just want to say that it is not a good way to introduce a new player to the game. How did you get into warcraft/starcraft?

I believe there is already a way to make the entire campaign 2 player. Someone sent a link to a map pack that does that either on this forum or the classic games forums. Go check it out

Wasn’t that person me?

RPG maps are the way to go. There are plenty of co-op campaigns that have really good stories, or if you like pure arcadey co-op romps too.

Google search and check the Hive for some good maps.

Maybe, not sure. All I know is that no one has mentioned this to the OP yet.

I did play Warcraft 2 player campaign. All i want is for Blizzard to make the campaign for 2 players. Because:

  1. fanmade 2 player campaign is not complete/finished
  2. It has a lot of bugs
  3. It has a way to save the progress but its a complete pain in the ars
  4. Less than 1% of warcraft players even know of its existence (i’ve been playing warcraft for years and i found out about it randomly long after it was released)
  5. The fanmade campaign most likely will not work properly without it being patched and those who made it quit the game.
  6. Blizzard intends to modify the original campaign so it will be different that the one made by players.
  7. We need a way to introduce players to the game without forcing them to play the campaign in singleplayer. It was nice to play the campaign in singleplayer in the past but the times changed. When i played the campaign i did not even have internet at that time. Nowadays people are less attracted to singleplayer because they have internet which was not very common in the past.
