Dear Blizzard, can you please address campaign difficulty?

I have seen people play through the ROC campaign and TFT. This does not seem like a new experience to me. There are some new maps true, but they play largely the same. Just a different layout really. This is a huge problem in difficulty for the ROC campaign since it’s too easy in classic and reforged seems exactly the same in terms of difficulty.

Is this something that you will address in the future? I realise that new missions are probably not coming(Even though I think they should, since you kind of hinted at it during blizzcon). Will some of your designers at the very least take a look at ROC campaign? Could we get some information if this will be coming or not?

I want to buy this game, but I can’t for the life of me justify the purchase currently(Technical issues aside). However if you could at the very least add a brutal difficulty it would feel better. The current campaign is just… well, it seems exactly the same I played a year ago. Please make a statement on this topic.

The tFT campaign is really good overall, so I don’t think changes were ever really necessary. And I don’t know how they could add to it’s difficulty without just making it an unfair slog through way too many enemies. (Which is basically what SC2 brutal was most of the time)

Reign of Chaos needed massive changes to the campaign. Changes that the new missions they added did not bring (though they’re blatantly pretty unfinished). The item table in Reign of Chaos is ridiculous. The game is giving you level 1 items on missions 6 & 7. Unlike tFT which had a lot of fun unique items (like Gul’dan’s Shadow Orb) Reign of Chaos has almost nothing.

The level design is also really bad. Things are tightly packed together. There’s tons of dead space on the map, there’s not really much momentum to doing the actual level. There’s very few side objectives and secrets to uncover.

I’m half-tempted to just make some of these improvements myself tbh, but it’d be a lot of work and I’m not a great level designer.

the reforged maps are absolutely pathetic and some are stright up downgrades

Misconceptions ruins of dalaran is turned from a sprawningly dungeon to the coastline to flat open space WHAT HAPPENED?

Dungeons of Dalaran. WTF is this? they turned a A Grade Quality map into some substandard D tier stuff

You can SEE refroged nuked the games difficulty. play mount hyjal on both versions. They will rarely send heroes at you and never 2. MANY LESS UNITS TOO and less frequent.

People that say changes are not necessary are blind. Change is a necessity. Everything changes and evolves. Everything ages. Warcraft was a great game already. Yes. But people got excited to see a different version of it when they promised new features at Blizzcon.

Now we got HD re-skin and less features. That is not 29 dollars. HD graphics have been added to many games for free.

I tell you this scenario would’ve worked out perfectly. Hey Warcraft 3 players now you have the option to play the game in HD graphics. This HD texture is 10 dollars.

In that case everyone would’ve jumped and enjoyed the HD pack for 10 dollars.

29 dollars was for a new game with necessary changes.

I think I bought starcraft remastered for 14? that should’ve been the price for this game. or even less. Plus the option to just add the skin to the original game.

Either that or a total overhaul with new scenes, new scenarios, alternate endings, clans, ladder-board, improved matchmaking, and campaign changes (optional switch), etc.

They never sent two heroes at you at once in the original as far as I remember. I just played it a few months ago. Sometimes if the attack waves get stalled, you can wind up with two heroes attacking your base because their waves got overlapped. The unit counts look exactly the same to me.

The only difficulty change came from the armor and weapon system changes. Grom and Illidan having hero damage, Dryads being unarmored, etc.

I just played the classic campaign recently. I’m on the Night Elf TFT campaign in Reforged ATM (so I dunno anything about misconceptions for example) and on the unedited maps I’m not seeing major changes.

My big issues were in the Dalaran map in the Undead campaign (which was just lame – just a big gauntlet level that I beat practically with my starting army). The Silvermoon level was okay, but they should have probably added dialogue for Anasterian. And the actual Silvermoon fight… was also a long gauntlet for some reason.

I don’t think they actually changed Stratholme since the demo. It still had the placeholder Orc enemies on it. But it was pretty fun I guess. Wasn’t a very good WC3 map, though. RTS maps that are THAT on rails aren’t fun for me, and pretty much every new map they added was VERY on rails.

Oh yes they do.

rage winterchill and Azgalor come at you with a load of wagons infernals and doom guards in the Ultimate wave. and no its not “their stalled”

You see the campaign has pretedtermined attack wave patterns what they build when they send them for all levels NOTHING is random.

its about every 10 minutes at a location you get the GG wave

how did you feel about the butchered Blood elf campaign dalaran levels and sections?

also i played the hyjal maps today. I did reforged Red flags went off played classic twice then refroged again.

Here are the 2nd results

Reforge hyjal 334 units killed 9 heroes
Classic Hyjal 774 units kill 29 heroes.

THATS NOT a stalled wave. Thats just terrible broken map by terrible developers.

I know nothing is random and the attack waves are predetermined. I don’t remember Azgalor and Rage attacking together when I played it on Classic a few months ago. Hyjal seemed unchanged to me other than Archimonde starting at level 1 for some reason. Which just seems like an oversight to me?

Again, I’m not on the Blood Elf level yet.

see above hyjal stats.

youd be surprised
archimonde also has NO items or unit summon spells.
Anetheron summons TWO infernals with his Ulti not FOUR.

I saw your stats. They don’t make sense to me because again, the game is exactly the same as when I played it a few months ago as far as I can tell. 10-ish Meat Wagons, 10-ish Crypt Fiends, alternating Frost Wyrms & Gargoyles. It all just seemed… exactly the same. Maybe slightly slower?

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I looked up an old Let’s play of Hyjal and the attack waves look exactly the same as in Reforged. Though I did notice Rage & Azgalor attacking together.

I wanted them to totally redo the Hyjal map anyway. It’s kind of a mess. And the allied AI is kinda weird.

Anetheron summoned four when I played it. And Archimonde has Demon Portal, but I’ve never actually seen him use it even in classic. Archimonde is triggered to hit your base on like… 20 seconds to go anyway. Are we talking hard or normal?

i did too but its good they didnt considering THEIR maps they made. they reset if you go to a new base. I just stay at humans for the full 45 mins so i get the full effect of the non puss waves that they start with when u go to a new base

its about 10 min cycles for the wave patterns so. but there is a SLOW SLOW build up when they get a new base.

I attack their base head on and usually destroy it and then kill archimonde. its just level 1 no item archonide with no abilites is… well thats no fun.

With no Anakh and about 2500 instead of 3600 hp and about 70 less chaos dmg + no abilites :frowning:
