With the latest patch you can still host a LAN game while not logged in to battle.net, but to join any game on the LAN you need to be logged in. This is a PITA when trying to join from multiple of my own machines when testing multiplayer maps etc. Worked pretty well before this patch. Kind of reminds me when Brood War broke the StarCraft spawn, but at least that was not a game that had already been working fine for 2 decades! TLDR it is now impossible to have more than 2 players in a LAN game with a single account.
I wonder if this was intentional or not.
Once possibility for it being intentional is that they patched out the ability for one paid client to host a bunch of different people who have not paid.
There might be a (really stupid) workaround.
The party interface is still there on the LAN screen. Try forming a party before creating the game and maybe the party members can join.
I dunno probably wont work but its an idea.
