HI Jerry here, I am a bit curious…
Has anyone ever asked a question about combining items?
For example…
If you have a ring of protection +1 and a ring of protection +2 ,in two different item slots of your hero’s inventory, can you combine them into a ring of protection +3, that would just take one place in the slot?
item stacking would horribly break balance, it would essentially give players the ability to stack unlimited items, a feature like that belongs in MobAs where you only have 1 hero, but in wc3 you can have up to 3 heroes which gives you 18 item slots, and there is also an upgrade called backpack which gives each unit 2 additional items slots for you to carry items around without your hero nearby, 6 item slots is the perfectly balanced amount of items per individual hero
well limit it to three items that can be combined, do not go limitless…
It can influence the game in the positive way, because u can make use of less usable items…
blizzard looked into changing the overall item system, they released some leaked screenshots back in the spring (only to a select few pro players) and in those leaked screenshots, they showed off a new item system and it was not something most hardcore players wanted
based on the recent announcements, blizzard has scrapped many of their bigger ideas because they were either too big or too challenging to implement within the timeframe of 2019. blizzard also said they are trying to keep the game unchanged for the competitive players, and they also admitted that balancing is very difficult
with that said, its just unlikely that there will be a new item system… who knows maybe they will change their minds, but i doubt it
Nice one. There’s literally 6 slots so you CAN’T stack a lot of items. A lot of items have a huge impact on the game. Stacking them would be even more of an impact.
Try again. It’s not happening. Ever.
You’d need a ladder that goes forever to get up to my IQ. Sick try at a burn though. You want to combine items play DOTA or LoL.
There technically already exists a system, you just need to make it a trigger-based one (which is pretty clunky to set up), but I doubt Blizzard implementing a default version would be a major improvement to the tediousness of specifying fusions which is most of the work for that kind of system anyways.
And you will need to buy recipes to combine these items and there will be sort of secret vendor hidden on the map selling stronger variants of certain items and … wait a moment …
Without recipes, combine them in the forge for example, or in goblins lab whatever (for a certain amount of gold or lumber or both)… And combine only those that make sense, like hand items with only other hand items, (claws and claws, rings and rings, gloves and claws etc, and limit it to a certain nuber) and similar, not literally all items. Not like dota, in a different way, which may improve the use of less quality items and improve quality of the game (if possible)
I think its a good idea, as you said it can be maxed in 3 stacks. Duplicate items have a cooldown so it would make sense to stack. The last stacked item is the first dropped & could have a way of dropping all like holding down mouse click for a split second
I like the idea especially for say single player campaign. It could be a custom rule for melee that you’d select before starting an online game, that way people could choose to play with whichever system they wanted. And honestly, I think that’s they way Blizzard should have gone with everything they cut. That way the purists would have been happy as well as those of us looking for a new and revamped gameplay experience.
