I can not play W3 even though I have the classic version added to my account - why?

Hey,

I can only ever install the PTR version and play that, however I added my original keys to my bnet a long time ago.

When I choose to download the installer on the website it’s the installer for the PTR client.

Did I miss anything? Are we forced to buy Reforged?

You don’t have to purchase Reforged. Having a RoC key linked to your account is enough to access the Classic mode of the game.

As for the download, where are you downloading from? On the official site, the PTR download has been unavailable for quite a while.

Got the download off my account management.

After I launch it, I get a 2GB download and it’s a PTR client.

On my bnet launcher I only have a “shop” button. I can’t install anything.

  1. In the Bnet launcher, click on the cog wheel and “continue without logging in”
  2. Download and install Reforged
  3. Go back to Bnet launcher and login as usual
  4. You have now successfully avoided being scammed
  5. Download and install W3Champions to have inventory/item hotkeys

This works, now I got a 30GB download size and the directory it wants to install to is no longer named “Warcraft III Public Test”. Thank you man.
