Clarity. Heroes are more emphasized by sheer size alone as well as their higher level of detail and having pretty unique designs. Not to mention the blatantly obvious glow beneath them. Skins/alternates have to be careful in maintaining key features of the original hero their based on and the example of a female Death Knight does it pretty well.
Starcraft 2 it doesn’t bother me because individual units get lost in the masses anyways while the assets also aren’t as detailed as Reforged.
For Reforged, the farthest I would ever want them to go would be: Hero skins, town hall skins, and maybe altars and workers. Even then, those last two are ‘ehhh’ for me. Even hypothetically.
