How to play Local Area Network?

So my roommates and I use to play WC3 TFT via LAN all the time. Is there a way to do so now? I don’t see the option on the main screen. When we go offline and create a game, we can’t see each other’s game.

I don’t think LAN is currently possible and I’m not sure they’ll make it possible. There’s a thread with instructions on how you can download WC3/TFT and continue playing offline/LAN, but don’t let it update.

Well that is super disappointing. We played a ton of TDs, RPGs and just regular games. We could do all of that with 1 copy of the game. Thanks, we are gonna go find those links to be able to play together again.

Lan is still available in SCR and I expect same for War3R.

There is an offline button on loading panel.

Try starting the game disconnecting your internet first, and see if you can get it.

Go offline like you did before. Then select Custom Games. The UI will pause while it checks to see if Bonjour is installed (Macs should have it by default). If not, install it and it should let you on to the next step.

I trying it out now, but I have to install on my laptop which may take a while. So far I made into a lobby. So once I get my laptop going, I’ll see if the LAN game works.

Pirate version 1.27.

I never got a message telling me to install Bonjour (whatever that is). Only an empty error box with a yellow exclamation mark…

Where do you even get it? I tried installing Bonjour Print Services but I guess that’s not the right thing. Still can’t create custom games offline.

Are you on a Mac? Or do you play SC Remastered on LAN?

You don’t have to pirate it, Wisp. Just go grab a legit copy.

I don’t have a CD driver.

A digital copy from one of the fan made sites that stores old versions.

So unfortunately. I only own one copy of Classic WC3, so I can’t log in more than once, so I won’t be able to test it. But I did make it to the lobby while offline. So I have to assume that means it was going to be using my LAN for the game. The name of the chat room was “LAN” so that’s a good sign.

I won’t bother and just download from my friend’s cloud.

That works too. Be careful not to connect to Battlenet with it. It may try to update to the Reforged version.

So I booted my game in offline mode on both computers. I create a custom game and call it “LAN Trial”. The other computer however cannot find that map in the search. Also is there a better way to access offline mode other than logging on to your account from another pc? People say there is a button when logging in, but it always just auto logs in when I launch the game.

Is the the same Battlenet account on both computers? Or two different accounts?

Open the game.

Once you’re in the menu screen select options on lower right.

Click on ‘Logout’

Versus should be greyed out and unselectable. Select Custom games. If you do not have bonjour installed, it will prompt to do so. After bonjour has installed, create a game and LAN computers should see that game assuming they also installed bonjour and are on the same network.

You have to rollback to v1.31.1 or earlier for LAN play. There are downloads online of the game files; some links to them were posted on this forum recently.

Replace the newer game folder with the older version and launch the game using “Warcraft III.exe”; if you use the default shortcut that points to the Launcher, it will begin upgrading your install to Reforged and you’ll be boned again.

Not according to post sprinkled around the forums.

Has anyone tried hamachi? Make an account, connect to each other and play any game with lan. Another option is Parsecgaming which lets you play together any game(even games that dont have online mode).

It is the same account. I am the only one with a copy of the game.
