But I uninstalled it to update to the new version of Warcraft 3 Classic (Before Reforged came out mind you) because I discovered remakes mods for Warcraft 1 and 2 for Custom Campaigns.
I had to update the Classic Game because the mods required the most up to date version of Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne which was I think Patch 1.31.
But now I can’t even play those mods anymore that were made for that patch. Because now that version of Warcraft 3 is gone. I have my disc version but sadly it doesn’t come with the Rexxar campaign and no 1080p.
So this is where I am. Either stick with Reforged but no mods. Or play an even older version of Warcraft 3 on Disc with no mods and no Rexxar campaign.
All I can say is, whoever made those Warcraft 2 and 1 mods. You should have made those mods compatible with older patches of Warcraft 3.

You still do. Reinstall the game from your disk and set it up the same way you did for the last 10 years before WC3R
How? Because when I trying to update my older version of Warcraft 3. It didn’t work because it required me to download a newer version of Classic Warcraft 3 from an installer.
The update was incompatible with the Warcraft 3 I used to have.

What he means is that, when he installs old client and tries to update it to 1.31, it’s not possible. It goes straight to reforged. So yeah, he can play whatever version is on his disk.

There is a way to get the old client but I’m fearful of sharing it here. Check reddit. Specifically /r/wc3
I have versions of the installer (I always keep backups). So no, I’m not jsut consuming, I’m thinking with my brain that corporations don’t always have my interests in mind. That’s why I have physical media and back ups. That’s why I can still play the original WC3 if I choose too.
Also, I don’t understand your hate for WC3R. It’s working just fine for me and looks fantastic. You people are crazy.
Because they did not deliver what they promised. They failed to inform people about cuts to these promises. Even to this day they have Stratholme trailer on their website and it says they’re remaking cutscenes. It wasn’t about purists, it’s an excuse. Even without cutscenes they released it in bad shape only now. With cutscenes you’d have to add a couple months at least. It was cutting costs.
I also have old discs and a copy of 1.29.1. And the thing is, what is good in W3R is also in W3, except classic client had more. When it comes to how W3R looks, it’s a matter of taste. To me it lost its style. When I first saw it (especially new icons) my first thought was: Clash of Clans. So why should I put 30€ towards game that I essentially already own? That in my opinion looks worse.
They should have put as much effort into it as in SC:R. SC:R was brilliant and you can tell it was made by passionate people.

SC:R was made before blizzard started snowballing towards it’s inevitable desmise, sure. but WC3R seems to be a satisfactory game. If you want to play the orignal, it’s still viable for you to do so, so why not just do that?
Viable for how long though? The only legitimate method of obtaining a 1.31 client currently most likely won’t exist in the long term. You can’t say “play the old one you prefer” when they are effectively forcing you to update it (if you are keen on using online features). How is that acceptable?
Because they’re not forcing you to update. I only got the “Hey there’s a new version out” notification once. When I told it no, it never appeared again.
Just back up your 1.31 installation on an external drive. That’s what I did.
As I said, whatever is good in W3R is thanks to W3 and it was developed by Blizzard devs around 20 years ago. What new Blizz did is switch textures and models.
Yeah, I have access to original. It’s because I have backups and discs. What about people with digital version? They don’t and they can only download W3R as of today.

Warcraft III was deleted from my computer when I updated to Reforged. Don’t know any other word to use but “forced” when I did not give them permission or want them to do such a thing. I don’t/didn’t have backups of the latest patch and thank god I found a way to get said backups. As I said, viable for how long? They clearly don’t want people playing the old one.
And if you currently don’t have 1.31 installation? With discs and patches you can only go up to 1.27b as of today. Patches after that download Reforged when you run them. And people with digital copies don’t have discs at all.
