When Acolytes summon a building, strange limbs emerge from the soil and arrange themselves around the summoning circle. They look like Old God limbs at first glance, but does that make sense? Back then the Scourge was still very much a part of the Burning Legion, which opposes the Old Gods and their masters.
Ziggurats seem to feature similar limbs, but their architecture is Nerubian in origin. As we know, both living and unliving Nerubians fought the Old Gods’ forces in Warcraft III and later in World of Warcraft. So, there is no meaningful connection here either.
Intrigued by this strange detail, I checked some World of Warcraft Scourge assets from the Plaguewood in Eastern Plaguelands, which was the most heavily infected region in Lordaeron during the Third War. Interestingly, the Ziggurats there seem to feature solid and inanimate bone arcs instead of moving limbs. Since the developers intend to draw heavily on current canon, this might hint at some changes.
What do you think the animations and assets will look like in Reforged and what would be best for the game’s lore? I can hardly wait to find out.

I see them as necromantic magic summoning magic, complete with bone tentacles that end up with a structure befitting a place of such creatures.
Ziggurats draw a clear influence from the Nerubians and their own architecture but modified for the Scourge’s purposes.

they are bones with joints. I don’t think there’s any issue there.

First of all Warcraft III was before all that Old God stuff coming into the lore.
Second: They summon buildings with necromantic magic from Northrend just like Naxxramas they are Nerubain architecture (just like in WoW) combined with necromancy bones and stuff

I wouldn’t consider any Old God lore into that considering the Faceless and the Forgotten One were the only ones to appear in the lore, and they were treated solely as NPC homages to Lovecraft.
The shadowy tendrils theme and the lore of the void was not added until much later. There’s also a lot of things changed like the green flames of Fel magic not being a concrete thing until TBC. I’m sure some will change, but just as easily some things will remain anachronistic for the sake of visual appeal.
