So AOE team is the pinnacle of remastering games.You know what they do, they never kill or replace existing working games. This is because they love the IP and respect the people who created it back in the day.
You can still play the old CD version of AOE1, it doesn’t automatically connect to xbox services.
AOE2 can still be installed via CD and doesn’t connect to Xbox services.
AOE2 HD is still there on steam and anyone can play on modern systems.
AOE3 (2007) still available to play on steam
AOM extended edition still available to play on steam.
The people who work there and geniuses and no lazy fools like you guys at blizzard. Who in their right mind would replace a completely normally fully working product and make it worse?
Stop replacing products. If you want to make something with a variation of existing make it as a separate game.

They replaced Starcraft 1 quite fine with the Remastered version and nobody is complaining about that.
Only reason this game is getting flak is because a gutted budget means they couldn’t finish what they started.
if they were smart they wouldnt even have needed a big budged, just make a call out like ‘‘hey wc3 lovers, we need you to volunteer for you to fix the crap we made’’ and hundreds of people would have comme.

Hundreds of people with actual programming experience with that specific game engine? Unlikely. And those people would not work for free. You’d also need them under NDA, proof of their competence as standard hiring practices dictate as well as having them all be under the same proverbial roof (Working for a US-based company) which would be a nightmare for HR.
Not to mention the idea of working for a company currently being investigated for workplace discrimination and harassment by the state of California.
If they were smart, they would not have gotten their budget cut after they announced the project in 2018. Pandemic or no, that was their biggest mistake.
people made even better wow classic coppies then blizzard did, what makes you think they would have problems with warcraft 3?

Much easer just AI all game resources and reupload
Then they should have left it the hell alone…offered refunds to those who bought Reforged…

They did. For a long time you were able to get a refund for Reforged no matter what, even if you had already accumulated more than 2 hours of gametime or had gone more than 2 weeks after purchase.
However, that was revoked some time ago.
All they did with SC1 was update the models to make it look good while keeping the artstyle. That’s exactly what they should have done with Reforged but they talked about changing the story to fit WoW(even though WC3 still fits WoW just fine).
And instead of new models that kept the style, they did that outsourced garbage that looks like a knockoff mobile game.
