Does this game support Gsync? If not then is there any way to “force” it in Nvidia Control Panel? I’m running 144hz Gsync monitor but goes past144hz in game. I know I can vertical sync but I’d like to make use of Gsync if possible. Thanks!
Shouldn’t G-Sync work automatically no matter what game you’re running?
Yes. This thread reads like someone who thoroughly doesn’t understand what G/FreeSync actually is.
OP - G-sync doesn’t do anything with the game. It scales your monitor’s framerate to the game. The game’s framerate ends up being higher than your monitor’s? You just doesn’t get those extra frames. It’s not physically possible for your monitor to go to a higher hz than it’s designed for.
G-sync is hardly a new gimmick, though Nvidia only very recently opened their cards up to FreeSync. The first cards to support it were 600 series and the first monitors came out in 2014.
That’s exactly it; I’m not very knowledgeable and it shows - but it’s not a gimmick. The moment I saw the game go over 144hz I thought it was due to GSync not being compatible or something. I thought it would lock the max at 144hz per the program that’s compatible. I didn’t realize that it has nothing to do with the program at all and only to do with the GPU/Monitor syncing. I was thinking it was another process like Vertical Sync that had to be configured sometimes.
So I don’t ever have to worry about vertical sync or anything again? Just turn it off and let the game run 200fps?
Thank you so much for the clarification. I literally just opened up a Dell S2716DGR so I’m kinda crash coursing this GSync thing…
Nevermind I found the answer I believe.
“Nvidia released an update which lets you use vsync on or off with gsync but it only activates above your max monitor refresh rate.”
Yeah, don’t worry about V-sync. First thing you need to do though is make sure you got the newest Nvidia drivers (install Geforce Experience, make an account, don’t let it optimize any games ever, go to drivers, install newest ones and check the clean installation option). Once the drivers are installed, this should add an option when you right-click on your desktop background, “Nvidia Control Panel” with an Nvidia logo next to it. This is where you mess with your monitor settings.
It’ll look like an old school window (XP era). On the left you should see three sections, 3D, Display, and Video, with a bunch of sub-sections. You want to go to Display → Set up G-SYNC. Obviously, from here you want Enable G-SYNC checked and enabled for windowed and full screen mode.
Also VERY IMPORTANT: Be sure you’re using a DisplayPort for your G-sync monitor. HDMI and DVI don’t support it. If I had to guess, it seems to me like you got this monitor/computer/laptop for chrimbus. Hope you enjoy it.
You’ve called it all correctly and I really appreciate the help. To show my appreciation on Christmas - can I gift you Blizzard Balance on here somehow?
I dunno, I think you have to do it through the shop.
Gsync, more like gravity synchronize

I think Gsync only works correctly if the application is running in exclusive fullscreen mode. Otherwise it uses whatever the refresh rate of the window composer is which might not match with that of the game.
By default Warcraft III runs in windowed fullscreen mode. One has to use a command line argument to get it running in exclusive fullscreen mode.
some monitors can go higher than what they are designed for, like my asus monitor which is designed for 75 but runs at 144. as for G-sync: i do not know enough about it myself to be able to tell you anything that can be of use.
