Fair question: When is the patch that restores the disabled features?

Currently missing from the game or explicitly disabled with a tooltip stating it will return, which existed before (reforged rants aside):
-Competitive play
-Clans

  • Custom game save loading
  • Parties being compatible with custom games

When are you going to patch in these features which are explicitly stated to be returning? After the first week ya’ll blizzard peoples have gone mostly silent.

No idea when the patch will be released, but I can hazard a guess by looking at Starcraft: Remastered which was handled by the same team. Remastered launched on August 14, 2017, and the ladder started with patch 1.22.0, which launched on the July 24, 2018. That’s just under a year.

Now the hope obviously is that this patch releases sooner than that, but worst case scenario, we’re looking at a year long wait.

Do you know if they released SCR with a timeline or that came later? Like did they go into beta saying “ladder will be patched in later” or was it a remaster and they just decided to add ladder later?

That’s what they actually stated they were doing with Remastered. The game was launching without ladder support, which would be added back to the game in the first content patch.

Are you sure about those dates? I googled the November date you gave me and the patch notes for that day for Starcraft don’t mention ladder at all.

The dates are right, just it seems like ladder came out in August with the game. Can you find me the patch?

There’s a ladder update here though but it’s a year later.

Patch 1.22.0

This. The SC Remastered ladder didn’t come until an entire YEAR after release. I wouldn’t expect anything soon with ladder, because they’re going to have to add UI components and graphics to the game. What a load of poop!

Hmm… okay, I may have had the release dates for my patches wrong. The website I was looking at, which was liquipedia, has its patch information structured strangely.

Seems I was wrong, and I’ll gladly own up to that. I’ll edit my posts accordingly. Apparently the 1v1 ladder and the ranking system was added in a content patch though, but that was Patch 1.22.0

It seems like ladder came out with the release, then a year later it got a big update. Though I could be wrong, the way it’s worded seems kinda weird.

“Remastered Features
Matchmaking will pit you against players of a similar race-based skill rating – globally
Establish dominance against your friends and eventually the world on the 1v1 Ladder Leaderboards”

Does that mean now or later?

I know that Blizzard stated that the ladder and clan support was coming with the first major content patch of Reforged. That’s a certainty (unless they have to delay it of course, which is possible). But I have no idea when that patch is going to launch. Hopefully sooner, rather than later, but worst case scenario it will be a year long wait.

Apparently they completely redesigned the ladder for Starcraft: Remastered. If they’re going to use a similar system for Reforged it shouldn’t take them as long to implement it in Reforged, but, we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

Yeah I know what they said too. I’m just trying to figure out what happened with SCR. So it seems like a year after release they got a huge complete redesign, but I’m trying to figure out what it released with. It seems like an MMR system, but like, was it a working MMR system or was it WC3 Reforged MMR system?

Judging by the patch notes, between the release and the ladder system, there is multiple mentions of fixing the ladder

e.g. “/help now works as expected with all Battle.net chat frames including Create, Join, game lobbies, Ranked, and the Ladder scoreboard.”

so it had to have some sort of basic tier ladder board, maybe not their redesign, but I’m guessing it was something at least players could climb. Probably something like MMR +/- points, highest total top of ladder. I mean it could have also just been the same ladder they’d always been using for BW.

I wish I knew exactly, but sadly I don’t play Remastered. It’s on the ‘to buy’ list, since I actually enjoyed the campaign for Starcraft and Brood War, but I have trouble playing the classic games on my current rig.

Looks like they launched with a basic MMR system and the Ladder Seasons, which put players into leagues and they could compete against each other for season specific rewards. There wasn’t a ranking system in place at the time outside of the MMR system. Then they redesigned everything for Patch 1.22.

That seems to be what they had, judging from posted date. So yeah, a pretty basic ladder where you win/loss points. Which tbf, is better than what WC3 Reforged has atm.

So an MMR based leaderboard system. Sounds about right.

Yeah and then it got its big redo a year later. Not sure why we couldn’t just have something like that in the meantime till they release the true ladder later.

Re: all the other crap ppl are talking about:

I am only referring to features --specirfically disabled in the current version of the game-- which are --explicitly stated WITHIN THE GAME to be returning in an update.

I’m not here about all the other crap everyone’s complaining about, as there’s plenty of other threads for that. Becuase this stuff is specifically stated IN THE GAME VIA TOOLTIPS to be returning, I expect that these specific things return sooner rather than later.

No one is talking about other crap? You asked when competitive play would be returning, we discussed when SCR got competitive play back, another remaster done by some of the people who also did WC3R, as reference.

U r sooooooo wrong bro

SC:remaster was released with full features available @ classic SC. New ladder, redesigned, as more like SC2 ladder, has come about a year after release of SC:remaster

Which is something we figured out later, and they corrected themselves, don’t be antagonistic for no reason.

That said, WC3 Reforged should have launched with the same.
