It would be great if in map editor, we had an option to change the unit selection limit (which is 12) - preferably through a trigger action. AFAIK, this is not possible, but last time I opened editor was 2010… So apologies if it’s already there.
I understand it has to stay 12 for melee and will stay so, as managing multiple groups is part of player’s ability. But I can see clear use cases in games like footmen or pimp my peon.
It could also be done the other way around, like setting a selection limit of 1 for a micro war map.
This is probably not so trivial as it requires UI update (and probably netcode too) to support a selection increase, but I’d love to see it coming along with reforged release.

Agree, that would be awesome. And if you ask me, it could be just removed altogether from all game modes.
exactly, which means even if we remove the 12 units limit, those that split their armies into groups and are able to manage them will come out on top over those that can’t, so all the none-sense cries about “don’t touch the selection limit” are baseless. It’s an outdated mechanic that has no place in 2019.
Whether it has some place in melee is a debate (which is not the point here).
But it has a place in custom maps, whether it be bigger, unlimited or lower. Up to the map maker.
Yes, it would actually be quite nice feature to change this limit from map to map. Like the example of lowering it to only one unit for certain custom maps. The default, however, should be unlimited (melee and custom games alike).

Umm… Why exactly? I’ve played football with peons and peasant in Warcraft 3, so care to elaborate?
For fifteen years the game has had a 12 unit selection. Why does that need explanation? You’re changing a major part of the game because people find it hard. Learn to play the game and you’ll appreciate the skill. Removing it in the custom game scene is one thing but don’t touch ladder.

It’s not annoying though. Manage your control groups and hotkeys and its very very easy. More than enough keys for everything.
Obviously talking about ladder. map creators can do what they want with their game.
I expect this to be in the game. They can put it in the “Gameplay Constants” section of the editor and just make it something map editors can toggle on and off.
Gameplay constants is fine, however trigger would be better. I can imagine a minigame in uther party where you have to manage an army of 5 one unit at a time. So this would need the limit to be set before the minigame, and reverted after.
Being able to change it per player would be great as well as it opens up more possibilities.
Maybe make it an option for custom games, in the options on the sidebar, at the same time as when you choose your race. Also, allow custom maps & mods to enable or disable this feature by default.
But I’m all for removing the limit. Maybe just not in ladder/matchmaking/melee.
They can remove from the campaign too.
It’s just something that make an already hard game to play, harder for noob players.
