FPS stutter

I have been have this issue for years now and it doesn’t go away. In 2019 I bought a new laptop and since then I have always had a FPS stutter. So basically I am playing the game normally but every few minutes the game would freeze, fps would drop to like 10 and then go back to normal. That’s a freeze of like 1 or 2 seconds. I never had this issue on my old laptops and PCs and I got no idea why this is happening.

I reinstalled the game but it doesn’t help. I tried some commands, changing cores that run the game, nothing helps. I am running i5-7300 HQ and GTX 1050. I played on my old laptop until 2019 without any issues (I bought it in 2009)

There is a patch on the Public Test Realm that fixes this problem for many users. It will go live a week from tomorrow. But feel free to install the test realm and see if it does solve the problem for you.

But if you’re still using a 6+ year old PC, changing that will also help.

But I have been having this issue since 2019 when I first got the laptop. So it’s been 6 years now, no patch fixed it. My old laptop had way worse specs, but I never had this issue. So the issue must be something connected to Bios, the way the cores run the game or some software - related issue. I tried running an older version of the game , like 2010 , and the game ran without issues

Well a 6 year old laptop is not going to be the greatest thing to run the game on in the first place. Yes, we all know pre-reforged versions ran better, but that’s rather beside the point. New version has new requirements, soo, if you are close to them or below them, you’re not going to be able to expect it to run well, regardless of how well any older version worked. If you are only interested in the campaign feel free to go download an old version of the game off the internet somewhere and play that. You won’t be able to go online with it though.

You won’t find any fixes in your BIOS, other than maybe overclocking your system. Becuase that really doesn’t have anything to do with it. They made extensive changes to the game and it uses newer and more demanding tech. Because it’s a “remaster.” you know, its updated for the modern age, so it requires more modern hardware than it did back when you played it “without issues.”

But if you haven’t checked the PTR yet, you should probably do that. You know, just to rule it out.

I run the game max details, 180 FPS, then it drops to 15 fps for 2 secs and then it bounces back. Obviously the hardware is more than enough. The game has glitches that cause this. I run way more demanding games than WC3 and I don’t experience this issue

Does it feel any better on the PTR?

What is PTR?

It’s the test version where they let people check out upcoming updates to get feedback. Above the Play button it says “game version” click on that and select “public test realm.”
