today when i opened warcraft 3 it said i needed to download the new “B build”? i should have read it more clearly but anyone else get this and know what it is?
Unless you’ve played in the last couple weeks, it’s the “break the mac version” update. I don’t see any updates atm and the notice about the mac issue is still there.
On the PC side, the update seems to have brought with it some performance improvement but little if anything else.
afaik this is only showing on the PTR, switch back to the normal version and you’re good
this is crazy. if it is really true, then deploying the fix shouldn’t take so long…
What the OP hasn’t come back to clarify is which realm they tried to log into.
The message they saw has been showing on the PTR for a couple weeks. It even said that when 2.0 was on the CDN.
So it’s likely the OP didn’t realize they had the PTR selected when they tried to log in.
Mental-Quake:
They are going to implement an Arcade system similar to Starcraft 2 but this will cause them to control the maps and become total authorship of Blizzard, being them who give you permission or not to modify them in the editor or even to have them, as happens in Starcraft, you have to log in to download the map within the editor if it is and if it lets you, because even if you have downloaded it through the Arcade or a custom campaign, it does not let you modify it or do something else in the editor, this is approved for future strategy games, not from Blizzard but from Microsoft, using Blizzard’s strategy game system. It’s an update that will conflict with community developed maps and mods, making them incompatible and Blizzard has already seen that people are interested in them, so they will seek to develop their own campaigns like Age of Empires or Age of Mythology. The problem is that they won’t be of the same quality as the community and if Blizzard can’t monetize the community maps then at least it’s convenient for Blizzard that they don’t get in the way and take away profitability. This system is the one that has been seen in Starcraft 2, Age of Mythology, Doom 1, or even Bethesda games with the Creation Kit, the problem is that it will take away the total freedom that everyone is used to with Warcraft 3 and replace it with a control system like with Starcraft. This is to implement future microtransactions, whether cosmetics, accessories or interfaces. The problem with this is that it will conflict with every mod and map ever created for Warcraft 3, especially old and current maps from the Epicware hive workshop page. In order to have full control over fan and community creations, they don’t seek to improve, they only seek to obtain more benefits and profitability, and if they can’t get them at least eliminate the competition so that it doesn’t get in the way of their goals, even if that obstacle is doing a better job than Blizzard.
and your basis for saying this is?
I think that my basis for say is:
Let’s make a conspiracy theory, just like Mephis, lord of love:
The system that they are going to implement is an Arcade system similar to Starcraft 2, changing the system of Custom Games for both single player and multiplayer into one, just like with the system of normal multiplayer games and tournament implementation, as happens with Starcraft that is much more orderly and not as separate or bureaucratized as it is currently in the current game, but this will cause them to control the maps and become the total authorship of Blizzard, being them who give you permission or not to modify them in the editor or even to have them, as happens in Starcraft, you have to log in to download the map within the editor if it is there and if it lets you, because even if you have downloaded it through the Arcade or a custom campaign, it does not let you modify it or do anything else in the editor, this is approved for future strategy games, not from Blizzard but from Microsoft, that use the Blizzard strategy game system, be it Warcraft IV, be it Whether it’s Starcraft 3, whether it’s Age of Empires V, whether it’s whatever strategy game, Blizzard knows how to make strategy games, and Microsoft knows how to make strategy games too, it’s not unreasonable for both of them to use each other’s technologies to create a much stronger product and service from a business point of view. It’s an update that will conflict with the maps and mods developed by the community, making them incompatible, and Blizzard has already seen that people are interested in both custom campaigns and modifications, whether it’s Lord of the Clans HD, whether it’s Warcraft 2 Tide of Darkness, whether it’s Warcraft 3 Re-Reforged, whatever the campaign is, so they’ll look to develop their own campaigns like Age of Empires or Age of Mythology or Age of Empires 3 or whatever, to capitalize on the opportunity monetarily.
The problem is that they won’t be of the same quality as the community’s, and much less will they be free, since the work of the community is a thousand times superior and with much more passion than any mediocre and low-resource garbage that Blizzard does, because they are guided by the principle of minimum effort and charging a lot for them, like with Rockstargames and if Blizzard can’t monetize the community maps much less their campaigns, then at least it suits Blizzard that they don’t get in the way and take away profitability, censoring them or preventing them from being played, preferring before looking for BLizzard’s ones at the price they decide to set. This system is what we’ve seen in Starcraft 2, Age of Mythology, Doom 1 for custom games, or even Bethesda games with the Creation Kit for mods, the problem is that it will take away the total freedom that everyone is used to with Warcraft 3 of being able to own the map, being able to access the map, being able to modify the map, and creating whatever you want on the map, and that this map will slowly become a better made campaign than Blizzard’s, and will replace it with a total and bureaucratic control system like with Starcraft.
This is also to implement future microtransactions within the game, be it cosmetics like skins for factions or buildings or units or more custom heroes, accessories or menu interfaces, just like with Starcraft II. The problem with this is that it will conflict with every mod and map ever created for Warcraft 3, especially old and current maps from both Epicware’s Workshop page and hive’s hiveworkshop. In order to have full control over fan and community creations, they don’t seek to improve, they only seek to obtain more benefits and profitability, and if they can’t get them by good means, alluding that this is to offer greater transparency and security in their services for their users, they do it by bad means, at least eliminating the competition so that it doesn’t get in the way of their lucrative objectives, and they don’t become an obstacle, even if that obstacle is doing a better job than Blizzard.
And we have already seen that the community has much more affection for the game than Blizzard has for it.
The mod " Age of Warcraft " in the video “Demo Release Trailer” is going to disappear.

perhaps not spamming this everywhere would be cool
I just got this today also. Quit & re-launched and the error went away. I don’t have PTR installed, so it was on live.
