Is Maphack a thing?

I just left a 4v4 game because of my teammate crying not playing because hes convinced someone on the other team is using maphack.

It is always noobs accusing others of maphack, but I cant find any true info… is it possible to maphack this game?

I’ve only ever ran into a maphack user once (or at least that I knew where it was blatant) back many, many years ago but a simple google search says “yes”.

Even for 1.31.

Seriously who would bother to search for hacks for an ancient ladder that will be reforged probably in like 2 months. You must be really desperate for that. I really doubt that someone would be this bad skilled and dishonest in the game to look for that.

Some people are really validated by Their Account Having Good Numbers, which is weird since the aforementioned extreme method (maphacks, aimbots, trainers, wallhacks, what have you) tends to put the account at incredible risk.

A quick google search does not reveal anything. There are viruses disguised as maphacks, and people complaining about other maphacking. The reality is, when you are against a good player it feels like he is maphacking because he is keeping track of where you are and what you are doing.

Your results must have been different than mine because I saw a site as the first result that’s come up before for Blizzard games in particular. I think it was the same one responsible for the initial spread of aimbotting in Overwatch which subsequently, got the smackdown.

It was funny seeing them complain about getting their accounts banned because there was a lot of “BUT I PAID FOR YOUR GAME” as if terms of service don’t exist.

I would say whole internet is haphacked. Only fools play anymore seriously.

I am trying to find maphack for wc3 as if I want to download it and I cant find anything but what seem to be fake files, unrunnable files, or viruses.

I did find this idea from Momo though!

MomoiroCrose: “Also, in official Warcraft III melee maps, there should be the Glyph of Omniscience power up item that reveals the whole map for all players without detecting invisible and burrowed units. The reason I suggest this idea is to also discourage map hackers from using map hack because it also reveals that map hacker player if you suspect that player to map hack, giving players a more even and more fair playing field at the cost of your own visual information of your units’ and buildings’ whereabouts.”

LMFAO what a goof…

Sounds like somebody doesn’t actually play multiplayer very often, back in 1.26 maphack was rampant, that’s why fans used alternate servers such as W3Arena or Netease. Whenever blizzard releases an update it usually stops maphackers temporarily, around 1.27-1.29 they banned a lot of hackers, and in 1.30 hacks were almost completely removed. I’m sure hacks have come back recently since there hasn’t been an update for quite awhile, but they are far less common than they used to be since the hacking scene dropped dramatically in 1.29

When I was much more consistently playing I was also younger and generally worse at the game, observational skills included.

its not about “observation” its about communicating with other players, there was actually many clans who would help their members setup hacks, and back in 1.26 there was actually a fan-made maphack “detector” which could be used to let you know if somebody was hacking. You could use the detector in-game or in replays, and it was very useful to let you know if your opponents were cheating

trust me almost 50% of top players hacked in 1.26 days (not pro players obviously, but top ladder players)

there was also drop hacks, and autoloss bots which still exist but are less common now

I just meant observation as in even-worse-at-Warcraft-3-KingOmelette never would’ve noticed “oh wow this guy is constantly all over me it’s almost as if he knows my every move”.

because you didn’t play with or talk to any top clans

its very easy to “not notice” when somebody is hacking, unless you knew who the person was and played with them more than once (like in a clan)

Yes, because I was worse at the game back then.

isn’t that basically my point, and why I explained to you why your original reply was wrong?

Your explanation offers some neat insight into that situation from the past but has no bearing on my personal experience.

its far less common now than it was in 1.26, anytime blizzard releases an update they usually block hacks (temporarily) until new hacks are made

hopefully Reforged will do better though

by the way… patch 1.26 was only a few years ago

Okay, and?

you wernt that much younger during 1.26 lol

8 years is a considerable amount of time for me to (A) be younger and (B) improve in Warcraft 3.
