Large Multiplayer Custom Maps Unplayable

When creating a Custom Games above of a certain size, the game will bug out and not correctly display the map or allow other to join, while in the lobby screen. I spent months making custom maps that I cannot even play. Instead of changing the attack damage of a ghoul by one or two with these insignificant patches, how about you fix a core problem with the game??? This has been out way too long for this to exist.

You have to consider some things while you make your map. I’ve experienced some issues a long time ago. Maybe this can help you.

I understand the limits and think they are silly for 2020. 250mb is ridiculous. If I add music or voice overs the map file will quickly grow. I dont; have any of the simple errors of max doodads or other things. I’ve been making maps for WC3 since the game came out. Blizzard needs to set the MAX map size for custom games up to 5GB (for instance) so it becomes a non-issue. If you are running a potato computer, I didn’t design my amp[s for that. I use the new models, new textures (Silvermoon ETC) which I’m sure have no equivalent. I’m going to keep posting this dumb bug until Blizzard fixes it.

By the way you speak, I can see you’re missing a lot of features of the new world editor and don’t have much knowledge about file sizes, conversions and formats. Wich one of the most famous and fun custom maps ever used anything near 300mb? You said 5GB? At classic times 300mb of map size wasn’t even possible. Reforged is giving us 250mb. Wich custom game is using all this map size even nowadays? I’m using A TON of new models and doodads in my new map and and right now it has only 23mb. My last map had more than 6k doodads, 38 min of imported music, and it had only 16 MB. You’re clearly missing features and better tools in your mapmaking stuff.

I have a modded copy of Patch 1.27 where I compressed the game MPQs to 100 MB and it was still playable. Why does your map need to be bigger than the game itself? xD

I remember when it was a huge gamechanger to go from 4 MB to 8MB for maps. Reforged broke a lot and still hasn’t fixed it, but give credit where it’s due.
