Here is why wc3 community is so toxic

When blizzard closed ports on their server (bots was removed by them)
Besides from giving us feature like ranks and protection from cheaters, it was also a powerful tool to deal with flamers, trolls and gameruiners.
Back then the comminty did’t mind enforce the rules, like bans and kicking.

When they removed this option there is no way to enforce rules, giving free pass to trolls, flamer and gameruiners alike.

Alltrough most people don’t mind ‘‘noobs’’ as long as they don’t flame, troll or gamruin it is totaly fine.
But try to understand that all so called ‘‘hardcore pros’’ is just trying to have a good game and is just trying to protect what little they have left.

If you wanna blame anyone it’s blizzard to blame. That is a fact and not a discussion.

That being said, here is a few tips to deal with the situation.

If you join a custom game that your not familiar with, ask what the kind of game mod it is. Tell lobby that you are new but willing to learn. Listen to experience players. Ask if someone can teach you on the way.

If you notice people who flame, troll or gameruin you unfortally need to remeber thier battletag so you can ban them from joining future games.

am truely sorry for the hole situation. Since blizzard don’t care this is the only way we can deal with it.

Most people who had bots in custom games used ut to kick players from tiniest reasons for example not picking the right builder in tower defence. Its just no fun and takes time to recover that and people come back.

na na, don’t give me that bs talk.
That ‘‘downside’’ is insignificant comperred to it upsides of having bots.

Firstly, you can always host a game your self and you don’t need to play on bots if you don’t want to. Second, those ‘‘bad’’ bots your talking about bots like ENT and MakeMeHost, who people sometimes abused, are NOT most people. Stop lie to justify your opinion.
The community bots did’t have this problem, hell we had better support then blizz has, in reagarding of fair gameplay, bans, kicks, admins, ban appeals, cheat prevention, ectect,

Thirdly, there is no recover from this. You appear to be under the delusion that bots was the reason people have’t come back. People left because they removed bots. That is a fact. If we would give out a survey, we both know what am saying would be overwhelmingly supported. Period.
The only diffrence is that i could choose on what to play on. Giving players the option to choose to. Just because people had some problem with some bots does’t give blizzard the right to FORCE this on us. by this i mean, trolls flamers gameruiners, no stats ectect

Things will not get better until we get those bots back.

If you still don’t get it, let’s think on a scenario, were blizzard give us a ‘‘legacy option’’ to have everything back as it was.
You and i both know people will choose the old option.
But i don’t deny there are more people who think like you, the diffence is that i don’t force you to play on bots. But people with your option are like 1-3% of the community, the rest would have it as it was before.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

I’m so tired of these idiots there won’t let me just play the game they just join the games that i’m in to tk and troll and prevents me from playing the game like Aran and deathbringer so if you see them bann them from your games.

I hear and feel ya brother

So you’ve played with them or against them aswell?

Luckily no, unfortally they are not the only people who act like this. I can however symptize with what your feeling

Well they often play Lordaeron The foremath and Lordaeron The aftermath so if you ever feel like showing them some carma they’ll be found within those games. Like Aran knows that i likes to practise as The Silverhand so he likes to steal that spot from me.

So bad is the community? in my case the problems come more from disconnecting more than trolling. And they disconnected almost always.

That is why I ended up stopping playing.
I mean, the maps that I like cannot be played alone.
And the ones that can be played alone still won’t let us. -.-

Only do you know what the real problem is now?
That me, you and other people remember the bots from the golden days, when you had several hosting bots and the bot admins were mostly people with working brains.
Instead, when the good old people left the game for any reason, all the scumbags gained the power they never had before, establishing this “if you don’t like to be flamed just gtfo” climate (and Wilzer is right on this).
And that’s why people hate bots now.
Now we are back to paper banlists… an almost 20 years jump back… great…

And now I remember also how it was to try play dota… The bot instan ban any player from all dota servers if he tried to download the game. So much fun!

Not your fault if you started to play Dota after 2010… but it has not always been like that. When the “meta” of Dota is the “threelaning” you cannot take this game seriously anymore…

I played dota in 2005 first time but i play it very rarely. If you didnt dl most recent version from dota site you was always kicked and mb banned. What I mean is its no fun at all for custom gamer. There was never dota games for casuals…
Then these auto host games take always all attention so own games never got players. Its just a mess u dont know how ti fix but without bot uts better and no empty lobbies.

Problem is, imagine you have a Basketball game in which there are 9 people who know how to play and 1 that doesn’t even know that you have to throw the ball in the ring or that you have to bounce the ball on the ground. Would it be fun for the 9 people to spend 30 minutes watching someone running out of field with the ball and launching it here and there? no.
Would it be even better if when asking to join the game such person would start to insult you? no.
I personally always let people download the map, because getting it from warcenter was sometimes a mess for some people. Then I asked “first time dota?”. If the answer was “yes” and we weren’t trying to get some new people I would have said “ok, so, get a bit of training in another game and feel free to come back whenever you want”.
There was plenty of “Dota 2.x for noobs” games hosted back then.
Where the situation becomes evil is when they joined the game and say “let me dl u @’‘453’:6{}]#”.
That’s why we started to apply the kick at 99^^ (one of the funniest thing ever, especially when they even get back again for dl^^)

Anyway, since you understand the problem of AT vs RT, you can understand why dota can’t be a casual game when just 1 person pretends to join a normal game (not even pro). It applies to team games in general…

This was 2005-2010. Now it’s just a mess of wannabes…

sucking less as an ally may stop them from being toxic

alright, so your opinion should force how most of us want to play wc3?
Can you understand how insulting and provoking that would be for most people?
Again, noone force you to play on bots. you can choose not to.

I was an advocate of removing bots and installing official dedicated servers through the main lobby so we didn’t have to use our browser to host games and whatnot.

Back in the days Blizzard removed bots, and the ENT communities massive backlash to this happening with no warnings. i understood their reasoning even though i thought the outrage was a little too extreme then it needed to have been.

The Classic Team initially, apparently planned to support bots, however it was scrapped. What i assumed the dedicated servers would do is provide everything the bots did, instead it would be official.

That didn’t happen, and one of the simplest harms i personally got was bad ping. my ping was 90-130 in the ENTbot days and ever since Reforged i can’t get sub 350 Ping.

I curse Blizzard for not letting the Classic Team to deliver us a wholesome game. if all the features and functionalities of base war3s online features were added and improved and the bots were allowed to thrive or better yet, all their features were also added on top. this game would have been a sight to behold.

What you just said was very brave.

To walk the line beetween truth, right or wrong is a very foolish thing to do.
that is why it’s brave.

Like you, i do see the bad and good things that comes with bots and the moment we stop talking about pros and cons, is the moment we lose our selfsh to fear.

That being said, i would like to say that ignoring the disadvantages that comes with bots is equal to ignoring it’s benefits. There are no absoluts. But i faith that we can find comon ground if we do not allow our own needs to be accomplished by ignoring the other. visa versa.
