Disappointed MAC user

I hadn’t planned to write in this forum, but something compelled me to do so.

Since the release of Reforged, we’ve been plagued with countless bugs, issues, and problems. But the most frustrating part is that all these issues seem to stem from the decisions made by the development team. I assume the team is competent in development, but I suspect the choice to neglect Warcraft 3 comes from management. I can’t think of any other service that would be down for over 40 hours for Mac users, especially following a planned maintenance. There should have at least been an option to roll back. How does it feel to be part of a team that doesn’t seem to care? Your product is down, and no one’s providing updates on the outage. It feels like none of you are concerned in the slightest.

Just a couple of examples of your persistent bugs that likely won’t ever be fixed:

  • After completing the campaign and updating to the latest patch, all my icons disappeared. I thought maybe if I completed some again, it would help, but no — nothing changes. The games aren’t counted, and I can’t see the icons I’ve unlocked twice.
  • My ladder games vanished due to a bug involving region selection in the client. I’m sure you’re aware of it, but you either don’t know how to fix it or simply refuse to. It feels like indifference at this point.

Other issues:

  • Resolution problems: When playing fullscreen, alt-tabbing cuts the resolution, forcing me to quit the game.
  • Game functionality: There are no stats, the ladder is broken, tournaments aren’t scheduled at suitable times for Europe, and the ping is horrendous when players from Asia join.

I could go on, but I know it’s pointless. No one is going to take action, and I’ll probably just get a warning for my language. But frankly, this is what your team deserves.

I want to join you here in expressing my disappointment.

I’ve been a massive fan since the original came out, and I started watching some gameplay on YT recently. Seeing Grubby play the game I used to love as a teen was awesome.

So, yesterday evening, I decided to buy and download the game. The timing was the worst possible. After paying for a game I was excited about, I couldn’t and still can’t launch it.

welcome to reforge DragonSlayer.

I have also a lot of bugs since I bought the game (2021) and they never been fix. Sound bugs, crash after a game… in multiplayer orc race menu have no wallpaper and never been fix this 3 last years. I never planned to critic until I can play the game I paid. But the Last update release without test and then no rollback no fast action show the respect they don’t have for their customers.
You can be sure I will never ever buy an Activision/blizzard game in my whole life.

I’ve been playing Warcraft 3 since 2002, and I’ve always admired the company behind it. However, recent events have made me realize just how arrogant this company has become towards its customers:

  1. You are releasing versions without even doing the most basic smoke tests. How dare you!!??
  2. Haven’t seen any rollback plan so far: either roll back to version 1.36.2.21230 or release a new version number and undo all the code changes.
  3. It’s been 48 hours for such a FATAL and widespread issue, and there hasn’t been any update in the forum. Maybe you are already enjoying your weekend. Normally, responsible companies avoid releasing on Fridays to prevent weekend issues from spiraling out of control. This is the kind of experience a mature company should have.

You’re selling a commercial software, yet I feel like many volunteers in open-source communities are more proactive than you.

My ex did backend software coding and I remember when someone in his company released a patch without testing for a client and it wrecked everything. Someone got fired.

Same thing here. I am visiting my daughter and she has a Mac. I paid for the game a few hours ago and downloaded it. Now it will not launch.

They should turn off selling a game that does not work when purchased.

Another disappointed Mac user. It is beyond frustrating that I am not able to use my classic keys to play this game because of the updates to Reforged. I have already resigned myself to the 28gb of extra storage on my computer and the launcher, but releasing a broken patch that completely prevents the game from launching is a next level of inconvenience.

yeah I am not very tech savvy but I enjoy this game and I don’t understand why I downloaded so many gigs for the game but it won’t start from my computer to play offline. Having to connect to blizzard and than it not being able to launch is a bad problem when you pay for the game and have it take up all that space on the computer.

Agreed, definitely annoying for many of us now but I’m sure the folks that caused the problem and/or should have had it fixed awhile ago will eventually be held accountable. As Blizzard’s player base continues to decline for many different and similar issues the people who will be most “inconvenienced” are the ones that lose their job knowing that they could have done something about it earlier (like trying to fix dumb issues like this Mac BS…or at the very least simply undoing the latest worthless update) but chose to continue neglecting the very people that ultimately pay their salary. Sucks when ppl lose their job but not when it’s a result of not being competent in the position to begin with. I know none of the employees give a crap but neither will we when they are sharing their sob stories of being “laid off” in the next year or two cause you will have absolutely deserved it.

Time to revolt against digital copies of games.

Nobody will be held accountable. And anyone that could fix this problem has the weekend off.

I agree with this comment, even though it leaves a sour taste in my mouth :frowning:

Blizzard, in my opinion, would not be paying “emergency” developers to be on the lookout for Warcraft III, a game that is cast aside. Bitter to hear that, but that is the truth from my perspective.

So, we can only wait for the next week to start and give the regular developers to fix this problem.

I wish:

  • We could revert to the previous version of the game
  • We could install a specific version of the game
  • There was an easier way (like a game status) to understand that this was a widespread issue (I learned after working on it for about 2 hours)
  • There were some active personnel to at least come out and say that they are aware of the issue and give us an estimate for the fix.

Hey everyone,
My advice if you want to complain is to go on Linkedin and Twitter.
Flag the Blizzard Entertainment company, posts and people and complain there.
This would make things much more accountable for them.

Another disappointed Mac user, who cannot launch the game now, at normal situations we get 5-10 FPS in the game Menu on M2 Pro chip.

同20年老玩家,真的被这一次更新伤透了心。我的Chinese national holiday就这么被毁了

The issue is known, as evidenced by the notice in the battle.net app, so moaning about it isn’t going to get it dealt with sooner.

In China, there’s a group of government employees known as grid workers or stability maintenance personnel, sometimes referred to as the “fifty-cent party.” It seems like your role is quite similar to theirs. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have no idea what you’re talking about, just pointing out that you’re wasting your effort. They don’t care in the best of times, what makes you think they’ll suddenly start caring because you yelled at them about something they’re already aware of?

You could at least complain about something that isn’t being worked on, because that would make more sense.
