Blizzard, with your survey news regarding legacy art update please realize that the community doesn’t actually want you to overwrite and replace the classic models. but provide a middle man option, probably coupled with Reduced Storage Size Capacity for downloading the game with or without HD or any other new resources.
If you actually change CASC paths to SD assets and/or completely overwrite them you’re going to torch 12+ years of community made resources that are the bread and butter of custom maps abroad. i hope you do realize that incase you had some funny ideas about overwrite.

This topic is lacking context. What survey news?
A lot of people just want the there to be separate deployments of Warcraft III Reforged, one for Reforged with is Reforged + Classic graphics and another for Classic which is just Classic graphics. This would save 20 GB odd of storage space for people who only play Classic, such as legacy licence holders.
Blizzard sent a survey by email to anyone who’s played W3R (even if they refunded it- it asks if you own reforged, refunded it, or never owned it at all) asking them about how much various features are valued, the current state of those features (that exist), etc.
Also the OP really needs to be careful about saying what “the community” wants. You don’t represent the community. You can say “some of” or “many in” or something like that based on your observations, but not the entire community.

I have a separate “deployment” of W3, it sits on my drive right along side W3R. I installed it from the original disks and installed the updates for it that were available online. You can do this too. I also have a copy running on old hardware for the pure nostalgia (same with Starcraft and Diablo I and II).
You can still play the old game. The only issue is that it is no longer compatible with Battle.net. I believe there are even ways around that but it takes some ingenuity. The older games were good like that.
Don’t you guys miss the old days where games as a service wasn’t a thing?

you can not get the modern balance updates with the CD version.
This affects your skirmish vs AI - and with some data tweaking it can also affect campaign balance.

Indeed. Modern Balance Updates are part of the Modern Problem with Gaming.
One that is up to date and delivered by CDN rather than coming on some piece of plastic modern kids might not know how to insert into their computer.
If you were smart about it you don’t need even need the piece of plastic. It can just be a nostalgic piece of memorabilia that sits on your desk.

Fair point but this is an exception to the norm, literally no one wants SD or HD to be removed or overwritten. this isn’t about bias or unbias. so my comment was trying to give a bit of a poke to blizzard so they dont think about some one size fits all funny plan xD
