Hi!! i was a huge fan of warcraft 3 in the past and like I used to play their mini games every single night until the community started dying down… So i was really excited when warcraft 3 reforged came out, but it was blasted with a huge lot of criticism.
However, my main purpose is playing WC3 reforged is that i wanna play the mini games again so I am wondering if there is an active community of mini game players there and if the variety of games is huge as I want to make my purchase worth it. Can anyone give me any insights into this?
If you have the W3 you can play it.
And if you do not have friends, surely in any vs you will go some afk. Or by will or by lag.
So I would say no. Until they create something like clans or something like that.
Heroes maps … play Dota or Lol.
Race war … this problem of afk.
Trolls vs elf and the like … It is poorly leveled by the few times I tried it.
Home. If you have a good team, this is good, you lose 1 afk or 1 plays badly. Everything goes to … XD
tower Vs. Some play too well at that.
The werewolf. Brilliant.

Not quite. There’s too many networking issues period and serious map makers have less incentive than ever to continue creating.
Do not buy this crap unless they fix detrimental issues and bring missing features back in full. Even then, it’s hard to recommend purchasing after being crapped on.

Not to mention the large amount of custom maps that has been exposed in using methods and triggers which have an inherent tendency to cause desyncs.
A lot of them in fact. It may have partly been resolved with the use of Host Bots and GProxy/GProxy++ letting you reconnect, but it just shows the underlining issue in using unstable methods, the maps I have been able to check (the ones not locked) all used methods that were strongly recommended to not use on Hiveworks as they were known to cause desyncs/DC.
Heck, both Host Bots and GProxy++ would not have been so widespread if this wasn’t an issue in Custom Maps…
Obviously, global matchmaking and random server selection only exacerbate the issues as they just add another layer of possible desync/disconnection due to packet loss, not to mention that having two different types of inputs (WC3 inputs and WC3:R inputs) is yet another possible cause for desyncs.
It’s all quite a mess right now.

I’ve had zero problems with custom games so far. There always seems to be a variety of different game types being hosted too - and most fill up quick (from my experience). Obviously some bugs have created problems for some people, and obviously there’s less people willing to play because they are forever mad at blizzard for countless reasons… but for some people like myself, i’ve found the game to be worth it and don’t find myself complaining. i’ve already spent many, many nights playing custom games until my eyes bleed, so i would recommend it if you are a long-running fan like i’ve been. The ladder obviously isn’t there yet like some have mentioned, but that doesn’t seem to be a concern for you. If you liked the campaign-side of the game too, then I’ve had a great time with the reforged campaign so far. I’ve played it for countless hours and still have a significant amount left, so there’s always that side of the game too!
And as a disclaimer - I’m not ignoring the fact that you’ll probably run into a bug here and there like most have, but hey, doesn’t every game have them? Overall though, i’d say it’s been easily been worth it to me - flaws and all included.

Just curious, how is it with the server disconnects and desyncs? and also do the bugs make it unplayable? I am just seeking to play campaign and custom games, i dont mind a few bugs here and there but I do mind purchasing it and having no one to play with. BUt with your description, I think I would be a happy buyer thanks alot buddy
I dont recommend purchasing it yet and losing ur temper with the updates that reset ur campaing progress and some errors and issues that were caused by engine modifications.
Maybe with time things start to function and maybe there will be new community created maps that keeps it more fresh.

IMO making Reforged custom models and skins and terrain is harder than in Classic.
The campaign models aren’t finished yet. We don’t even have male DK or DH. Most creators will have to resort to a simple recolor and resizing models, which makes it wack.
So, it’s still a no for me

I thought players returning would be at least one upside of this release, so I can play some custom games again, but no. Playing them is meaningless if most of them end up with a desync.

What do you mean by a desync? So you end up disconnecting? Is this very common?
I would say 1 of 3.

I have seen some people report the issue of losing campaign progress as well - but again, i’m one of the lucky ones who never sees this problem. And the same with desyncs. I’ve had my game freeze up or crash a few times, but i’ve had that happen with literally any video game i play. Thats just the nature of technology to some extent. And i’ll note too, that any game i’ve been in hasn’t had 1/3 of the lobby leaving either, so maybe that poor guy just has terrible luck. I usually see game lobbies fill up quick, and usually no one leaves. But maybe it’s the type of game they play? I’m into any maul or td, footies, hero wars & other simple classics that are fun for the average stoner, but all of those are generally small maps. So maybe large maps like dota and arenas and etc. cause more desyncs and problems? I dunno. Some people just have outdated equipment and connections and just think it’s the game’s fault instead. So who knows. I just know that i’ve had fun and approve, so i’m here to share my positive experience.
And as a general disclaimer again, this game has upset a LOT of people, so you’ll be blasted with a lot of negative comments on this post, and you’ll surely find a lot of other negative reviews if you go forum hunting. I seem to be one of the few positive supporters on the forums, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of others that have had fun so far too - it’s just that their voices won’t be heard. Most people don’t go out of their way to write on a forum if they are happy and satisfied - most people go to forums to report a problem or complain - so that’ll be most of what you hear.
But anyways, it’s as simple as this - you could end up being one of the people who can’t play, or… you could end up having a lot of fun like i am. Not everyone who pays to go to the fair will leave satisfied. Some people get sick on the rides, and some people will get food poisoning. And all of those people will say that the fair sucked. I however, was on the rollercoaster all day and ate whatever i wanted. At the end of the day, we all spend money with the hopes to have fun. And sometimes… it just doesn’t work out. This game appears to have the same gamble, but so don’t most things in life
I think the most upset people are the ones that have seen what the game was and what it has become, this transition from best to worst is reason for my own enragement.
Others who have not experienced it nor had huge prior investment/interest might find Reforged to be just your average day in video games.

i wont ignore the fact the game is missing a lot of the original aspects that made wc3 what it was (profiles, ranked ladder, clans, etc.) - I played the game for 10ish years when it first came out, and was a die-hard try-hard fan. So that part of me is extremely disappointed in the game - but in terms of just simply wanting to have fun on a custom game or campaign mission - i would say the game is no different than what it was. Except it’s 10x more crisp now. Once they introduce clans and the other important social aspects of the game back - the custom games will only become greater. Then we can have all of our hardcore custom game clans back in action, which made even the simplest custom game extremely competitive (like sheep tag clans - such an oddly fun game type, but it was SO competitive). But for now, i’m content with spending all of my time in custom games & the campaign. Lots of fun still!
I’m surprised I still find the campaign really disappointing. It is like a version of the old campaign but without the difficulty.
Go from playing the campaign to just passing missions.
And when I say it is easy. I gave it to my brother who does not play RTS and he won the first four difficult and even he got bored.
