Pls don’t arrange custom maps by popularity or others things, this kinda-random system is the key to improve the abundance of custom games. Every games has chances to be play, just let the system like it is now.
the title should be, starcraft 2 archive mode is heresy, please don’t replicate it.
Honestly, I’m okay with anything as long as there is also the list of currently open games (like there is now). This way, you can try to look up new and unknown games from the lobby list, but you can also browse through all (popular) maps even if no one was hosting them right now.
I don’t like the “popular” system because a big part of the players will use it everytime so it decrease the number of different modes and the actual system let a chance for less-popular game to be played and maybe become popular, the actual filter is enough (it’s my opinion).
I never see an other game have so much modes, and i’m sure it’s because of this random game list so there is no monopoly on modes. Random is the key !
Furthermore, popular maps are easy to find anyway because a lot of people are hosting them.
The title should be “please add StarCraft II style arcade to Warcraft III” as that thing has evolved so far beyond what Warcraft III has had for decades it is not even funny anymore.
For example they have an open lobby list which shows lobbies with actual players in them (just like Warcraft III now has thanks to robot removal) which also lists what players are in the lobby (unlike Warcraft III, although some third party sites used to show this for some robot games). Hosting is also super fast and easy thanks to the Blizzard servers doing all the work, eg I can download maps at 80 MB/sec reliably, none of the trashy 100kb/sec like ENT and MMH used to have. Then there is the fantastic map search allowing one to search through every public map ever published, unlike Warcraft III where one has to use third party sites for such a service. Let us not forget one can link maps and reverences to lobbies for people to join in game via chat.
It is clear many people posting in this thread have not bothered to play StarCraft II in the past 5 or so years.
All the functionnalities you told us are good ones, of course we want a better downloading -_-
Join with friend, see people in lobby…
I’m mostly talking about the currently open games list.
PS : There is no bot anymore on WC3 and we can see how filled is the game in lobby, and host game easily. those thing were really good
