Expecting Blizzard to go back to their original lore after they’ve already changed it and people got accustomed to it is a bit much, dude.
Just ask them for a classic skins pack. Hell even I think that’d be cool.

Here I was more disappointed in Arthur Burghardt not reprising the role. Not that Kevin Michael Richardson did a bad job or anything.
Then would you care to explain to me why they painstakingly separated books by titles under “Warcraft” and “World or Warcraft”? Because that makes no sense to me why they’d rebrand the books despite being the exact same canon.
I go back to my Warhammer point from another thread. You can have similar universes and different canon’s in each. Star Wars does it, Warhammer does it, heck even Lord of the Rings does it.
Except there are separate Canons. Even before WoW there were. Wc2’s lore does not mesh with Wc1 or Wc3’s. Even WoW’s expansions don’t mesh with each other. You can say that only the current one is ‘canon’, but then that wouldn’t make sense for people playing older content, because now they’re no longer playing a ‘Warcraft’ game. Each series has it’s own content, which is a canon-unto itself until it’s remade and ‘brought up to speed,’ because you don’t get partial canon’s, so if you throw out the entire expansion, then nothing can reference it without causing issues.
Some people, who don’t play the genre that is currently being Reforged.
Except that is not what the word “canon” means.
The canon is defined by the author/rights holder (Blizzard) and they have very strictly defined what is and isn’t canon.
h_ttps://wow.gamepedia.com/Lore#Non-canon
That is an accurate compilation what what falls outside the Warcraft canon.
Warcraft 1 and 2 had diverging campaigns with alternate stories told but both are officially included in the blizzard-defined Warcraft canon. But books such as the Last Guardian and Tides of Darkness help clarify which of the events from those games truly unfold.
Yes that may sound contradictory but Blizzard is what decides what counts and doesn’t count.
Everything except the things blizzard explicitly says isn’t canon, is part of the same Warcraft universe canon. (Much to my dismay this for some reason still includes Mad’an, the single worst entity in the entire history of the franchise.)
And the WoW expansions form a single story, so they do mesh.
It’s a weird and confusing story, not very well told, but it is one story.
I wish I could believe your version of how the Warcraft lore works, but I don’t because I know what words mean.
Edit: Apparently the film is also considered Canon in the same way the WoD universe is. So in theory if Blizzard wanted, they could connect the MU to the filmU via way of bronze dragon shenanigans just like how the WoD AU and the MU intersect.
Oh man, what if the Warcraft3 reforged is set in the alternate universe of the iron horde going to azeroth. I wouldn’t like that at all.
That is already impossible as Grom has green skin. Don’t worry. Green Grom is our Grom.
Yeah, I love world of Warcraft but I hated warlords of dranor. The whole idea of traveling back in time yet that time wouldn’t effect our time unless the iron horde invaded us was soooo dumb
The same people Blizzard’s trying to appeal to.
WoW players outnumber WC3 players and Blizzard wants that market because of the brand.
I don’t know. Marketing? Recognition? They aren’t separate universes though.
Okay but Warcraft doesn’t. It’s all tied together with few exceptions.
There’s one separate canon and it’s the movie timeline.
But that’s exactly how it works. The old stuff is brought back up (whether it’s a novelization or a visit to the old lore in the MMO or even something like the Chronicle books or even Reforged) because of its age or potential relevance to the next narrative arc in the Warcraft series.
I prefer this version of Grom instead of ex rockstar wanna be after 10 rehabs thin Grom model.
He looks menacing, dangerous, the only problem i have with him is the auto attack swing animation, nothing else and i hope they will leave it at that.
Don’t care if they change his tattoo or not, because im fine with both and i won’t even see this little ‘‘detail’’ in game when i actually play the game.
I was there mostly on subreddits or mmochampion too during wod and it was split 50/50, so it’s not majority.
And even then when you combine two groups it’s the minority when it comes to the whole playerbase that actually talk about or care about it that much.
Maybe it was majority for you because you only check the threads that are to your liking and against it, but there wasn’t a majority on any side.
I liked his model in WoD, especially in the cutscenes and i prefer bulky build for orcs.
Better start asking for ‘‘classic’’ skins so both groups will be pleased or just go back to old warcraft graphics when you’re playing his campaign.
Wasn’t warlords of draenor an alternate reality considering garrosh’s father had a black jaw and the portal lead to a grom with a different tattoo?
I guess grom’s jaw tattoo proves that reforged takes place in an alternate reality where WoW isn’t certain.
It was a really weird thing of being an alternate universe that was more or less following in the same historical footsteps as the main universe even before Garrosh showed up.
Give or take a couple differences like Ner’zhul’s wife still being alive, yeah.
I wonder how they haven’t taken the hint yet that every single thing within WoD was a mistake.
Sometimes I get really mad thinking about the tattoo thing.
1: It’s not better
2: the old one didn’t make political statements or was offensive
3: three lil chin strips that nobody notices
4: the old one DEFINED his character. It was an extension of him. I see the new grom as trapped in this big muscular body. It will never be him. Change him back to be slender with the black jaw, otherwise it’s not grom, never will be grom, and the character is lesser for it
BUT THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT HE IS.
Old grom = heath ledger joker
New grom = jared leto joker
I don’t even feel right calling him new grom, because he’s not grom, just some beefcake.
It is grom and if thinking about a little tattoo in an RTS game on character model makes you so mad then i would suggest to you to get some fresh air.
It fits him more than what he represented in W3 vanilla bodywise in my opinion, his model there was one of the worst when it comes to making any specific feelings when you looked at him, especially the red version that made him look little a potato.
And yeah, it is grom, but a little different looking one and i personally prefer it that way and it defines him better in my eyes than before.
It defined his look in WoD better(not storywise) and like they said year ago there will be some changes, one group might not like it, the other will like it but you can always go back to the original version of the game if somehow this change of his model makes you think lesser about his character.
Slim orcs are boring, hell make him even more bigger and sorry bro i never liked joker either, in my opinion it’s overrated persona in this other universe, maybe besides the latest movie.
It’s not, full stop.
You can tell if he has the tattoo or not whether or not it’s grom. Simple.
Check the original mannoroth cinematic. Seeing him look up while kneeled, with those red eyes and black jaw, it’s not going to even compare to if he has little chin stripes from the county fair.
You are too funny, bro i don’t even know if you’re just trolling or not.
I don’t care about his tattoo, i care about how overall his model looks like from upside down and i like it.
Like i said it is still Grom, retconned like they said there will be some changes and like i saw him in WoD or many arstyles i enjoy it that way.
You are so mad because i enjoy how his model looks like?
I don’t care about what you enjoy, I’m stating facts.
Whether you like it or not, it’s not grom if he doesn’t have it.
If you like the new grom, you like a different character, sorry for the bad news.
