I can't play Warcraft 3 at all because of how Reforged works

Hello !
I have a tiny laptop with only 5 Go of Disk space and use it when i’m on the go.
I had WC3 classic on it two years ago and wanted to replay it but i’m forced to download the Data from Reforged (29 Go)
So now thanks to Reforged I can’t play nor continue to create my map on the editor, that I started to create at a friend place on his PC, that has Reforged.
I’ve tried to install old versions of classic but the editor doesn’t wanna open my map and the wc3.exe just doesn’t work.
Is there a way to fix it or I am just ****ed ?

get pc or another laptop ^^

That’s not a great solution, I was able to play wc3 before but they managed to destroy everything :frowning:

they own a a game and can do any updates they want. So, if you dont like this update you have option not to play this game or find somewhere an old wc3 build

The preservation of games as a medium is a really important discussion that people tend to forget. Then a game like Reforged comes out and the topic is reborn.

You have all the right to be angry at Blizzard. They should’ve only allowed people to transfer their profiles to Reforged instead of just deleting the old game.

And while Warcraft 3 is their intellectual property, there is something to be said about forcing a change(downgrade) in a almost 20 years old game, instead of just having Reforged be its own thing.

And your little laptop should be fine for Warcraft 3, it’s Reforged that has graphics made of plutonium.

The “Buy a better computer” is literally the response given by blizzard to solve this issue. Sorry you had expectations.

Blizzard asks you to invest in a Better PC when they are not even able to give us the reinforced campaign that promised.

You have to go to the piracy brother, there are still classic W3 mods that look better than the Refoged … the map that you surely lost.

PS: I clarify that if blizzard let us install the classic version legally it would be great.

There seriously exist people like this in this world? I call this emergency situation, the world needs to stop to solve this issue. I mean how come, how is it? No way!
And you cant afford external usb hard drive?

that isnt the issue at hand… the original game is still playable. I have multiple copies of WC3 installed on my computer using different patches. I am capable of playing patch 1.26 and patch 1.28 online while still running Reforged on Bnet. I also have mods installed on the older versions to improve the graphics quality

the problem is that OP doesnt want to upgrade their storage capacity (which is very easy to do, you can buy a 64gb MicroSD or USB flashdrive for like $20

its really crazy to think how people can be bothered by 32GB of data, especially if you are invested in creating a custom map to be played online with other people in the WC3 community. If you really care that much about creating a custom map, then spend the extra $20 on the additional storage capacity

$20 MicroSD card = https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-64GB-Extreme-UHS-I-SDSDXXY-064G-GN4IN/dp/B07H9J1YXN/

$10 USB drive = https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Cruzer-Blade-Drive-SDCZ50-064G-B35/dp/B00BX5FOCK/

boom, problem solved

Hey guys, if we’re going to necro this old thread, let us please offer technical solutions to technical problems. It is a known issue for users that after running Reforged World Editor on their PC, afterwards the legacy client editors no longer open (if you have a legacy client backup, etc, from patch 1.31 or below).

The reason the old editor does not open is that it is incompatible with information Reforged writes to the Registry – specifically a key named Tool Windows (as we were informed by a former Reforged dev).
Using the Windows Registry Editor you can delete this “Tool Windows” key and then continue using the old legacy World Editor if you really want to.

Please visit the fan modding sites (such as the Hive Workshop) for more details on this kind of technical problem. Users there are well aware of technical issues like this and may be able to help at times when Blizzard no longer has funding for official support of this game.

Best,

Activision bought Blizzard and King. Go play some Candy Crush Saga. “AREN’T YOU THANKFUL?”
