CO-OP is quite successfull in SC2, so i hope theres Official CO-OP game in Warcraft Reforge.
Yes there will be co-op during melee games. It’s called 2v2.
Sorry to dissapoint but I believe it’s something likely they would have to wait for Warcraft 4 to do so.
Likely because of the fact Reforged is working within the limitations of the old game engine.
Co-op campaign (campaign guys not custom games) – would require a new mode to be built.
If the idea is that Warcraft 3 classic players can play with Reforged players I just don’t see this working.
I am not a game designer but I believe it’s unlikely we could see it happening in Reforged.

Starcraft 2 was an entire new game built from the ground up.
Warcraft 3 Reforged is working within the same limitations of the old engine and has to be able to be played in the same matches as Classic TFT players.

And this is also why we won’t be getting new races!

What is the point of those new lore models since Classic will not have them ? Something is a bit odd. What would happen if a custom game is using one of those new models… won’t be able to play with classic players ? Will they also create and add classic version for those new models ? Doubt it.
Those new lore models are specifically for the Reforged campaign and custom maps. Not for multiplayer ladder and such.
So you think custom maps will be split between classic players and reforged playerd ? For real ? This is nonsense because custom games made Warcraft 3 alive for long.
I don’t see any other way they could be done, especially since all the really good custom maps also have custom assets that would look very VERY out of place in Reforged.
“Out of space”, but still playable. That is the most important.
But how the classic client would handle a map with a model which does not exist in classic ? Something is missing. Either they gonna create classic version of those new models with old design, or then the custom game community will be split into both versions and that would be a very bad new.
EDIT: or maybe those new models won’t be usable in editor, and that would be a terrible new.
As an easy example, all those paladins we killed in the opening Scourge missions of RoC did have unique models. Even if the only difference was their beard and hair colours, they did exist as separate entities.
So if I were playing a custom game on Reforged with someone who was playing the custom game on Frozen Throne:
In the game someone would see a hero using Sir Gregory Edmunson two different ways. I would see the balding sword-and-shield paladin. The Frozen Throne player would see a white haired hammer-swinging paladin.
Yes but what concerning new entities ? Like Anasterian Sunstrider ? That’s my point.
Dunno. Hopefully we find out more during the panel today.
I wonder if they might somehow be flagged in the editor. Like the game reads “Oh, Anasterian Sunstrider is a Blood Mage, got it we will translate this entity to a Blood Mage model” for Frozen Throne users.
There is a lack of information concerning this classic/reforged compatibility with new models.
I hope we will get some more informations about it.
co-op is possible within the original engine.
It would require them to CHANGE the CLASSIC GAME to make this new Co-op mode for it.
As they are both supposed to work in tandem, Classic with Reforged.
They have already said making changes to the Classic game is very difficult.
However what you are asking for is perfectly possible for Custom Map creators to make for you.
You would be able to achieve it this way.
There might not even be cross-compatibility on the table anymore.
they could just add co-op in a way that makes it entirely available in reforged but, they could however add the maps in classic for players to play there.
