Hi, I'm the creator of Wintermaul One and this my opinion

Hello everybody, as I already indicated in the title, I am the creator of wintermaul one revolution, one of the most played maps lately, specially when I was ENT.

I have been playing the game and testing the World Editor, there are still many improvements that have not arrived and are necessary in this plenary 2020.

I was very disappointed with the way this remastering started, because, like many players, I had a lot of hype, especially developing the new improvements for Wintermaul.

Right now I am disappointed, not only because I see that there will not be people who can enjoy my game like in the past, but also because of the unclear policies of the EULA, which have not been pronounced either.

I’m waiting to update the map to see how everything evolves in these months… not only the game, too the players because I don’t know if my effort will be worth.

You can keep playing the old map and see the new ones on the website:

wintermaul.one

PS: I’m not going to abandon the project, but I’m thinking to release the new updates on the classic warcraft 3 and continue the work there.

Thank you.

Stop updating the map if you don’t like the EULA changes. Someone else will take over and do better.

Are you serious? Nope, this is low level trolling.

@SHA1: Thank you for your work. A big Thank You for any map maker and modder. Your work is wonderful and you kept this game alive.

SHA1 your map is what introduced me to map editing in War3  many many years ago back in like 2006, I had taken my favorite version of your map and modified it quite a lot to my liking, and I was able to get many people to play and enjoy it with me  I really miss that map wish I still had it, but thank you for making wintermaul!

Can’t wait for you to quit in two days and then we don’t have committed custom game designers because you felt the need to give your worthless pithy 2 cents.

@ Gawdzly
I have been working on the project for years, I am not here for money, my reward is just that there are a lot of players in reforged enjoying the map and I’m seeing maybe a lot of ppl will leave reforged or never going to join , so maybe I decide to return to the classic.

Its not nice be so toxic

Hi SHA1!
I know how you feel, coming back to map making after 16 years, I was expecting much more from the “new” world editor.
Except a few things that I actually do appreciate, I found many new bugs that I had to tear my hair out to be able to fix or get around. I was hoping these would get sorted with the release, but they weren’t, so we’re back to square one now.
It is disappointing to see how much potential was wasted to bring new exiting features in the world editor itself, and so many more Jass primitives could have been easily added to give map makers more flexibility and an easier life while being able to make much more optimized maps !

Anyways, just like you I won’t give up, but I still have hopes as there are many improvements that won’t require Blizzard to change anything to the game itself.

By the way, your map is the first one I have tested when I returned to wc3 very recently, and I found it really nice. Lots of features, efficient balance, great gameplay overall, keep the good work !!

Please tell us your final decision. I am in a similar debate.
Although of course my map will be bad on both sides XD

And you’re living in fantasy land if you think there are people lining up to revise classic content by investing countless hours of their time when Blizzard can outright steal it from them if it turns out to be really, really good.

For what it’s worth, I absolutely love Wintermaul One. I wish WC3:R would have turned out better to breath new life into Wintermaul, but alas.

Looks like this one is so indoctrinated by Blizzard that he emulates their behavior.

Fascinating yet predictable specimens, these drones, no matter how much human potential they had before becoming one.

The editor improvements are what I’m most disappointed in over everything, the editor is what will keep this game alive for years to come, well after people have grown bored of melee and everyone has finished the campaign.
They promised a lot and I’ve yet to see many changes outside of things like adding in support for the new skins they’re going to sell.
(I still am waiting on the increased unit selection limit constant and the art tools they said they were going to release.)

The lack of enhancements to editor was a huge disappointment for me as well. I was hoping for a lot more user friendly GUI additions to modify ingame UI and much more support for making third-person / first-person games (which naturally should have been a big priority because of the up-close zoomed in graphics overhaul). It was a step backwards from the sc2 editor (which i realized used a different engine but had basically the same trigger editor with more built in features). Damn shame

Unfortunately there is nothing unclear about the EULA. It clearly spells out that you will own absolutely zero copyright to anything that you create. If you are fine with that, and sure that you will remain fine with that, then I guess there isn’t an issue.

“one of the most played maps recently”

Is this necessary?

I personally don’t feel it was.
