I mean the landscape looks so awful. Low poly and units are high poly.
Rocks are made of plastic with no texture and the ground textures… and everything is far too bright without saturation.

U mean reforged graphics? There is a mod which I use, called Quenching mod (1.5) which change graphics and even (if u want), skin units. Totally recommended, looks like the alpha blizzcon show of warcraft 3 reforged.
I too think it’s a bit too bright. Wish I could change that.
The quenching mod makes the game look a lot better. I’ve played using it for so long I forgot how bad the base game looked until I did a fresh re-install.
the terrain was basically not changed much (at all?) probably for compatability assurance, but yeah. You’ve got newer generation models standing on old generation terrain.
Terrain is limited by the dated engine concepts. If you want better terrain something like StarCraft II does a better job at it.
Thank you. I will try it.
At this point you mightaswell go play Starcraft II or open a campaign for everyone to migrate over.
The Terrain looks bad because the tileset variations added with Reforged are bland and uncanny, not worked on well enough as textures. it has nothing to do with the Classic game and its textures or terrain tilesets.
I re-bought this game after I saw the quenching mod… it’s what the game was supposed to be at launch…
I like classic warcraft 3 terrain better than Starcraft II’s, though. And I even play starcraft more often than wc3 these days
For an early 2000 game it had its charms. However by modern graphical standards WC3 terrain does too much wrong. Three examples of flaws are the limited blend logic (hard to make gradual borders), filtering discontinuities between tiles and no mipmap/tri-linear filtering support (aliasing when texture is visually compressed).
