List of suggestions.(spectator, archon, campaign, etc)

This is a repost from something I put in a feedback topic in the classic games area, and thought it’d best here.

Great job on the announcement. If I even would’ve ever imagined a wc3 remaster it already looks better than my thoughts could’ve put together.

For my few suggestions I’m going to gloss over a few things people have already glanced over.

Allow the camera to zoom out further. (#1 and already lied. Just thought this should be exaggerated)

If you do allow +12 unit selections, make it so its either tied to world edit triggers in the map, or its some other game mode… like Melee+ or Ranged for a good laugh. Obviously increasing the unit count would change the difficulty without some way to differentiate, or even place an advantage over classic client players in the cross-play.

Add co-op commanders. While obviously most campaign and melee units are directly one of the same, making it so you’d have to tap into fonts of inspiration and custom assets; I can’t help but feel this would be a bountiful addition. You can even start off with how SC2 did, giving us: Jaina(humans), Thrall or Grom(orcs), Sylvanas(undead), Tyrande or even Shandris(Nelves) just as direct mirrors of the melee factions. You could even go a step further, and as well include one of the two campaign specific races: fel orcs and naga. Having Illidan and all his amphibious glory, or just add a custom Kargath hero to lead his army of redskins.

Going further on and expanding beyond the melee tool kits and assets, it’d even be an oppourtunity to tap into the community and tap into $$. Make Antonidas, a dalaran faction with a twist, maybe using elementals and constructs in place of their infantry, and an expansion of mages over ranged units. As well fueling them with alternative skins that could be eventually placed in their own skin packs for melee. Another idea would be Kael’thas or Liadrin as a belf one, but making them further beyond their TFT variant. Reskinned humans with naga to fill the dwarf gaps. Great places to look for inspiration for these beyond the lore books I can’t help but point out the time tested Azzy Wars and DaoW from the community itself. Often making many factions, even ones of the same race have their own identity.

As I mentioned with the co-op commanders you’d already be making a handful of custom assets and you could just expand them further and charge for a reasonable fee.

Entirely unique skins. Keeping functionality and hit boxes the same, it’d be great to see entire flips to races through skins. Like a Orcs versus Humans skin pack. Turning tauren to Wow’s dire orcs or classic ogres, bat riders to drakes, and headhunters to orcish spearthrowers, and witch doctors to necrolytes. Humans of course would see their human magi fielded, and gunpowder added to their arsenal. Praise Sigmar.

Include the entirety of Exodus of the Horde campaign default with the RoC campaign. The three missions tacked on TFT that were originally left out, were left voiceless.

Allow the ability to flip between old and new voicelines when the new WoW voice actors eventually fill their roles. Certain people like Rexxar and Mal’ganis sound entirely different.

If Anub’arak is a commander, if they’re ever put in use… give him that crypt lord burrow never used…

Allow reconnecting from dc’d players

Hearthstone like spectating? Drop in on a friend and watch his game.

Add an icon preview display and X units for control groups like SC2. That or give people the ability to customize the UI to add one in. If you’re not a habitual player, you wont have to guess where you put your smithies, barracks, or army; you can just glance for the icon.

Edit: Oh right, don’t be afraid to naval maps for commanders… make them shipyards and boats buildable just so you can do maps to show off the naval superiority of naga.(also co-op commander versus battles in either 1v1 and or 2v2)

A draw tool in replay or even spectator mode. Similar to what Total War has for their replay features just to either highlight things for possible youtube videos or streams, or to mark something down for yourself. If used in spectator mode, add a special affix to it (agian something like Melee+) This can either be used as a coaching tool for someone to get really hands on for the player theyre lecturing or it can even be a psuedo archon for a ‘2v2’ fight. And on that note…

Archon mode for a true CO-OP campaign. Or even add the ability for dual base co-op RoC/TFT campaign by adding certain heroes like (Nazgrel, Falric, Rommath, Rivendare. Another source of inspiration the 2player campaign series on the original wc3)

Give human militia 10000-20000 chaos dmg to counter blademasters.

That is all my suggestions! Thank you for your time who ever reads this. And I hope what ever treatment the D2 remaster gets, is as good as this.

And to add a few things after discussing with friends, and as well getting more information about the game.

With changes already to maps to represent their WoW equivalents, I also heard about the desire to change the lore of wc3 campaign to represent what may’ve been retconned in times since. While a few of my peers would love to see this as a chance to spot things lets say Rommath with Kael, or the showdown between Anasterian and Arthas. I can’t help but feel obviously this would make some people fish out of water. IF the original campaign is not only changed in look but story to represent current lore. Can the old and original campaigns be added to the custom campaign section like the last 3 missions of Exodus of the Horde was for TFT.

ANd on another note, additional official campaigns. Campaigns narrating the creation and the duration between Vanilla WoW and wc3. The founding of the Argent Dawn and Scarlet Crusade, following Alexandros, Maxwell, etc. Obviously being dlc content if they were ever placed I would mind paying a fee for another area of content. Other areas that’d fit while I dont think every WoW xpac could be perfectly represented in an rts format, I feel that the Wrath of the Lich King could be, and I wouldnt think of any other better one to tag along TFT. But as well TBC, Cata or even the questionable BFA and WoD could get some spotlight in an rts format(proper warfronts yknow) with portions or retelling or imaginings of their stories in here.

edit 11/6/18: Kick functionality for hosted games. Vote kicking, kicking, and being able to just start and votestart has been a feature for bots for some time. While obviously all of the vote settings can easily get abused, opt-in opt-out for those of the host in creation of the lobby could work.

I also do understand most of these would only be looked at post launch. Such as the campaign, co-op commander, and skin suggestions. But I do hope all of the other things I listed like: If in the event the push for +12 unit selection came through, to make it a seperate melee mode, replay functions, and spectator functionality and drop in/drop out spectating, as well reconnecting to previously a previously game played u dc’d from.

Edit: 11/9

Weekly Brawls similar to hearthstones? 1v1 battles of special unit factions, be it either like the Illidari faction, strictly blood elf, or stuff like that. It doesnt necessarily have to be balanced just a fun ever changing thing too.

(Naga vs blood elves. Other options could be 3v1 against archimonde etc fun things.)
