why would they nerf stomp and clap
first fix the game then we can speak about balance…
Stomp definitely needs a nerf. There should not be a skill being able to perma stun an entire army. In too many games we have seen a TC’s single stomp ends the game for the other player. Stomp also overwhelmingly affects Orc v.s. Undead, the most favorable matchup between any two races.
A bunch of level 6 ultimate skills really need a re-work. Alchemist’s transmute should have a cooldown at least 90 seconds. Shadow Hunter, Farseer, Potm, Death Knight, and Lich need a buff on their ultimates.
As always EternalShade wants to speculate :))) I don’t think Blizzard can fix other more important issues promptly. That’s why getting balance patch this summer is something optimistic to expect.
Some thoughts from UD’s perspective:
There is no need to nerf TC’s stomp. At most you can increase its cooldown from 6 to 7 seconds. TC has lots of counters: HU have MK’s bolt and UD can go with DR’s silence. If TC is a 3rd hero, it takes him time to get to level 3 and army disable is what this hero is all about.
If you want to balance UD vs ORC match up. I would rather slightly modify how does the orb work. Firstly, you can make it have no effect on destroyers and other magic immune units (dryads and breakers). Secondly, you can make orb of lightning to do not proc on mechanical units such as statues. That will alleviate UD’s life a bit, while still making BM to be a relevant hero to use.
I don’t think we should destroy the current UD’s meta build.
But, I’d love to see more ghoul openings on the pro-scene as alternative to fiend opening. I feel like ghouls lack just a little bit in order to be used in non-mirror match ups.
Ghoul. Add +10 hp (raise from 340 to 350). It will be a very similar upgrade that archers got in patch 1.30. Compensate the buff if needed. For example: reduce 35% ghoul frenzy at T3 to 30%.
This < 3% hp increase will not the tilt the balance on the pro-level and will be welcomed by beginner players, who tend to lose these units because of a weaker micro control.
Gargoyle. Make gargoyles priorities air targets over ground targets in range 1000.
Destroyer. Could be slightly buffed by increasing the speed of the casting time of their dispel.
Acolyte. Reduce acolyte’s regeneration on blight from 4hp to 3hp per second.
UD tech tree rework that was talked about like 6 months ago.
Firelord rework. (This was announced by Ryan, Blizzard employee before Reforged release. They did not do it because they lie to us and don’t care.)
Buff to Ghouls: +20 HP, +2 armor. Add upgrade for +40 HP on t2 so they are a real unit and no longer walking exp tome.
Gargoyle AI finally fixed just like blizzard promised it would be in Reforged. (of course they did not fix it because they don’t care about this game and lie to our face)
Buffs to Crypt lord beetles. Changes to his carapace to have this ability be more than a Ring +3. Fix impale so it no longer turns airborne units invulnerable and detract 1 second of stun duration.
A real Necromancer rework that turns them into viable units: Cripple first, then Raise Skeletons, add abolish magic ability to skeleton mage, keep Unholy Frenzy on master tier, reduce damage per second from 3 to 2.
Buff cripple to a better version of what we had in last rework. It was almost a good spell, needed number tweaks, less mana cost. More slow, not “howl of terror on one unit”.
Move statues to Temple of the Dammned.
Increase HP and movement speed of meat wagons, worst siege unit in the game. Make it benefit from armor upgrades just like Orc demolishers, which by the way have way more hitpoints for some reason and also deal much higher damage (also increased by Kodo aura).
Boneyard no longer requires sacrificial pit. Boneyard build time and Frost Wyrm train time reduced. Frost Wyrm attack range increased. Reduce Frost Wyrm stats, cost, supply cost, train time to a 5 supply unit instead of 6 or 7, so its less of a huge investment. Increase armor so it no longer gets blown up by Batriders or focused down by piercing damage.
Nerf Tanks, remove fortified armor or add an upgrade that gives them fortified armor, but needs 200 lumber investment so players have to invest more time and ressources into them.
Give Death Knight a real ultimate, Animate Dead is useless trash ultimate that no one needs and uses.
Nerf Clap and Stomp. Nerf Transmute. Why would you ever buff this spell, terrible decision Matt Morris!
I would like also a nerf all speed auras, and rework DK aura: would be nice if it gives just negative armor to enemy units (opposite of human paladin)
Yeah, speed auras seem a little too good.
Warden/Fan of knives also gets out of control at high levels.
1st thing that needs to be fixxed, is the removal of AT vs. RT. Then I will play this game again.
Honestly one of the worst Ultimate abilities in the game is Reanimate alongside with Stampede. They need reworks.
