Mac Software unable to launch WC3 Reforged

Dear Technical Support
I’m Reporting that Mac OS Sequoia 15.0.1 still is unable to Launch WC3 Reforged. When you press play it indicates launching then reverts back to play. As an unwavering supporter of Blizzard products for 20+ years, I’ve become very confused on why there has not been an update to this situation in over 4 days in counting. I wonder if this situation involved other PC software that it would l be taken more seriously.
Sincerely,
Mac User

Depends on that software’s priority, as it does for any software.

Due to it’s retirement status, WC3R is low priority compared to the flagship games.

Oh of course, they would have fixed it immediately if it was an issue with the Windows version. Since WC3 is such an old game they feel justified in being extremely lazy with its development/maintenance despite charging $40 for it which is hilarious for an incompetently-reskinned 20 year old game whose classic version is still better than the so-called “Reforged” version.

Well yeah, faster at least. The windows version would have a far, far larger impact.

That’s the consquense of choosing which OS to play on.

Old? It was released in 2020. It’s quite new compared to the overall catalog.

And the issue is retirement, not lazyiness. There’s a whole gaggle of folks who think that a retired game should have comparable attention as before it was retired.

I don’t disagree. But the reskins are peanuts among the problems the game has.

A retired software means a STABLE version. We never see Microsoft update a crash patch to WindowsXP and say “ops, XP was retired, you have to understand this”.

Stop talking about RETRIED, which highlights your ignorance.

No, it doesn’t.

It means that at the time of retirement, it’s no longer being developed, meaning the state it’s in is how it will remain for the remainder of its operational life.

And, as technology advances and the game doesn’t, its performance will degrade more and more to eventually it will barely function on modern systems.

That said, Bliz does tend to address the large impact, game breaking bugs that occur in their retired games. And that’s exactly what they said about this current issue.

You don’t seem to know much about Windows end-of-life. When a Windows OS is retired, they completely stop updates, forever. If something goes wrong, it stays that way forever. They do not fix anything, including major issues, that come up.

Heed your own words. I’ve done nothing of the sort by simply explaining reality. You on the other hand did by attempting to make up and push your own personal, made up definition of retired.

learn dot microsoft dot com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-xp

go and check what is “Extended Support”.
However, Bliz is selling War3R today, in this way, War3R shall be in “mainstream support”. You can’t retried a product while it’s still being sold, this is a COMMON SENSE.

You don’t seem to know much about software development.

Right, part of MS’s end of life process is providing only major issue and security updates before it’s officially retired. Thus, when extended support ends, it’s retired.

So, what happens when then, s0numb? No more updates to break anything, and no fixes when things break on their own.

At least Bliz has been good enough to continue updates for major issues after retiring some of their games.

So, your analogy didn’t fit before and it still doesn’t fit now. It’s not me demonstrating a lack of understanding software development.

Really? O.o

D1, D2, D3, WC1, WC2, WC3, SC1, SC2, Heroes are all retired and are still being sold and/or have active MTxs in them. Of those D1, D2, WC1 and WC2 are not getting any updates at all, meaning no fixes for all the problems they’ve developed over time, yet are still being sold.

Your opinion doesn’t make something common sense.

It helps to consider all the independent facts surrounding an argument before making assertions that are independently verifiable.

Same for me

I have the same issue. For a game I just paid for and barely got the chance to use before updating my OS it’s ridiculous that this has yet to be fixed or even addressed.

What a travesty i bought this game a month or so ago after not being able to play for like 15 years and now i can’t play it because it won’t load on mac i want a full refund

Request one then.

The initial step is an automated one that will likely deny it because you’re outside the refund window. However, at the bottom of the denial is a “I need more help” link which will lead to a manual refund ticket. Explain the situation, calmly, and you might have a chance at a refund.

Any news on this, Blizzard? Another couple of weeks have gone by, and we still cannot play this game on our Macs running MacOS Sequoia 15.0.1

AGREED - i’ve been a huge fan of this company for decades now - why are they not addressing this issue? I know its not the flagship, but we’re now 3 weeks in with hardly a mention or response - WC3 is one of the best games of all time - I hope they remember what an asset they have - I hope that someone on their team is monitoring this chat

They are, but just to delete posts.

Wc3 si where blizzard starts. If they forget this we forget they. Windows or Mac it is not important, it’s a symptom of little professionalism. Thanks

When will the matter be resolved?

For weeks we’ve been waiting and unable to play, it’s really disheartening. Out of respect and decency, Blizzard should have adressed this a long time ago.

Multiple weeks and still no answer on this issue. I just want to play single player and I have to be online to do that.
Not a fan of blizzard anymore. Will not be purchasing anything else from them.
