Doodads causing stalling. 2.0.1.22498

5950X and 7900 GRE on latest W10, 24.12.1 drivers. The game is paused on the game menu. This is with SD graphics.

This has been an issue since WC3 started being updated again before Reforged for my friend, now we both have it since the last update. Triggers and anything else was already ruled out as the cause by trying to figure out where it was coming from. The test map is nothing but trees on a 160x160 that are well off screen. It has always been this 3 second interval stall.

He’s had a 2700X with a RX 480, now 5950X with a 7900 XT.

Since the recent 2.0 patch all maps are stuttering! I’ve been trying to fix the stuttering for my coop maps but seems only Blizzard can fix it. Maybe it’s doodads or maybe it’s memory leaks which still haven’t been fixed.

Yeah. Unfortunately it seems to be entirely in Blizzard’s hands at this point. Something broke in the rendering somewhere as far as I’m concerned. I don’t have reforged to test HD mode either. I wouldn’t call it a leak because it’s there from the start. The graphs were ~10 seconds after getting into the map and I don’t think it really got any worse in our games.

If anyone wants to try testing anything further this was just with CapFrameX and the game menu open to pause it. WC3’s FPS display is a rolling average and not very useful. It won’t tell you that it dropped to 0.
