IMPORTANT! DO NOT give neutral creeps so many team color!

there are too many team color area on some neutral creeps, such as dragon wings, turtle shell, it will looks very strange if they have gray wings or shells, and if you are the owner of the units, it can be even worse, such as red dragon with blue wings. these neutral creeps dont need so much team color, it really hard to see player control those units in normal games. give them less team color pls! dragon should have same color wings with their race, and give turtle shell proper color.

p.s> same issue for frost wyrms

I totally agree on this! It should be much more subtle like it was in original game. Since my favorite WC3 custom game (Darwin’s Island) is all about playing with random neutral creeps and evolving into bigger ones, I wouldnt want the team colors to stand out so much. How the team colors were originally used in WC3 for neutral creeps was perfect and thats how it should be done in Reforged as well.

yes,for the trolls and other creatures, they have smart team color design, such as team colored tattoo, clothes and hair, that is good design. for nether dragons, they have only small area team color on their wings , that is enough, and with team color, it will become gradient color effects , good art style. but for the red dragon, there could be red dragon with green wings or blue dragon with red wings, that is terrible!
but for some hero skin, they really need more team color change. daughter of the sea skin only change team color on staff crystal, shoulder armor and color on horse, so you can see jaina wears blue cloak with red shoulder.

Creeps have black team color.
What you are even talking about lmao.

What he means is that whenever you either hire neutral creeps or use them in custom games with different team colors, THEN they would have different team color than black depending on what color you are playing with. Seriously you never played any custom games in WC3 that used the neutral units or hired them in the campaign missions?

I only play dota.

Well then I have to say you really have been missing out if the only thing you cared about WC3 was DOTA…

Why? most custom games are bad.
Ladder is the same thing over and over.
Dota can be played in any way you want.

Well thats your opinion. Ive had TONS more fun with other custom games than I ever had with DOTA. Also no ladder game is exactly the same it honestly depends on who you are up against and what race you are playing.

I mean I do get that DOTA is your thing, there is nothing wrong with that. But I honestly think you should be more open minded to other custom games as well, have you even ever properly tried many of them out? Ever heard or played Darwin’s Island or Uther’s Party for example? Or have you ever even touched the singleplayer campaings?

To me Warcraft III is the greatest game of all time, because ALL of these things. Singleplayer campaings/story and all its characters, ladder and ALL the different kind of custom games…in fact DOTA wasnt even ever one of my favorites or what I would have played huge amounts, but its propably the best example how it was thanks to WC3 and its community that entirely new game/genre was born out of it.

But ye, thats why I say that I think you have been missing out alot…cause while to you WC3 might be all about DOTA, for me and countless others its been the “whole package” of what Warcraft III has offered over the years.

So ye, if you only enjoy the game because of DOTA, then thats your thing, but I honestly get kind of feeling that you might not have really given fair chance to atleast other custom games if you just plainly state that all other custom games out there are bad/trash.

But giving them so much team color is a good thing for custom games. Many custom games use neutral creeps models to make heroes.

I tried, but they’re not any fun. I don’t think mapmakers put in enough effort to make quality maps. Tags have too much downtime. TDs take no skill. Footies suffer from staling like most FFA games. Big battle maps are just big and dumb. HLW and CHS are casual filters. Party maps always have 3 garbage minigames for every 1 that is good.

The only maps outside dota that really stand out to me is Elimination Tournament and Warlocks. Having refined both gameplay and balance to the point of perfection. Other maps are just lacking, sadly.

Here’s some custom games that you should try:

  1. World of Strife: Exodus
  2. World of Strife: Retribution
  3. World of Strife: Tribulations
  4. Founders of the North
  5. Northrend Bound
  6. The Black Road
  7. Lordaeron: The Aftermath
  8. Lordaeron: The Foremath
  9. Kalimdor: The Aftermath
  10. Sunken City (definitely the best RPG map to exist)
  11. Ultimate Battle

IMO a custom game is good if it has:

  • Custom skins
  • Custom models
  • Triggered Spells and Effects
  • Spells with stat scaling like max/current/missing health, mana, damage, attributes
  • Custom voice-over
  • Raised and not elevated terrain

If a custom map has at least 4 of those, it’s good. I don’t want to see another custom game with literally just resized/recolored units with standard boring spells

Your criterias are hilariously bad wow.

DOTA was by far the most played game typ in WC3, most people barely touched melee, as it was stressful imbalanced mess, with Super Blademasters and Deamon Hunters that destroyed whole armies, and creep jacked to prevent you from getting XP.

It wasn’t even a “learn to play” issue, as most people just started doing the same abuse, if they had any interest in melee at all.

I know DOTA was far the most popular custom game in WC3…I just think its a shame that many people really didnt give even a chance to other custom game types, although ofc many of them had already died out by the time DOTA became incredibly popular and main game type that most people played and the host bots made it sure it stayed that way.

I mean ofc this also comes down to personal taste, Im not arguing against that, but I would hope that people would be more open minded and explore some of the custom games that they might not ever have even tried out back in the day.

Most people did try out many customs, and even melee, but it was generally disliked. Back in the day, I knew people that bought War3 just for DOTA, and did not even touch the campaign.

Ye I know, I just think its great shame, cause I honestly thought there were lots of other great custom games, but clearly Im in minority with my opinion on that regard…Anyhow these days DOTA players have League of Legends and Valve’s DOTA 2 (still think its stupid how Blizzard didnt use their chance to trademark it when they had a chance) so I dont expect the custom game lobbies of Reforged to filled only with DOTA players

To be honest, I think Reforged DOTA is going to be crap, and people will go back to DOTA2. Why even pay for a game another company offers for free?

To be honest I really like the much heavier team colour on creeps.
In many of the original creeps it was hard to tell at all what team they were on.
Yes, in melee the vivid white (not a big fan of that change, prefer black as neutral colour over white, but that may just be nostalgic bias) is a bit much on some units.

Ideally the “neutral hostile” colouration of each model is a bit more subtle and less obnoxious but for custom games, I really love the visual clarity.

THIS. Many people claim to be excited for “DotA Reforged” until they saw the price tag and the fact that they can no longer pirate it. (I think the CD key verification started in Classic 1.28?)

Care to make any counterargument?
