Disable Chat

I know this is not necessarily Technical Support but please forward this message to the right department

Please give the option for a command !mute all

having to type !mute 1 !mute 2 etc 8 times is super unconvienient

Or the Option in the menu to disable chat

Been playing since 2008 and it would be a blessing not to hear all the toxicness and it would fit a reforged game since other games have this feature aswell

The Technical Support forum is for player to player assistance. It’s not for contacting Bliz. You want to move this to General Discussion for a chance of Bliz seeing it.

I agree that " !mute all " would be much more convenient.
In my experience in 4v4, there’s usually 1-2 toxic players while the other 6 are fine, but we all are still exposed to the toxic chat.
So muting those 1-2 players or quitting is often the best option.

But I’m curious: Why would you want to mute all your allies?
Usually is just 1 from the enemy team with 1 from your own team that engage.

Or maybe Competitive Multiplayer or PTR Discussion, since it’s a new feature idea.

You have that option in settings.

I haven’t tried that, but I didn’t want to mute everyone in all my 4v4 games permanently.

But a “!mute all” option for when it’s needed (in a specific game) would be really useful.

Yeah, that would be good and !stats all also.

There are settings in the options to disable chat entirely for your team, the opponents, or everyone and everything. A stats command already exists.

Competitive Multiplayer would work too. The PTR is not the best since it’s for feedback, suggestions, reports, etc, on the currently loaded build.

I mentioned it earlier, just to clarify, I don’t want to mute everyone all the time.
See below:

It’s quite easy to just toggle the boxes as needed. If you only want to mute one person, the system already has you covered. If you want to mute everyone, the options menu is the way to go. It is perfectly sufficient.

It’s not about whether the option technically exists.
During a match, especially in 4v4, I’m focusing on micro/ macro, managing army, economy.
When someone starts spamming slurs mid-fight, I’m not going to open menus and click through settings while I’m controlling my army. That’s the problem.

A simple " !mute all " command would solve it instantly without breaking concentration.

The current system works, it is just not practical during gameplay.

If you can’t find ten seconds in a match to turn the chat off there’s something wrong. This is not intended to be taken personally but I don’t believe that you are a pro level player that has super high APM and whose performance would be significantly compromised by going into the options menu.

We already have a simple option, we don’t need to add options for the options to give more options.

I feel like we’re arguing against improvement instead of discussing it.

It’s not about being a pro or having “super high APM.”

It’s about not interrupting gameplay during fights. Even 5–10 seconds in a team fight can matter, especially in 4v4 where engagements snowball quickly.

The suggestion isn’t that the current system is broken. It’s that a quick command would be smoother and less disruptive.

Quality-of-life improvements aren’t about necessity, they’re about usability.

No, it’s not. I don’t have 5 seconds to open menus that would probably be bugged, and I would lose track of my match. The option is easy to implement and would help a lot, same goes for !stats if they add !stats all it would be nice.

You’re exactly right. It’s not about that. Which is why opening the menu to toggle the chat is not a big deal.

if you do that your chances to win decreases with each lost second.
Thanks admitting I am right

You’re miman7?

I think you didn’t read past the first three words of the post. lol

As a practical solution, you can install AutoHotkey (.AKH files) and use a free LLM to code a simple code for you, such as “when I press Alt + M the script should execute an enter + !mute 1” + enter, and iterate to from 1 through 8".

Perhaps a small sleep command (e.g. 25 to 50 ms) is in order, as the UI is actually not that fast in responsiveness. Note you can’t test this in CGs with AI, as the game disables chat when you are the only human in a game.

Whell, using third-party software like auto scripts can sometimes lead to a ban.
Many gamers don’t know how to install these scripts, or like me I prefer not to risk my account.
If others are the ones breaking the rules and the punishment system is Not fair, why should we take the risk?
