First time playing Warcraft!

This Black Friday arrived I had some tokens left in wow and I decided to try out warcraft for the first time.

I don’t know what to expect from the game, I know that at the time I was a big fan of games like age of mythology, age of empires etc, but, I had never played warcraft, I saw it many times inlan houses but the first time I tried it I was still very young and I didn’t understand a thing about what was happening on the screen, thousands of devilish creatures destroying my city too fast too chaotic.

I know that when playing wow I was often lost in the story, then I realized that because I hadn’t played warcraft I didn’t understand the lore of wow.

I hope it’s a good gaming experience.

Must be nice playing it and not having it insta-crash on startup.

Well I have a few bits of advice

The campaign in Reforged mode has some issues. They plan to fix this (albeit not in a great way, by reverting improvements previously made)) in the next patch but until then here’s some advice to avoid many of them:

  1. Try to complete missions in one shot, rather than saving in the middle
  2. The game will create lots of checkpoint saves, delete them after completing the mission as too many saves can cause crashes
  3. Do not use the “reduce mouse lag” setting unless you have a severe problem, as this will substantially penalize your FPS.

Welcome to WC3! I wonder what graphics settings you prefer. Some say WC3 graphics is outdated, but to me, they never looked bad. But again, feel free to check out and find out for yourself.

There are really cool custom campaigns, too, such as the Rise of the Blood Elves or the Curse of the Forsaken by tomoraider, they apparently work in Reforged.

Also, there are a billion custom maps for multiplayer, feel free to check out Lordaeron the Foremath for a huge lore fight reenacting the events of all of Warcraft. There’s even a WoW Arena map, want to try it myself.

As to the multiplayer… just play night elf and make units, lol. This isn’t SC1, the level of play can be surprisingly low on Battle.net, especially on the weekends.
